Disney’s planned Tangled live-action remake may have found the perfect actress to play Mother Gothel! Here’s what we know!
Like it or not, Disney’s live-action remakes aren’t going away. The company seems obsessed with making a live-action version of just about every major animated movie in its catalog. It’s not just the classics like Snow White, The Little Mermaid, or Beauty and the Beast either.
Moana is shooting a live-action version with Dwayne Johnson reprising his role as Maui. This summer sees the live-action Lilo & Stitch movie. Disney is also planning a version of Tangled, which makes sense as the 2010 film was one of the bigger hits of that decade.
The take on the Rapunzel myth had a good storyline and wonderful songs. It also boasted one of the best Disney animated villains ever, Mother Gothel. The twisted sorceress presented herself as a mother to...

In real life, the ideal situation is that you meet someone that you, you know, like right off the bat. After all, life is short, and hoping that someone you hate will miraculously turn into someone you love feels like a lot of work when you could just focus your attention on finding a person you get along with in the first place. But that's the real world. In movies, there's something special about the idea of two people who seemingly can't stand one another gradually coming to realize that they can't live without each other.
Often, their fiery encounters are simply an outlet for the simmering chemistry they can barely contain, making for some of the most memorable on-screen pairings, especially when their feelings for each other begin to deepen. Fairy tale romances are sweet, but where's the fun in watching two nice but bland people fall in love...

A quintessential everywoman, a supervillain twice over, the ultimate scene-stealer, and a comedic force of nature, there is no actor working right now that has the same undeniable presence as Kathryn Hahn. Since staking her claim with a head-turning performance in "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days," she has taken on an audaciously wide range of characters, using her unique talents to bring single mothers and interdimensional witches to life with equal levels of craft and care.
This has earned her a resume that reads different from many of her contemporaries, not only because of the sheer variety of roles, but because not a single one of them is forgettable. In trying to put together this list of her best work, it felt as though we were splitting hairs between a cadre of characters all distinguished and brilliant in their own way. Did Ghosts of Girlfriends Past make Matthew McConaughey’s take a break? (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Having spent the ‘00s charming audiences with swoon-worthy roles, McConaughey decided he’d had enough. For about a decade, he was the rom-com leading man. From making hearts flutter in The Wedding Planner to teaching Kate Hudson how to lose a guy in 10 days and even helping Sarah Jessica Parker with a Failure to Launch, McConaughey dominated the feel-good romance scene. But by 2009, after wrapping up Ghosts of Girlfriends Past with Jennifer Garner, the Texan heartthrob hit a creative crossroads.
“I wanted to try some other stuff,” he later shared, but Hollywood didn’t feel it. The industry had him pegged as the rom-com golden boy, and stepping out of that lane wasn’t encouraged. So McConaughey made a bold call: he quit. For two years, he ghosted Hollywood entirely.
The hiatus wasn’t exactly glamorous.

The ad, which features the Oscar-winning actor pantless, shows the couple recreating the poster for the 2003 rom-com. Titled “How to Lose Your Pants in 10 Ways,” Camila McConaughey is decked out in a yellow silk dress matching the one Kate Hudson wore for the film.
Pantalones also debuted 10 specialty cocktail recipes inspired by the movie, including “Love Fern Margarita,” “Benny Boo Boo,” “You’re So Vain” and “Yellow Dress.”

Matthew McConaughey is opening up about his decision to escape being labeled as “the rom-com dude,” and aiming for something greater in Hollywood.
The Oscar-winning actor recently sat down with tennis pro Nick Kyrgios for the Good Trouble podcast, where he talked about finally learning to say no, leading to his “most rebellious move” in the industry while trying to stay true to himself.
“Look, man, the devil’s in the infinite yeses, not the no’s,” McConaughey said in a preview clip of the episode set to be released on Wednesday. “No, it’s just as important, if not more important. Especially if you have some level of success and access. No becomes more important than yes. Because, I mean, we all look around and see we’ve overleveraged our life with yeses and gone, geez, oh, man, I’m making C-minuses and all that shit in my life...

Movies are empathy machines, as Roger Ebert once wrote. The best films allow us to experience emotions we may not have felt otherwise through a particular character’s story. But some movies conjure emotions that we’re actively seeking out. Happiness. Joy. Love. We call these “feel-good movies.” Everybody has their go-to stable of films they return to over and over again when they need a boost — or maybe just an escape.
If you’re looking to expand your horizons beyond whatever’s streaming on Netflix, or if you just need a pick-me-up Asap, we’ve got you covered. Below, we’ve assembled a list of some of the best feel-good movies to watch when you’re feeling down.

Matthew McConaughey recently talked about “Tiptoes,” a 2003 movie that has become a cult favorite for its strange plot and choice of actors. McConaughey watched the movie’s trailer for the first time on an episode of the “2 Bears, 1 Cave” podcast, which led to an honest conversation about one of the most unusual projects he worked on early in his career.
Steven, played by McConaughey, is the main character of the movie. He has a family full of little people, which he has kept from his girlfriend Carol, played by Kate Beckinsale. The most controversial part of the movie was Gary Oldman’s role as Steven’s twin brother, Rolfe. Oldman wore makeup to play a small person.
McConaughey told podcast hosts, Tom Segura and Bert Kreischer, “It was a crazy idea.” “But you see the talent it drew.” Even though the plot was very strange, the movie got a lot of good players,...

