According to curator Tammy Burnstock at the 'Australian Screen' website, ''in an innovative distribution deal, the film was released in zoos and sanctuaries in Australia and New Zealand via Zoos South Australia, with a percentage of the profit from merchandise sold going towards animal conservation projects.''

The meaning and relevance of ''The Badness'' in the film, was that they are the movie's bad guys. According to the Fandom Villains Wiki webpage, ''- 'The Badness' are a group of poachers who are the main antagonists in the 2006 film 'Elephant Tales'.''

The movie was entirely filmed in Kwazulu-Natal which is a province in west South Africa.

This film was shot in the heart of the Zulu region in the middle of winter, the drier season of the year. The temperature was sometimes around 0°C in the morning and could rise to 30°C in the middle of the afternoon.

During the dry season, dust thickens the air providing fabulous sunsets and sunrises, but this dust present everywhere can infiltrate equipment and cause damage, which forced the technical team to design very specific protections for their HD cameras.
