    Another yellow brick road..

Charles Trenet sings four songs : the title track,"Vous êtes jolie" "il pleut" and his celebrated "Quand Notre Coeur Fait Boum" .Plus a verse from his "Je Chante " performed a Capella in the nature."Je chante" was featured in the eponymous film released the same year.Needless to say,the songs are the main reason why you would like to watch this .

'Je Chante" was a cock and bull story but it was a story."La Route Enchantée" lacks any coherence;its three parts are like three sketches ,and the line which connects them is rather tenuous.

part one: the first scene takes place in a classroom where a maths teacher gives a rough time to his students. This man is none other than Charles 's father. We also make acquaintance with his kid brother and his mother , a music teacher -not the same kind of music as Trenet-Charles (like in "Je Chante") writes songs and dreams his life away.

part 2: Charles takes to the enchanted road (check the title) and gets to a castle where a loony so called countess (Marguerite Morino) is looking for a troubadour.

part3: Charles hit the big time and is now a big star.He performs "Quand Notre Coeur Fait Boum" on stage , to his parent's great joy.

A film for Trenet's fans. The others had better choose Prévert's "Adieu Leonard" ,probably Trenet's best part in the movies.
