During the credits, the chauffeur mentioned to Kate they are passing Rodeo Drive, asking if she ever shopped there. This refers to Julia Roberts' role in Pretty Woman (1990), and she says, "I did once. It was a big mistake. Big. Huge." In Pretty Woman (1990), Roberts' Vivian tells the shop assistants, "big mistake. Big. Huge." In the same tone.
Julia Roberts was paid $11,952 for each word she says in this film: 251 words in return for, reportedly, a $3 million paycheck.
Julia Roberts, Hector Elizondo, Kathleen Marshall, and Larry Miller appeared in Pretty Woman (1990), and Runaway Bride (1999) (Both directed by Garry Marshall). The hotel where Topher Grace's and Anne Hathaway's characters have dinner is the Beverly Wilshire hotel, the same hotel featured in Pretty Woman (1990).
Features one of the largest ensemble casts in Hollywood history.
James F. McCann: The founder and CEO of 1-800-FLOWERS.COM appeared as a customer in a deleted flower shop scene, when Reed tries to soothe the tense customers by asking them to name their favorite love song.
Garry Marshall: [Family] As he often does in his movies, Garry Marshall cast many of his family members in small roles in this movie: Reed's co-worker Nikki, was played by Marshall's daughter Kathleen Marshall; Mr. Schwabbe was played by his son Scott Marshall; grandchildren Sam Marshall and Lily Marshall-Fricker played "Soccer Son" and Lily, respectively; wife Barbara Marshall played the nurse who told Julia where Harrison was eating dinner; and niece Tracy Reiner played a French photographer. Marshall also shot a scene with his sister, Penny Marshall, in it, but it didn't make the final cut. Also hitting the cutting room floor in that scene, were Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, and pro-basketball player Dwight Howard.
Garry Marshall: [baseball] During the kiss in the news station, the shot is on a couple of production screens. One of the below screens shows an aerial shot of Dodgers Stadium.
