David Corenswet’s Superman has released a new 30-second TV spot that features a few new shots alongside scenes from the previous trailer. One of the new scenes that caught the attention of the fans was that of Superman flying. While James Gunn’s fans defended the flight, Zack Snyder’s fans couldn’t help but call out the weird-looking shot.

Some fans claimed that Snyder did a better job with the flight scenes than the new Dcu film. While the tone of the new film brings back Superman’s traits of hope and optimism, it will still be hard to beat the comparison with Henry Cavill’s Man of Steel.

Timothée Chalamet is a pretty popular actor in Hollywood today. The actor has managed to cultivate quite the stardom around him, and James Gunn might be jumping with joy that the actor is keen on playing one DC character.

Nightwing is probably going to be fully grown in the Dcu, instead of playing Robin first. Timothée Chalamet is more than excited about the prospect of playing this character, but James Gunn needs to move fast if he wants to secure the actor for his franchise.

Timothée Chalamet has the right build to play Nightwing, and the actor might not be above putting in the effort that would cause him to have a build like Dick Grayson’s, who is very famously a gymnast. Fans are more than excited about this possibility.

Batman. He's had many names throughout his near-century of dominance in the comic book world; Dark Knight, Caped Crusader, World's Greatest Detective. But, if it were at all possible to sum Batman up in just one word, he could be summed up with this one: Legend.
Few have achieved the levels of iconic that he has, and a large part of the reason for that is his legacy on the silver screen. Bruce Wayne has headlined more movies than any other comic book character, starring in nine solo live-action movies, over 30 animated movies and countless spinoffs and crossovers.
If you're hoping to take a trip to Gotham City to get acquainted with the Batman himself, you might understandably find it a bit overwhelming knowing where to start. But fear not future Gothamite, we have got you covered, with some Batman classics that you should definitely check out (as well as...

Henry Cavill is a world-renowned actor who has portrayed some of the most iconic characters in film, from the legendary Superman to Sherlock Holmes in Enola Holmes. His performances have earned him a massive global following. However, his talents don’t stop at the big screen.

Cavill is also a passionate gamer, and two games that hold a special place in his heart are Warhammer 40k and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. I can’t wait to see what James Gunn brings to Superman when his version hits theaters this July. Before David Corenswet, Henry Cavill donned the Superman suit in Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel, which came almost twelve years ago on June 14, 2013. It was poised to become one of the biggest films of the century but Snyder wasn’t just ready to make it into another crowd-pleasing Superman film.

Snyder’s film was a bold attempt, which didn’t impress everyone. Even some hardcore DC fans were disappointed to see the dark-toned Superman film. From the get-go, Man of Steel proved that it wasn’t trying to play it safe in the superhero genre like the MCU films. I find it easily the best for this exact reason.

When Zack Snyder made Man of Steel with Henry Cavill, there were no plans of building a Dceu. However, DC executives were eager to catch up with Marvel, who were thriving with their superhero franchise. In their misguided vision for a DC franchise, the studio tried many things unsuccessfully before opting for a complete restructuring under James Gunn.

The Dceu already underwent several course corrections before the restructuring, resulting in a bunch of canceled or abandoned projects. After the new regime took over control, all planned films in the former Dceu were effectively canceled.

Brandon Sanderson, one of the most popular and successful fantasy authors today, has built a reputation for creating detailed worlds and characters. However, when it comes to other big fantasy series like The Witcher and The Rings of Power, he has some strong opinions on how they’ve been handled.

Video game adaptations have become one of the big trends in film and TV lately. And seeing the success of projects like the Fallout show, the Sonic movies, and others, it’s easy to see why. Despite this success, Bethesda Game Studios head Todd Howard has hinted that fans shouldn’t expect a live-action Elder Scrolls or Skyrim series anytime soon.

