The best Jessica Alba movies and TV shows include everything from horror movies and superhero efforts to action thrillers, TV shows, and more. Alba started as a child actor when she was 13 and starred in the movies Camp Nowhere and The Secret World of Alex Mack. This led to her picking up her first major television role when she was only 19 and starred in the James Cameron-produced action series Dark Angel.
Since that time, Alba has starred in everything from comic book movies like Sin City and Fantastic Four to horror films like The Eye and romantic comedies like Valentine’s Day. While she has received praise for several roles she has played throughout her career, it has not resulted in many awards. At the same time, she has faced criticism, including picking up Razzie Award nominations in 2006, 2008, and 2011. Despite this, Alba’s work remains popular, and she continues...

The following contains mild spoilers for "Star Wars: Skeleton Crew."
The "Star Wars" Easter Egg Industrial Complex is alive and well in "Skeleton Crew," the franchise's latest TV outing on Disney+. Whether it's old Republic "dataries," Wim (Ravi Cabot-Conyers) pouring blue milk into his morning cereal, or the pirates of Port Borgo having Hutt clan tattoos, if you're the kind of fan who has all the galactic encyclopedias on your bookshelf, there's a lot here to keep your eyes and ears peeled for, including allusions to certain planets from previous "Star Wars" stories.
In "Star Wars: Skeleton Crew" episode 2, "Way, Way Out Past the Barrier," while the kids are trying to get Sm-33 (Nick Frost) to navigate them back to their home planet of At Attin, we get a particularly curious Easter egg. Despite not being a hit among critics, the first Final Destination outing proved to be a major box-office draw, which spawned four more sequels. With the sixth installment slated to hit the silver screen next year, which will be helmed by Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein, fans are still on the fence regarding the mystery surrounding horror icon Tony Todd’s William Bludworth.

Considering the late actor previously signed to reprise his role in the next major release of the supernatural horror franchise, it’ll be interesting to see if the writers finally expand on his character’s mystery.

The high Elf king Celeborn is a notable figure in J. R. R. Tolkien's Legendarium; but despite his stature, he only appeared briefly in Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings and has yet to appear at all in Amazon's The Rings of Power. One of the wisest Elves to have ever lived, the Lord of the Wood Elf kingdom of Lothlrien, and husband to Galadriel, Celeborn is one of the most powerful figures in Tolkien's universe. He's been present at nearly all the major events to take place in Arda, or the Earth, as it is known in Tolkien's stories.
In the premiere of The Rings of Power, the shadow of Morgoth is briefly seen as the Valar descends upon the Two Trees, one of the few times the First Age of the Legendarium is referenced in the TV show. Celeborn was a grown Elf all the way...

CBS is the second broadcast network (following ABC) to unveil its midseason game plan, which includes long-awaited return dates for NCIS: Sydney and The Amazing Race, as well as a premiere date for Drew Barrymore’s Hollywood Squares reboot.
You’ll also notice that the new Morris Chestnut-led medical drama Watson, which was previously slated to air Sundays at 10/9c, has now claimed the post-Tracker slot. This, in turn, pushes The Equalizer back to 10 pm. (This marks the Queen Latifah procedural’s second big move this season, having previously traded time slots with Tracker.)

The Wheel of Time series, created by Robert Jordan, is one of the most ambitious fantasy series ever written. The first book in the series, The Eye of the World, was published in 1990. Jordan wrote the first 11 books and a prequel, and Brandon Sanderson finished the series by writing the last three books after Jordan's untimely death in 2007.
In my humble opinion, The Wheel of Time is the greatest epic fantasy series of all time. There are plenty of incredible fantasy series by some fantastic authors, but none compare in the breadth of vision, depth of plotlines, and character development and advancement.
It may not be as important to the genre as The Lord of the Rings or have the gravitas of the incomplete Song of Fire and Ice, but The Wheel of Tiime tells a story on a scope that may never be matched.

