The slippery slope of the stock market

John (William Windom) tells his editor Hamilton Greeley (Harold J. Stone) that he is quitting his job after one of his cartoons is rejected. He returns home to halfheartedly tell his wife Ellen (Joan Hotchkis) and daughter Lydia (Lisa Gerritsen) that he is going to write a book, expecting them to demand he ask for his job back. They encourage him, and now he worries how to make money while writing his book. He daydreams a fantasy of a bustling stock market and gets a tip from the wizardly J.P. Morgan (familiar detective/police character actor James Gregory) in exchange for some milk. He tells John to buy "Cliven Fiber" and he calls a stockbroker (the series famed executive producer Sheldon Leonard) to buy 300 shares. When the stock closes down four points, John surmises, "there's no advice on what to imagine when your imaginary expert gives you lousy advice." Fortunately, Greeley is given some advice of his own.