Henry Cavill is officially a father.
The Man of Steel star has welcomed his first child with his girlfriend, Hollywood executive Natalie Viscuso, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. Details about the child’s birthdate, name or gender have not yet been revealed. The news comes after the couple was spotted pushing a stroller around on Saturday in Australia where Cavill is currently filming Amazon MGM’s live-action Voltron film.
Cavill first confirmed that Viscuso was expecting their first child at The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare premiere in New York in April. “I’m very excited about it,” he told Access Hollywood. “Natalie and I are both very excited. The Dceu's highest-grossing movie, James Wan's Aquaman, is still an impressive achievement over six years after it broke historical DC movie records. The DC Extended Universe raced to its first crossover event after only three installments. After Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice teased the Justice League's creation with cameos by Aquaman, Flash, and Cyborg. Then, Justice League assembled the team, and Jason Momoa's Arthur Curry received his own spinoff one year later. James Wan's Aquaman was the first movie outside Zack Snyder's Dceu original plans to follow Justice League's controversial release.

Kraven the Hunter repeats a major DC casting waste for Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, underutilising top-tier talent. Kraven the Hunter depicted the eponymous Marvel villain as part of Sony’s Spider-Man Universe. The film stars Russell Crowe as Nikolai Kravinoff, the estranged father of the titular character. While Crowe brings gravitas to every role he takes, appearance in Kraven the Hunter echoes a misstep previously seen in the DC Extended Universe.
From Gladiator to A Beautiful Mind, Russell Crowe’s career is marked by iconic roles that solidified his reputation as a Hollywood powerhouse. On the other hand, the Ssu has faced a mixed reception. While films like Venom and Venom: Let There Be Carnage have found financial success, their storytelling has often been criticised as inconsistent. Crowe’s casting as Nikolai Kravinoff was seen as a promising move, hinting at a more layered portrayal of familial conflict within the action-heavy narrative.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice introduced a great number of DC Universe heroes to live-action, and the most ignored hero that would go on to feature in Justice League was given one of the most compelling introductions. While there is much to love about the Dceu, the franchise faced pressure to quickly introduce many of its characters, leading to a theatrical cut of Justice League that felt underdeveloped. This has led the new Dcu to prioritize even Teen Titans before another Justice League film. However, much of the Dceu worked, especially a few particular hero introductions.
Looking at ranking the heroes in the Dceu, many of the best characters came about early in the franchise. Our next look at Superman should be with us as soon as next month (you can read more about that here) but a new standee has been spotted today at the Bengaluru Comic Con in India.
The 3D effect appears to be a nod to Superman: The Movie as filmmaker James Gunn continues to wear that inspiration on his sleeve with the first DC Studios movie.
Richard Donner's beloved classic has been pivotal in the journeys of many comic book movie writers and directors; it's no secret that it ranks among Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige's favourite movies, for example.
When it comes to Superman, Gunn embracing the 1978 classic's tone for his movie will be welcomed by those who didn't appreciate Zack Snyder's moodier take on the Man of Steel in the Dceu. After all, the "S" on the hero's chest is meant to stand for hope!

Superman is a character that needs no introduction, as he's become one of the most popular characters in all of fiction. His iconic costume, especially his "S" symbol (a.k.a. the House of El's coat of arms), is revered throughout the world, and the character is still being discussed and adapted into movies and TV to this very day.

Last year, Superman & Lois concluded with season 4, showing how Tyler Hoechlin's Man of Steel lost his powers, grew old, and eventually died.
That was a different kind of Superman story than fans are normally used to seeing. It reiterated that there are always going to be new ways of using DC's premiere hero while also keeping classic elements alive. Iconic comic book writer Dan Slott has written titles for some of the most recognizable characters. Among them are She-Hulk (no one's written more comics about her than Slott), the Fantastic Four, and Spider-Man. The latter could be his most controversial. While this writer enjoyed everything from Amazing Spider-Man to everything he did with Otto Octavius in Superior Spider-Man, it was certainly divisive for others. Regardless of how you feel about that one, the series moved a lot of units whenever they were published.
Slott's next venture involves the most important comic book character of all time. He’s writing the Man of Steel in DC Comics' Superman Unlimited with artist Rafael Albuquerque. The esteemed writer said:
“He’s the first and the greatest superhero of all-time, and I’ve been waiting my whole life to tell stories about him. Not just because of all the amazing powers he has,...

