Waxahatchee is hitting the road with Willie Nelson, Sheryl Crow, and Bob Dylan — and she has a new song to celebrate that. On Tuesday, Katie Crutchfield, who’s behind the indie musical project, released the new single “Dirt” as it was announced that she’ll join the touring Outlaw Fest.

“I’m a fool in angel’s clothing/I’m a glutton for being let down,” Crutchfield sings on the track, backed by guitar and steel guitar. “But I can’t help you, I can’t stick around.” (The track was produced by Brad Cook.

Jerry Cantrell kicked off his “I Want Blood” North American tour on Friday night (January 31st) in Niagara Falls, Ontario, and performed the Alice in Chains song “Hate to Feel” for the first time in more than 30 years.

The deep cut from the seminal 1992 album Dirt hadn’t been performed by Alice in Chains or any member of the band since a November 1993 show.

Cantrell and his solo band dusted off the tune 13 songs into a 17-song set in Niagara Falls, and played it again over the weekend at shows in Sayreville, New Jersey, and Portland, Maine — which means it will likely remain a staple in the set during the duration of the tour.

Singer Greg Puciato is part of Cantrell’s touring band, and often takes on the late Layne Staley’s vocal parts on the Alice in Chains songs in Cantrell’s sets.

Director Cosmos Kiindarius made his feature directorial debut with the 2016 thriller Stand, which was about American brothers who head out into the Vietnam jungle and get trapped in a mine field that was left over from the war. Now he’s about to head into production on his second film, a psychological horror tale called Dirt, and he has gotten some genre icons to join the cast. Dirt will feature Malcolm McDowell of A Clockwork Orange (and the Rob Zombie Halloween movies), A Nightmare on Elm Street heroine Heather Langenkamp, and Courtney Gains from the Stephen King adaptation Children of the Corn. Also in the cast are James Paxton, who recently appeared in Twisters and happens to be the son of Bill Paxton, Emily Tosta (Mayans Mc), and Owen Vaccaro (The House with a Clock in Its Walls).
