Andy Muschietti recently shared his thoughts on why The Flash struggled at the box office. Despite having a well-known character and a $200 million budget, the movie failed to connect with audiences, grossing only $271.4 million worldwide.

While many pointed to production delays, legal issues surrounding lead actor Ezra Miller, and criticism of the film’s writing and visual effects, Muschietti offered another reason during an interview with Radio Tu.

He explained, “The Flash failed, beyond all the other reasons, because it wasn’t a movie that appealed to all four quadrants. It failed in that regard. When you spend $200 million making a movie, Warner wants to bring even your grandmother to the theaters. And I discovered in private conversations that many people simply don’t care about Flash as a character—particularly the two female quadrants. All of this is headwind working against the film, as I’ve learned.”

This remark sparked heated discussions online.

Given that the character was a part of Deadpool’s third film, there was a lot of meta stuff going on with the characters. Looming over seven seasons of "Young Sheldon" was a grand tragedy: the family's patriarch, George Sr. (Lance Barber) was doomed by "Big Bang Theory" canon to die before Sheldon went to college. Although the show took some liberties with other elements of Old Sheldon's backstory — for instance, George Sr., played by Lance Barber, is a way better father in the prequel spin-off than Sheldon ever made him sound — the writers always knew there was no backing out of George Sr.'s death. As of writing, the fires in Palisades, Eaton, and other neighborhoods took 11 lives and destroyed more than 10,000 buildings. Moreover, some 153,000 residents were displaced due to the fires. Marvel Studios is all set to unleash the Red Hulk in Captain America: Brave New World, played by Harrison Ford. Ford replaced the late William Hurt as Thaddeus Thunderbolt Ross, who earlier had an encounter with Edward Norton’s Hulk. In the comics, the two characters cannot stand each other and go head-to-head.

In fact, Ross’ transformation to the Red Hulk is somewhat fueled by his personal vendetta against the Hulk. Despite displaying almost similar powers of superhuman strength, durability, and endurance, there are some key differences between the characters in terms of powers and other aspects.

The more angry the Hulk gets, the stronger he becomes. However, this power doesn’t work the same for Red Hulk.

Next month, Marvel Comics will celebrate Black History Month. In addition to Storm: Lifedream, a special one-shot honouring the legacy of Earth's Mightiest Mutant, Marvel will release several special variant covers.

A major Wicked star is putting her name to play an iconic Marvel heroine in the MCU! Can it happen?

Among the big questions regarding the MCU is how they can use the X-Men. Long before the MCU came about, the 2000s X-Men movies were among the first major blockbusters based on Marvel Comics. Starting with the 2000 movie, the franchise spawned a total of thirteen movies, highlighted by Hugh Jackman's star-making turn as Wolverine. 

Fox released those movies and thus Disney couldn't use them until they bought the studio in 2019. However, Disney did produce X-Men '97, a continuation of the beloved 1990s X-Men animated series. 

Deadpool & Wolverine also integrated the X-Men into things. Additionally, the post-credits scene for The Marvels had Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) finding herself on an alternate Earth to meet the Beast (Kelsey Grammer) and a version of her late mother Maria (Lashana Lynch), who was the superpowered Binary.

When the Marvel Cinematic Universe launched in 2008, it was with Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk. The latter was neither a hit nor a flop, but given the tepid response to the reboot and behind-the-scenes issues with actor Edward Norton, it quickly became the franchise's black sheep.

Rights issues with Universal Pictures also came into play and it wasn't until 2022's She-Hulk: Attorney at Law that The Incredible Hulk was referenced in a meaningful way (next up is The Leader's return in Captain America: Brave New World).

We first told you about rumoured plans for a Hulk vs. Wolverine movie in November. Now, reliable leaker @Cryptic4KQual has shared some additional insights into this long-awaited battle and what it could mean for both the Mutant Saga and the rumoured Avengers vs. X-Men movie.

"I'm told the next Hulk-oriented film most likely isn't going to be a [Hulk vs. Wolverine] film," the insider posits.

While a handful of MCU movies have been dated for after Avengers: Secret Wars, there's been no word on exactly when Marvel Studios' X-Men reboot will be released.

We know that Michael Lesslie (The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes) is penning the screenplay, but beyond that, updates have been few and far between. Unsurprisingly, social media scoopers are already dropping hints about who could play Marvel's Merry Mutants.

