Partly a return to Fernandel's coarse comedy of the thirties and late twenties ("Ignace" " Les Dégourdis De La Onzieme" and other forgettable drivel ),cause the last third takes place during the Spring(?) army manoeuvres ,although Fernandel has become too old to serve ! The story is far- fetched to a fault and the screenplay so stupid it almost becomes surrealistic :a desirable house "La Cigalière" in Provence -Fernandel 's favorite region - ,a châtelaine ,concerned by her future as a socialite ,a nephew (Andrex)who is more interested in girls and in his inventions than he is in his auntie's standing .But auntie is a wealthy dowager it's not to be sneezed at!As often in his movies (see "Senechal Le Magnifique") Fernandel is mistaken for a VIP,a duke (a duke who does not even exist!).
If there were no masterpieces in his filmography,Le Hénaff edited two classics :"Quai Des Brumes" and "Le Jour Se Lève"