James Gunn's Superman trailer included a beautiful tribute to John Williams' iconic theme, but I hope Gunn doesn't ignore another composer who has an important role in Superman's DC legacy. 1978's Superman: The Movie is arguably the birth of the superhero genre. Christopher Reeve's live-action version of Superman made viewers believe a man could fly, and the film is still seen as a landmark of cinematic spectacle. One of the film's most memorable aspects is its excellent score, created by Williams, adding to his legendary discography.
His theme is still synonymous with the hero almost 50 years later. It was reused in 2006's Superman Returns and an essential part of Superman's first trailer. However, it wasn't used in 2013's Man of Steel, as Zack Snyder's films in the Dceu timeline had a different tone than the Richard Donner Superman films. Hans Zimmer composed the score for Man of Steel,...

Following the debut of James Gunn's Superman poster with David Corenswet, Tom Welling's version of the DC icon from Smallville gets his own version of it. After having been gone from the big screen for several years, Krypton's last son is about to make his return to the world of cinema with the Dcu Superman movie. One of the biggest takeaways from late 2024 was the release of the Superman poster, which received a lot of praise from the DC Universe audience ahead of Corenswet's film being released this summer.
Corenswet's Superman poster style became a very popular concept, and it didn't take long for other past versions of the Man of Steel to get imagined with that design. To show what Smallville's Superman would look like with the Dcu poster, Buffy2Ville shared new artwork of Welling's Man of Tomorrow getting the same poster treatment as Corenswet's Superman.

Gerard Butler is one of the most successful and recognizable actors in the world. Throughout his career, he has earned a reputation as an action movie star. Some of Gerard Butler's best action movies include Olympus Has Fallen, Copshop, Plane, Den of Thieves, and its sequel, the recently released Den of Thieves 2: Pantera. His roles in these films and many others have cemented him as a legendary action star, but it's his collaboration with Zack Snyder that stands out as his most iconic role.

Following one Marvel actor's recent comments about playing the Joker, I can't imagine anyone else being so specifically perfect for the role in the DC Universe. While the focus is on the Dcu's Man of Steel with the 2025 Superman movie on the near horizon, there's still understandably a lot of interest in learning more about the franchise's version of DC's other biggest hero. Batman's live-action movie history has been some of the strongest in all of the superhero genre, and the prospect of The Brave And The Bold movie continuing this winning streak is inevitably thrilling.
Since the Joker is without a doubt Batman's most famous foe - and a figure who also has a selection of stunningly good live-action depictions - much of the hype around the Dcu's Batman also tends to lead into speculation about which actors could be the new universe's Joker, with a few names consistently...

The first official poster for James Gunn's Superman was released along with the trailer last month, and featured a striking shot of David Corenswet taking flight as the Dcu's Man of Steel.
A new teaser for the movie is expected to debut during the Puppy Bowl in February, but it'll probably be another while before Warner Bros./DC Studios begin the marketing campaign with more one-sheets.
For now, we have two impressive fan-made efforts for you to take a look at.
The first seems to be inspired by a similar-looking poster that was released for Zack Snyder's Man of Steel back in 2013, while the second shows our new Man of Tomorrow standing in his Fortress of Solitude.

James Gunn and Peter Safran are currently building out a new DC Cinematic Universe, which will kick off in earnest with a new Superman movie, directed by Gunn, this July. The Superman movie will costar House of the Dragon star Milly Alcock (Young Rhaenyra Targaryen) as Supergirl, who will then get her own solo feature.
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, which is based on Tom King's comic book of the same name, is scheduled to hit theaters on June 26, 2026. According to Screen Daily, it's not begun filming at Leavesden Studios in England. Leavesden Studios is also where a lot of House of the Dragon is filmed, so maybe Alcock will be able to hang out with some of her old castmates when the third season of that show starts shooting soon.

