Walter Presents has inked a two-year deal with Scandinavian streaming service C More to launch a curated selection of international scripted series across Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland.
Walter Presents, which specializes in premium foreign-language programming, will initially launch on C More with an 80-hour collection comprising eight first-run and exclusive series, including the Dutch psychological thriller “The Blood Pact”; Italian crime thrillers “Thou Shalt Not Kill” and “Ice Cold Murders: Rocco Schiavone” (pictured); and the French crime dramas “Vanished by the Lake” and “The Other Mother,” and the gripping Belgian political action thriller “Blackout.” The company’s goal is to expand its offer on C More to 500 hours over the next two years.
A key streaming service in the Nordics, C More has been investing in local drama productions and has a large portfolio of popular reality and TV shows, on top of exclusive broadcasting rights for major sports leagues.

Walter Presents, a foreign-language drama streamer, launched in the UK in 2016 as a joint venture with Channel 4.
It came out of the gates with spy series Deutschland ’83, which subsequently became the first German-language scripted series to launch on a U.S. network when it debuted on SundanceTV.
In 2018, the service launched in the U.S. via PBS and it is now distributed in ten countries, across four continents and is available to over 6M SVOD subscribers in addition to being available to a number of free-to-air audiences and is on target to deliver 50M streams in the UK alone.
When it was launched by Walter Iuzzolino, Jason Thorp and Jo McGrath (below), the plan was to have 1,000 hours of content in its first three years and five years in it is now up to 1,800 hours, including French mystery dramas, Icelandic crime shows, Japanese horror series, Bulgarian thrillers and Italian...

Next month’s Criterion Channel selection is here, and as 2021 winds down further cements their status as our single greatest streaming service. Off the top I took note of their eight-film Jia Zhangke retro as well as the streaming premieres of Center Stage and Malni. And, yes, Margaret has been on HBO Max for a while, but we can hope Criterion Channel’s addition—as part of the 63(!)-film “New York Stories”—opens doors to a more deserving home-video treatment.
Aki Kaurismäki’s Finland Trilogy, Bruno Dumont’s Joan of Arc duology, and Criterion’s editions of Irma Vep and Flowers of Shanghai also mark major inclusions—just a few years ago the thought of Hou’s masterpiece streaming in HD was absurd.
I could implore you not to sleep on The Hottest August and Point Blank and Variety and In the Cut or, look, so many Ernst Lubitsch movies,...

Another small screen legend has passed on, leaving behind a legacy filled with laughs and memorable performances. TV legend Alan Sues has died at the age of 85.
Sues passed away at his Los Angeles home yesterday.
Known to the mainstream audience mainly for his hilarious stint on "Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In", Alan touched our genre twice: once in 1995 in the television remake of A Bucket of Blood and more famously for his role as Wilfred Harper, Jr., in the ultra creepy episode of "The Twilight Zone" entitled The Masks.
We here at Dread Central would like to take this time to offer our sincerest of condolences to Sues' many friends, family members, and constituents. Your legacy lives on, sir. Rest easy!