It’s a surprise to find out that director Audrey Diwan had never seen the original Emmanuelle — a gauzy soft-porn feature that got la toute France hot and bothered when it was allowed to be shown in normal cinemas in 1974 — before she was approached to do this remake, which opens the San Sebastian Film Festival in Competition. In its day, Emmanuelle spawned a string of sequels, each reputedly worse than its predecessors, while star Sylvia Kristel became so immediately famous for taking off her clothes that the expectation blighted her entire career. It also made a huge amount of money.
But what’s most surprising about the fact that Diwan — who made The Happening, which won the Golden Lion in Venice three years ago — had not seen Just Jaeckin’s then-so-scandalous film is that this one seems to be constructed as an answer to it. Both are based on Emmanuelle Arsan’s pseudonymous 1967 novel,...

CBS isn’t eager for summer to end. The Eye network has opted to push its premiere week — normally held the third week of September — to mid-October, with one big exception: “Survivor.”
The landmark unscripted series is indeed CBS’ sole September “Survivor,” premiering its 47th season on Wednesday, Sept. 18 at 8 p.m. Et. CBS will also air sneak peeks of two more entertainment series during the month: Newbie “Matlock,” starring Kathy Bates, will get an special early premiere on Sunday, Sept. 22, while new competition skein “The Summit” will also get a Sunday sneak, on Sept. 29.
But for the most part, CBS will wait until the week of October 14 to take the bow off its fall 2024 primetime package. In doing so, it runs the risk of competing for attention right when the presidential campaign could be at its apex.

Now You See Me 3 is set for release on November 14, 2025. The sequel will hit theaters over nine years after its predecessor. With very little competition surrounding it and the long wait for the third installment in the franchise, Now You See Me 3 seems primed for success.

Disney’s latest Star Wars venture, The Acolyte, has been available for streaming on Disney+ since June 4, 2024. Despite facing controversies and review-bombing, the series remains a global talking point, with fans eagerly anticipating each new episode. Recent developments in the series have sparked intense fan discussion, particularly moments that challenge established canon. However, Episode 5 marks a potential turning point for the series, featuring a significant Jedi massacre orchestrated by The Master. This grim plot twist, which resulted in the deaths of five supporting characters and two major Jedi, was deemed crucial for advancing the storyline, leaving only two survivors as anticipated.
The impact of Episode 5 has led fans to draw comparisons with another popular Star Wars show, specifically “The Eye,” the sixth episode of Andor. Many online discussions highlight similarities between these two episodes, which we will explore further below.

Evidence suggests The Wheel of Time series has cut some Forsaken characters from the show, shaping the narrative differently. Possible exclusion of Be'lal from Season 3 aligns with book adaptation choices, reducing the odds of his appearance in the show. Be'lal may be one of the easiest Forsaken characters to omit, as his early death limited impact and character development.
Details about The Wheel of Time season 3's story help in identifying which members of the Forsaken are being cut from the show. At this point in this narrative, the evidence that Prime VIdeo's series has changed the number of Forsaken in The Wheel of Time's world is overwhelming. In Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time books, it's well known that the Forsaken comprise 13 powerful channelers. But in the show, all signs point to there only being eight members of the group.

Phobia-ridden and driven by a sense of existential dread a man places an ad in the newspaper: prove the existence of life after death, win thirty thousand dollars. Of the many replies he receives, Miles narrows the applicants down to just three – a scientist, a medium and an entrepreneur.
First and foremost, We Go On is a road movie; a mother and her son, seeking answers. Like a downbeat Mulder and Scully, the sceptic (or flat-out unbeliever) and the agnostic, scrabbling for hope in a world which often terrifies the latter. Such a concept would be nothing without a strong pair of leads, and this it has in spades with Clark Freeman and the always wonderful Annette O’ Toole.