Stranger Things star Sadie Sink is supposedly being eyed for the role of Jean Grey and, according to scooper @MyTimeToShineH, Wicked's Cynthia Erivo is "one of the actors Marvel has been eyeing for Storm."

Sink is 22 and Erivo is 38, so that's a big age difference between the two team members. However, it's possible Marvel Studios is casting a wide net and has yet to decide whether we're getting an established team of Uncanny X-Men or a younger group of First Class-style mutants.

The Hulk and Wolverine have a long and complicated history in Marvel comics, often going from friends to enemies many times. Both are well-known and loved characters, with the Hulk mostly working alone or with the Avengers, while Wolverine is closely tied to the X-Men as one of their most famous members.

Although both have appeared in movies, they haven’t yet had a showdown, mainly because of copyright problems. But now that the X-Men are joining the MCU, a crossover is more likely than ever.

We’ve already gotten a brief taste of what the showdown might look like in last year’s ‘Deadpool & Wolverine,’ however beyond that one short scene, fans were hoping for an entire movie that pits Hulk and Wolverine against each other.

The highly anticipated Wicked sequel received a new title last month — Wicked: For Good. Although fans had mixed reactions about the new title, director Jon M. Chu was quick to defend it, saying it was always the plan.

“Who wants a movie called ‘Wicked: Part Two’?” Chu told Variety. “On the script, it always said, ‘For Good,’ and so it was just a point of like, ‘Do we really want to call this “Part Two”?’ And nobody wants that.” The director added that they didn’t consider any other titles. “I mean, that’s the destination. ‘For Good,’ we know, is like, ‘Where are we going with this movie? Let’s finish this thing,’” Chu explained.

The new title takes inspiration from one of the musical’s most well-known songs, a duet between Elphaba and Glinda performed near the end of the musical as a farewell.

Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman: Deadpool & Wolverine was 2024’s biggest-selling home entertainment title in the U.K.

The expletive-ridden Marvel movie topped the list with 561,917 sales in Britain, more than 80 percent of them digital, according to new figures from the Digital Entertainment and Retail Association (Era).

The action film — which welcomed back the Australian star in his iconic X-Men role — also led physical video sales, though revenue in the space continued to face challenges, declining 7.9 percent to £156.3 million ($194 million). Blu-ray sales were up almost 5 percent on 2023, however, although still below 2022 levels.

The good news is that total video spending grew though due to streaming, the biggest driver being subscriptions to services like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV, which grew by 8.3 percent to £4.5 billion ($5.6 billion) last year — almost 90 percent of total video revenue.

With Kevin Feige dividing his attention between theatrical and streaming releases during the first two Phases of the Multiverse Saga, it's fair to say this era of storytelling has been more hit-or-miss than most would have liked.

There's still been far more good than bad but several titles have underperformed both critically and commercially. Meanwhile, an apparent lack of direction has frustrated fans (Kang the Conqueror being ditched for Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom is among the biggest changes we've seen over the past year or two).

It's widely believed that the Mutant Saga is next for Marvel Studios and it could be what sets this franchise back on the right track alongside the upcoming Avengers movies which precede it, Doomsday and Secret Wars.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps is going to be set in an alternate version of the 199999 universe, where the 1960s were dominated by the existence of The Fantastic Four. There was another film that looked into an alternate sixties, featuring Marvel heroes: X-Men: First Class.

One of the many reasons that the Fantastic Four will be introduced in a universe of their own is that the MCU already has a pretty muddled history, and the introduction of Marvel’s First Family is only going to make it more complicated. A similar approach can be taken with the X-Men, but instead of having the merry mutants appear in yet another Universe, Marvel should bring back the old First Class cast, and have them share a universe with The Fantastic Four.

In the landscape of multiplayer games, few features have been as anticipated and as difficult to perfect as PvE mode. Games like Overwatch made significant efforts to integrate a compelling PvE experience, but despite its best efforts, it struggled to meet the expectations set by its passionate fanbase.

Now, a new contender has arrived that might just have the formula to get it right: Marvel Rivals. This title has already generated quite a buzz in the community since its release. With its action-packed world of Marvel heroes, it has the potential to deliver a PvE experience that Overwatch struggled to perfect.

Marvel Rivals has a stronger foundation for PvE than Overwatch

In 2019, Blizzard revealed plans for a full-fledged PvE mode as part of Overwatch 2. However, as the game was developed and released, the promised PvE features were continuously delayed or scaled back.

