Ship in a Bottle

Oliver Postgate's Bagpuss has a mixture of puppetry and stop motion animation.

It also has songs and a story from Bagpuss about mermaids magically putting a ship back together.

It also harks to a different maybe more innocent times. The stories about the mermaids shows them topless. That would not be allowed on children's television nowadays.

The first episode has Gabriel the Toad singing a song but it is the pompous woodpecker Professor Yaffle that stands out.

At least the children will learn how a ship is put inside a bottle. That Professor Yaffle knows a thing or two.

Holding it all together is Bagpuss. It all has lots of charm.