It took Warner Bros. the better part of a decade to get The Flash up and running. After losing multiple writers and directors, It helmer Andy Muschietti seemed like a good fit for the job; excitement for the movie also increased when it was revealed to be a loose adaptation of Flashpoint featuring the return of Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton's respective versions of Batman and Supergirl's long-awaited Dceu debut.
Original plans called for the movie to set the stage for Crisis on Infinite Earths, with Affleck's Dark Knight trapped in another reality and Keaton replacing him in the Dceu ahead of the since-scrapped Batgirl movie. Alas, as regimes changed, so did the ending.

Harley Quinn is one of the most interesting offerings DC has ever had. Clearly taking inspiration from both Margot Robbie's version of the character and DC Comics, the TV-ma animated series has no fears, exploring several different corners of the DC Universe. Following Creature Commandos season 1, those wanting another dose of bloody, hilarious adult animation with DC characters should check out Harley Quinn season 5. The new year of the TV show makes a good case for why James Gunn should keep it around for years to come as an Elseworlds project.
Developed by Justin Halpern, Patrick Schumacker, and Dean Lorey, Harley Quinn is a Max original series focusing on Harley Quinn, the former therapist led astray by the Joker. The show sees Harley learn that the Joker truly doesn't love her and decides to find her place in the world without him - and cause a little mayhem along the way.

Gunn and Safran’s Dcu recently launched its first project, ‘Creature Commandos.’ The animated series premiered with two episodes and has already been renewed for a second season, likely due to its overwhelmingly positive reception.
Now, anticipation is building for the next release: the live-action ‘Superman,’ starring David Corenswet as Clark Kent, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor.
Gunn has previously discussed the movie’s main villain, confirming that Lex Luthor will take center stage as the villain. There are also rumors and leaks suggesting that Ultraman could appear as another danger that Superman will have to face.
This will mark a significant shift from the Dceu, where General Zod was the first major Superman villain. Zod, one of DC’s most iconic antagonists, appeared in both ‘Man of Steel’ and ‘The Flash.’ However, it’s important to note that the version of Zod in...

Sometimes, in the grand shuffle of Hollywood casting decisions, it feels like a game of musical chairs—when the music stops, you’re left holding a character you’ve barely had a chance to make your own. Jason Momoa’s recent announcement that he’s officially joining James Gunn’s DC Universe as the intergalactic bounty hunter Lobo is a perfect example.

It’s like watching a quarterback swap jerseys mid-game—unexpected, but full of possibility. And it’s got us wondering: if Momoa can bounce from Aquaman to Lobo, why can’t Henry Cavill play the role of his dreams? After all, he earlier expressed his favorite villain as Brainiac, the ultimate foe of Superman.
Cavill made his Superman debut in Man of Steel back in 2013, and it was clear from the get-go that this was a man who gets the character.

There are rarely a few directors in Hollywood who can compete with Guillermo del Toro’s iconic works like Cronos, Hellboy, and Pan’s Labyrinth. Yet, there was a time when even the acclaimed filmmaker faced a bit of anxiety when it came for him to unveil the first look of Pacific Rim, at the 2013 Comic-Con, against Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel.

Although the movie later became one of the most appreciated pieces of art to pay tribute to Japan’s anime and kaiju culture, Guillermo del Toro wasn’t quite confident about his film, during the Comic-Con. Considering how he almost disappeared from the industry for around five years, before returning with Pacific Rim, del Toro believed people would not way appreciate his movie against Snyder’s DC flick.

Superman might be invincible, but Henry Cavill’s paycheck? Not so much. Fans of the Dcu’s Man of Steel have long debated if Cavill was seriously underpaid for donning that iconic cape. And yes, he probably was.
So, when you think Superman, you imagine sky-high paychecks, right? But Cavill’s earnings weren’t quite on the same planet as other big-name superheroes.

The Dceu was dark, but the introductory scene for Cyborg was absolutely wild, with a brief but traumatic cameo in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The Dceu had more than its fair share of issues. Despite a promising start in 2013 with Man of Steel, it wasn't long until the entire universe began to fall to pieces. And one of the core issues was how abruptly and rapidly the universe tried to introduce a team of heroes without any real context.
In fact, in the second movie of the entire Dceu, the film featured a gratuitous cameo sequence that left all the action of the film behind to essentially set up trailers for upcoming hero movies. Bruce Wayne makes contact with Wonder Woman, and sends over files that he procured from Lex Luthor which reveal a first glimpse of the Flash, Aquaman, Cyborg, and presumably Wonder Woman herself, though her clip is not shown.