Prime Video has announced that we will get our first look at some footage from the second season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power tomorrow when the first teaser trailer is released online.
Production has been underway since late 2022 at Bray Studios, just outside London. Season 1 was shot in New Zealand, but the decision was made to change-up location because The UK is "considered more economical and is also where the company is establishing a multi-show hub."
The first season concluded with the reveal that the seemingly benevolent Halbrand was actually Sauron all along. The Dark Lord offered Galadriel the chance to join him once his ruse was discovered, and when she refused, he fled back to the Southlands (soon to be known as Mordor).
It was also heavily implied that "The Stranger" was really Gandalf, but this is yet to be confirmed by actor Daniel Weyman or the showrunners.

It’s always fun to discuss horror novels that Aren’T Stephen King. No knock on the monster from Maine, he’s the master of horror novels over the last, oh I don’t know, 50 years, for a reason but its nice to not have the show be solely dedicated to his adapted works. He says knowing that he makes the schedule and decides what books to cover. See you in May, Mr. King! Funnily enough, the man actually loved today’s subject to the degree that he called it one of 2006’s best horror novels, but more on that in a little bit. The Ruins (watch it Here) was one of those hot properties by an author whose previous work was an instant success with critics, fans, and studio executives that put it to celluloid. The book came out and just two years later we were given a movie...

Grotesquerie promises to be a terrifying drama with a mysterious crime scene at its core, challenging characters and viewers alike. The show, led by Niecy Nash-Betts, may explore the supernatural to delve into themes of good and evil, echoing the success of True Detective. Ryan Murphy's new horror project could potentially fill the void left by True Detective by integrating disturbing crimes with otherworldly elements.
Ryan Murphy is returning to the horror genre with his upcoming show Grotesquerie, and the terrifying-sounding drama could be the perfect replacement following the success of True Detective: Night Country. Having worked on horror hits like American Horror Story and Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, Murphy is widely hailed as one of the most influential voices in the genre – especially on the small screen. In 2005 and in 2007, director Tim Story made a pair of feature films starring the Fantastic Four, one of Marvel Comics' most superlative titles. "Fantastic Four," created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, was more or less a family sitcom except the three family members and their best friend all happened to have superpowers. It was light and comedic, while also featuring bloviating, demonstrative supervillains who shouted regularly about the glories of world domination. It was a comic book series that declared itself to be The World's Greatest Comics Magazine!
Story's feature film adaptations were not very well received when they were released. 2005's "Fantastic Four" only bears a 28% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, while its sequel, "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer," only has a 38% approval rating. Moreso, Marvel Comics fans were harsh to Story's movies, hating their cartoony tone and corny scripts. It's worth acknowledging, however, that Story's...

Two big questions need to be answered as Magnum P.I. faces what's likely to be its final ten episodes.
When did its producers find out the end was coming? It was announced to the public in late June, but those involved with the series had to know long before that.
And did that give them any opportunity to tie storylines up at all? Since all of its episodes were in the can when NBC decided to divide the season into two ten-episode blocks, probably not.
When Stephen Hill (T.C.) did an exclusive interview with TV Fanatic in mid-April, he remained optimistic about the show's future.
"I want to go ten seasons," he said then. "I'll take all the seasons I can get. I love it here in Hawaii." Who wouldn't?

Starfield, like many of Bethesda's past RPGs is a game full of choices and consequences. Most often, major choices in any given quest line will come through dialogue or optional objectives clearly marked in the quest log. However, there's one choice players don't even know they're passively making, which can have devastating consequences later on in the game's main campaign.
[Warning: The following article contains spoilers for Starfield.]
Throughout Starfield's campaign, players will be introduced to a number of recruitable companions. These companions come from all walks of life and spending time with them helps dive into their backstories and flesh them out as characters while exploring The Settled Systems. For example, Sam Coe's family were founders of Akila City, and Sarah Morgan served in the United Colonies military (and was a drummer in a band at one point) prior to joining the exploration group Constellation, whereas the stealthy Andreja was a former smuggler and devotee of...

