Saul Rubinek was really hit in the nose with a bat during the scene where he falls down the stairs at the stadium. Since Rubinek was caught off guard, his reaction gave the scene a more realistic look. The director, not thinking twice, decided to leave it in the final cut.
The cake shop Ted's character works in is the same meat shop seen in So I Married an Axe Murderer (1993).

The scene in which Bobby decks a seller, for interrupting his concentration while searching for coins with Carl, was improvised and accidental. Saul Rubinek was furious at the bystander for interrupting their scene, so Rubinek slugged him. Then, realizing what he had done, he took off with Gailard. Director Howard Deutch thought the shot was hilarious, and decided to keep it in the film.
Macaulay Culkin was given time to let his hair grow out in order to play Timmy Gleason. But as soon as filming was done, Culkin wasted no time in getting his hair cut back to the way it was.