Ahead of the ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ premiere, Kevin Feige rated the movie an 8/10 in terms of its impact on the future of the MCU. The film turned out to be an exciting ride, with Deadpool jumping through various realities in search of a Wolverine variant who could save his reality.

The Wolverine featured in the movie is quite different from the one we saw in the Fox X-Men franchise. In this reality, the X-Men have seemingly perished, and Wolverine has given up being a hero due to grief and a sense of failure. The locals also appear to blame him for their troubles, as this version of Wolverine spent his time drinking while his team was being slaughtered.

The dark reality of Wolverine’s universe in the film may be a glimpse of what’s to come in the MCU’s mainline universe, Earth-616, and could even be the origin of Doctor Doom.

The reign of the X-Men ended after 20 glorious years. With 14 myriad films in its collection, the Foxverse never fell short of wild, unpredictable, and adrenaline-packed scenes that could exterminate any other cinematic universe in its radius, especially Kevin Feige’s boy-scout-like realm of the MCU.

If you look back at "Deadpool & Wolverine" coverage from about a year ago, you won't see the most famous member of the X-Men's name in the title. As recently as December 2023, /Film and other outlets were simply calling the future highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time "Deadpool 3." Why? According to an interview Ryan Reynolds and Shawn Levy recently did with IndieWire, it all goes back to some tricky legal ins and outs related to the heroes involved -- Wade Wilson aka Deadpool (Reynolds) and James Howlett aka Logan aka Wolverine (Hugh Jackman).

Well, Schmoes, as 2024 finally draws to a close, we reflect on a year full of ups and downs, box office shocks and surprises, and many unexpected hits and misses. If there is one thing for sure, there are always movies highly overrated and underrated by critics and fans alike. As the UnPopular Opinion Guy, I felt it was only fitting to issue my list of the movies I felt the masses got wrong. Some of these may shock you, and some may piss you off, but these are my honest-to-goodness perspective on the movies of 2024. James Gunn's Superman won't be Nicholas Hoult's first brush with the superhero genre (he played Beast in 20th Century Fox's X-Men movies), but it will be his first time portraying a major DC Comics character after narrowly missing out on landing the part of Bruce Wayne/The Dark Knight in Matt Reeves' The Batman - and screen-testing for the Man of Steel himself.

Believe it or not, "Free Comic Book Day" is once again fast approaching and, in 2025, it takes place on May 3. Marvel Comics will celebrate this exciting day for the industry with something for every fan.

Nicholas Hoult can work with 5000 rats on Nosferatu but he draws the line at fake ice cream. Hoult shared his experience of being given fake ice cream for a scene and recalled how he acted like a diva and refused to eat it. Interestingly, a few days earlier, he shared another story where he worked in a disgusting situation with almost 5000 rats.

Hoult has been part of some amazing projects and his dedication to each role has earned him some critical praise. In his latest film Nosferatu, Hoult stars alongside Lily-Rose Depp and Bill Skarsgård, playing the role of Thomas Hutter. He is also set to play the main villain Lex Luthor in James Gunn’s Superman.

Deadpool & Wolverine was one of 2024's biggest hits and a movie that went a long way in restoring faith in the MCU after a somewhat hit-and-miss Multiverse Saga.

Rather than bringing the Merc with the Mouth into the MCU - or Earth-616, to be a little more specific - it celebrated 20th Century Fox's X-Men Universe and franchises like Blade, Elektra, and Fantastic Four. Of course, what truly made the R-Rated blockbuster excel was the return of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine.

Talking to IndieWire, Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy and writer/star Ryan Reynolds were asked whether "Deadpool vs. Wolverine" was always the plan.

A lot of the MCU takes inspiration from the Ultimate Marvel line of comics, as is evident in characters like The Hulk, Iron Man, and Nick Fury. Given that the X-Men and the Fantastic Four will now be heading to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as well, it stands to reason that they might emulate their Ultimate Marvel versions as well.

With the Fantastic Four making their debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it stands to reason that they might, too, take some inspiration from their Ultimate Universe counterpart. While Reed Richards of the Ultimate Marvel continuity would end up becoming The Maker, Ben Grimm would get a much radder update which might be something Ebon Moss-Bachrach would be keen on exploring in the MCU.