Pelargir is a port city in Middle-earth, and The Rings of Power first mentions it in season 1, episode 7, "The Eye". Pelargir is a safe haven for survivors after a volcanic eruption, and it remains a powerful outpost of the Kingdom during a time of political unrest. Pelargir's connection to Isildur, a crucial character in the Second Age, suggests that the people who fled to Pelargir will play a vital part in his return in season 2.
The Middle-earth city Pelargir is briefly mentioned in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 1 and is shaping up to be a notable location in season 2. The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power depicts the events of the Second Age of Middle-earth, thousands of years before the Lotr movies. The series follows different branching stories of Elves, Men, and Harfoots whose lives are all interconnected through the rising evil of Sauron in Middle-earth.

May the Force be with… Emmy voters? Disney Plus amassed an impressive 40 Emmy nominations this year (up from 34 last year) thanks to its stable of “Star Wars” saga hits, which accounted for more than half of the mouse house’s total haul of 23 bids — nine for “The Mandalorian,” eight for “Andor,” five for “Obi-Wan Kenobi” and one for docuseries “Light & Magic.”
Although “Mandalorian” nabbed nine bids, the real success story this year is “Andor,” scoring a Best Drama Series nomination for its debut season plus writing and directing bids and five Creative Arts noms. The latest live-action series in the Disney-era “Star Wars” franchise, “Andor” serves as a prequel to “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” (2016) and also by extension to the original Oscar-winning classic “Star Wars” (1977).

The vast library of The Lord of the Rings-related productions from Peter Jackson's movies to the Amazon series offer different viewing experiences when viewed by release order or chronologically. J.R.R. Tolkien’s legendarium has inspired many adaptations, including radio dramas and animated movies from Ralph Bakshi and Rankin/Bass, but Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings and Hobbit trilogies along with Amazon’s The Rings of Power stand as the high-water mark for bringing Tolkien's stories to the screen. While the Amazon series is not directly related to Jackson’s films, they were created with the same tone in mind, using Howard Shore to compose the opening theme and boasting a similar visual aesthetic.
Tolkien’s world covers millennia of Middle-earth and Valinor. The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings are only one small part of that history, and The Rings of Power takes place before those films.

While Hollywood was obsessed with remaking Japanese horror movies for a few decades, this did not stop a few cult classics from slipping through the fingers of studio executives. There are a few great Hollywood remakes of Japanese horror movies. For example, director Gore Verbinski’s take on The Ring is arguably as strong as Hideo Nakata’s original Ringu, and 2004’s The Grudge does a solid job of recapturing the appeal of 2002’s Ju-On: The Grudge. However, the only reason that these successful remakes are notable is because of how rare they are.
Broadly speaking, Hollywood remakes of Japanese horror movies are disasters. While critics often dismiss horror movies too quickly, the savage reviews received by the likes of 2020’s The Grudge, 2008’s The Eye, and 2006’s Pulse were more than earned. 2008’s take on One Missed Call even managed to make a Takashi Miike movie into a predictable slog,...

With three “Star Wars” series competing for the first time in the same Emmy season — especially in the craft races — how can the critically acclaimed yet underperforming “Andor” hold its own against “The Mandalorian” (which has amassed 14 craft wins in two seasons), let alone the Jedi-infused “Obi-Wan Kenobi” limited series?
Simple: By touting its strengths as one of the top 10 shows of 2022 (per IndieWire’s Ben Travers), as well as the best “Star Wars” since “Rogue One,” which first introduced Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) as part of the daring mission to steal the Death Star plans. We’re so excited about Scream VI that we went a little crazy.
Now streaming exclusively on Screambox is Sssshhh, the incredibly rare Indian Scream remake in which a masked killer meets musical numbers.
In the 2003 film, “a serial killer is responsible for taking many lives including that of Malini and her boyfriend. The police are unable to comprehend especially when this killer leaves no evidence at every crime scene.” You can read all about Sssshhh right here.
But wait! There’s more!
Screambox is now the home of two other Bollywood remakes: Naina, a supernatural horror inspired by The Eye, and Neighbours, a vampire tale that borrows from Fright Night!
In Naina, after receiving an eye transplant, a young woman realizes that she can see into the supernatural world.
As for Neighbours, when a horror-obsessed teenager learns that her next-door neighbours are vampires, no one will believe her!