David Corenswet convinced James Gunn to keep Superman’s infamous red trunks, proving he knows that character far better than many others. The Superman costume is a defining element of the character’s mythology, and every new iteration of DC's Man of Steel brings with it debates over how to update the iconic look. David Corenswet, the actor set to don the red cape in James Gunn’s Superman (2025), played a pivotal role in retaining the traditional trunks for Dcu Chapter One: Gods and Monsters, revealing a deep understanding of what makes Superman an enduring symbol of hope.
Superman’s costume has been a key part of that legacy since his debut in 1938. Designed by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, Superman’s outfit was inspired by the circus strongmen and wrestlers of the era, featuring a cape, boots, and the now-famous red trunks over his blue tights. Over the decades,...

Superman & Lois has already become one of the most beloved iterations of the Man of Steel that the DC Universe has ever seen, despite the fact that it often tended to deviate from its source material. The series, with its incredible action and enormous heart, overcame some of the laziest superhero tv criticisms about the CW and told some genuinely emotional stories. With a definitive end for the Man of Steel, the series ended on a high note, even if Superman & Lois spinoff and sequel pitches continue to be shared.
As evidenced by some of the most iconic Superman & Lois quotes, the writing for the show was a strong point. However, this only worked because the showrunners were willing to take chances, and to tell stories that genuinely deviated from their comic book origins. Jason Momoa joins James Gunn's Dcu as Lobo, and it gives me hope that Henry Cavill could also get recast and find redemption after his time as Superman abruptly ended. The Dceu had a promising start with Man of Steel, but the universe cratered after several flops left viewers disinterested in the universe. While Gunn's Dcu could be the fresh start DC needs, it's unfortunate that so many cast members had their time in certain roles cut short. One of the biggest disappointments with the Dceu is what happened to Cavill's Superman.
Cavill's Superman only got one solo film before collaborating with other heroes in Batman V. Superman. The fact that Henry Cavill read one particular DC comic to prep for Justice League 8 years ago makes the culmination of his Dceu story so much sadder. Henry Cavill's depiction of the Man of Steel was among the most celebrated aspects of the Dceu, often becoming the saving grace of the movies in which he appeared. His debut in Man of Steel was met with middling reviews (though sentiments have improved with hindsight), which worsened for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and 2017's Justice League.
The unfortunate trajectory of the Dceu would ultimately lead to the announcement of a total reboot, the Dcu, which is already underway with the release of Creature Commandos in December. The 2025 release of Superman is nearly here, and I am shocked that the DC Universe hero I am most excited to see in the film is not the Man of Steel himself. Rather than making the story small, it seems that James Gunn has broken open the entire universe in his film, introducing mythic heroes from every corner of the cosmos.

While Cavill has earned a place among famous franchises like the Dcu, his acting career still seems to be lagging drastically, with him being criticized for having one of the worst major “star” careers in Hollywood. That said, now it’s up to Warhammer 40K and Highlander to help him put an end to this very criticism.

Henry Cavill's best movies and TV shows show the amazing rise to fame the actor has had as well as the promise the rest of his career holds in store. Born in St Helier, Jersey, Cavill made his feature movie debut in the period adventure movie The Count of Monte Cristo, establishing himself in the business and leading to roles in smaller projects. The Dceu's Man of Steel set up a very specific Metropolis challenge for the Dcu's Superman. The first Superman trailer reveals that David Corenswet's titular hero won't be depicted as an invincible god. The trailer opens with a beaten-up Superman bleeding in the snow, and then shows him getting berated by an angry crowd and struggling to fight multiple enemies. The Dcu's Metropolis is clearly different from its Dceu counterpart. For instance, the Daily Planet's iconic globe decoration is back, and both the buildings and the pedestrians seen in the Superman trailer are brighter and more colorful. Previous DC movies like Zack Snyder's Man of Steel and Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight trilogy...
