Shania Twain may be country music royalty, but somehow, she hadn’t met Blake Shelton before appearing on The Voice!
This week's musical advisor, who joined the contestants and coaches on Monday’s live show, opened up to Et’s Sophie Schillaci about meeting her fellow country star for the first time on the NBC singing competition.
“He is just really sweet and kind,” gushed Twain, who was also impressed that Shelton knew all of her songs. “He was very nurturing and caring and welcoming to me… a true gentleman.”

The five-time Grammy winner was already tight with Alicia Keys and Adam Levine -- who recorded some of Maroon 5’s 2009 album, Hands All Over, at Twain’s home in Switzerland. She had even met Shelton’s girlfriend, Gwen Stefani, years ago, when she and No Doubt both performed during the Super Bowl Xxxvii halftime show in...

It’s nearly two weeks late, didn’t air on a Sunday, and certainly wouldn’t pass network FCC regulations, but all the same, this week’s Banshee was 100% what you’d call a post-Super Bowl episode of TV. If you were a New Girl or Brooklyn Nine-Nine fan who suffered (or celebrated, if you’re from Seattle) through the big game just to watch the new episodes airing immediately after, you might have noticed how slightly “off” each show was from its established rhythm. When not cashing in on guest stars like Prince and Adam Sandler, both New Girl and Brooklyn Nine-Nine were serving up simplified, easily accessible versions of themselves, downplaying the idiosyncrasies of the characters and comedy that won them devoted fans, instead emphasizing loud, easy gags, like a 2-minute riff on the proper pronunciation of “panties.”

Super Bowl Xlvii will have to settle for being only the third-most-watched program in American television history.
The game -- interrupted by 34-minute power outage early in the second half -- averaged 108.4 million viewers, down from the past two Super Bowls. The Baltimore Ravens defeated the San Francisco 49ers, 34-31, to win their second NFL title.
Last year's Super Bowl scored 111.3 million viewers, breaking the all-time record of 111 million set the year before. (CBS is not counting the power outage as part of its game ratings.) Fans did come back after the power came back on -- the telecast peaked in its final minutes with 113.9 million viewers.
After the game, "Elementary" scored 20.8 million viewers and a 7.8 rating among adults 18-49 for CBS. That's by far the biggest audience the show has had in its rookie season, but it's also the smallest audience for a post-Super Bowl show since "Alias" drew...

Janet Jackson has been named 'Grinch of the Year' by the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). In a poll compiled by PETA and news agency WENN, Jackson beat out director Cameron Crowe and reality star Kim Kardashian as the star most at odds with the organisation's aims. "While the holidays may be known as the season of giving and peace on earth, that's not always the case for our animal friends," PETA spokeswoman Wendy Wegner told WENN. "When Janet Jackson had her infamous wardrobe malfunction during Super Bowl Xxxvii, at least what popped into view of 170 million onlookers belonged to her, unlike the animal skins she drapes herself in, which are as dead as her fashion taste and her career." Speaking about fellow offenders Crowe and Kardashian, Wegner added: "Cameron Crowe went retro in the (more)...

This weekend is going to be a massive one for the worlds of music, television and sports. The Super Bowl is finally here, and the fact that the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Green Bay Packers will be squaring off against one another to determine who is this year's NFL champion is only about the fifth-most important thing happening over the next few days. In addition to the game, there will be the headline-grabbing advertisements (including a number of movie trailer premieres and appearances by both Justin Bieber and Eminem), the new episode of "Glee" that will follow the big game (which features the much-talked-about "Thriller" sequence), the national anthem care of Christina Aguilera (which bodes well for the Steelers) and the fact that this could be the most-watched American television broadcast in history (besting last year's Super Bowl, which drew 106.5 million viewers).

It's Super Bowl time, and while some of us watch the game intently, all of us wait in high anticipation for the commercials, and unless you really wanted to throw away $10 for the annual pay-per-view Lingerie Football event, chances are your glued to your TV waiting for the official mid-game performance. The past decade or so has represented what could be considered the Golden Age of Half Time Shows, which is in stark contrast to the generic marching bands and "Up With People" performances from the event's early years. The Who will headline Sunday night, but will they be able to crack the top five performances in Super Bowl half time history?
5: Super Bowl Xxxvii (Shania Twain, No Doubt and Sting)
Tampa Bay Buccaneers 48, Oakland Raiders 21
What could liven up one of the worst Super Bowls ever played? Shania kicked off half time in 2003 with "Man I Feel Like a Woman.

Former football player Warren Sapp was arrested on February 6 by Miami Beach police.
The defensive tackle for the Super Bowl Xxxvii-winning Tampa Bay Buccaneers was charged with a domestic battery misdemeanor. Sapp's charge comes from an allegedly violent argument with his girlfriend of two years which began at 5 a.m. at Miami Beach's Shore Club Hotel.
The arrest report indicated that Sapp's girlfriend had "a swollen right knee and bruises on the back of her neck." The alleged victim said she had been sleeping in Sapp's hotel room while he was in town for Super Bowl Sunday - for his position as an analyst for the NFL Network and on Showtime's "Inside the NFL" - and the two were involved in an altercation, in which she claims he "grabbed her and began to choke her" before throwing her out of the room.