In looking back at the career of Oscar winner Matthew McConaughey, many might not remember that in the same year he was breaking out as a romantic lead with How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, he was seen starring in Tiptoes, a bizarre comedy from writer-director Matthew Bright. It’s one you would certainly not expect to see made today — particularly with talent at his level.
McConaughey reminisced about the politically incorrect project, which had future Oscar winner Gary Oldman playing a little person, in conversation with comedians Tom Segura and Bert Kreischer in a recent episode of their podcast 2 Bears, 1 Cave, which saw them play the film’s trailer for the star for the first time.
“Did you know that when people watch the trailer for Tiptoes, they think it’s a sketch?” Segura asks McConaughey in the clip, part of which you can view below.

Since transitioning from TV to movies, Will Smith has become one of Hollywoods biggest stars, with the catalog to back up his status. Smith first rose to prominence as the star of The Fresh Prince of Bel Air. Not many TV actors can move on to films so easily, but Smith clearly had the talent, the charisma and the pure intangible star power. Throughout the 1990s, he starred in a string of huge box office hits.
Although Smith was initially seen as a comedic actor, with movies like Bad Boys and Men in Black, he has shown a more impressive range. With three Oscar nominations to his name, Smith has proven his chops in biopics, action movies and traditional dramas. This means that his best movies show many sides to his acting talents, and they span from the early 1990s to the here and now.

And with the upcoming Season 5 Part 2, the show is all set to create magic on the screen for one last time.

Women don’t have it easy in Hollywood. And they didn’t back in the ’80s when former New York Times Magazine editor Lynda Obst got her start as a producer. As famously chronicled in her 1996 book “Hello, He Lied — and Other Truths from the Hollywood Trenches,” she sold her first movie “Flashdance” (1983) to Dawn Steel at Paramount, only to have the newly minted production team of Don Simpson and Jerry Bruckheimer take over along with all the credit for its breakout success. Still, it was a winner for the Associate Producer, and she was on her way.
Always a heavy smoker, Obst passed away at age 74 from Copd (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease). She was devoted to her family, including her brother, agent Rick Rosen, and son Oly, a producer/manager, whom she has described as “my confidant and best friend.”

Lynda Obst, who had producing credits on high-profile films including “Sleepless in Seattle,” “Flashdance” and “Adventures in Babysitting,” died Tuesday in Los Angeles. She was 74.
“I was immensely proud of her. She was a trailblazer for women in the industry at a time when it was very difficult for women to have prominent roles. She was passionate about her work but even more passionate about her family,” her brother, WME’s Rick Rosen, said to Variety.
Obst told the Hollywood Reporter earlier this year that she had been battling chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
Most recently, she served as producer or executive producer on TV series including “The Hot Zone,” “Good Girls Revolt,” “Hot in Cleveland” and “Helix.” Obst’s final feature producing credit was Christopher Nolan’s “Interstellar” in 2014. Among her other credits were “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days,” “Hope Floats,” “Bad Girls” and “The Fisher King.

Back in the late 1990s, Kate Hudson began her career with small roles in films and television shows. However, by the 2000s, the actress ended up making a name for herself in the industry. With films like How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days and Bride Wars, the 45-year-old took over the fashion scene and even went on to be praised for her fashion choices. However, nearly 2 decades since her iconic yellow dress scene with Matthew McConaughey, the star seems to have lost her magic touch.

Vince Vaughn has always been widely praised for his iconic comedic performances, but one of his more nuanced dramatic turns in True Detective season 2 remains criminally underrated. Since he broke out in the 90s, Vaughn has been primarily known for his comedic roles in movies like Anchorman, Wedding Crashers, and Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story. Along with frequent co-stars Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson, and Will Ferrell, Vaughn became renowned as a member of the Frat Pack, a group of actors who dominated the comedy genre with movies like Old School and Zoolander throughout the 2000s.
But Vaughn has always mixed more complex dramatic roles into his filmography alongside those iconic comedic performances. He played Norman Bates in the 1998 remake of Psycho, the hard-edged Sergeant Howell in the World War II epic Hacksaw Ridge, and vengeful prisoner Bradley Thomas in the brutal action thriller Brawl in Cell Block 99. During a Thursday editorial meeting, a Variety editor asked if anyone was willing to give up their Friday evening to write a piece covering an opening night screening of “Joker: Folie à Deux.” After an interminable silence with no takers, I reluctantly raised my hand. With Todd Phillips’ previous “Joker,” I watched Joaquin Phoenix transform into the titular Clown Prince of Darkness from a plum seat at the Toronto Film Festival during its North American premiere at a theater filled with journalists and VIPs. This would be a different experience, with me sandwiched in with the sweaty fanboy masses. It turns out I was wrong.
Figuring that a Friday night showing at the Grove would offer a good template for how the “Joker” sequel was playing across the country, I made my way to the ticket kiosk. Twenty minutes ahead of showtime, seating for a regular screening at this popular AMC Theater was wide open.

Apart from playing the supportive assistant in the iconic rom-com How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days or the drug-induced Bad Moms, Hahn had one of her most risky roles on HBO’s Mrs. Fletcher. More than just an X-rated miniseries, it would have turned out to be a lot more difficult if it wasn’t for one thing— intimacy coordinators.
