A mystery solved

This fictional story seems arcane at first glance, but oddly enough, it has a bit of relevance today, when a different mystery is alive and well in the night skies of New Jersey!

When bats crash into a skyscraper alongside birds, scientists wonder how their amazing abilities could let them lapse in their navigation. So experiments are undertaken to try and discover the source of a mysterious beam coming from above the building that interferes with the creatures' own form of radar/sonar.

The show unfolds in a calm manner, with no one getting all excited at the alarming occurrence, until the finale has a particularly topical Cold War solution. But in real life, end of 2024, a mystery has arisen in the repeated sightings at night near a military base in New Jersey of unknown drones. Current explanation that these are harmless or not even actually drones at work is not satisfying to politicians or the public. It will be interesting to see if this mystery is as easily resolved.
