Kevin Costner might be well known for his role as John Dutton in the Yellowstone universe. But years before that, he got on board The Bodyguard which established his everlasting friendship with legendary singer Whitney Houston. This movie released in 1992 was her acting debut project and turned out to be a huge success with her soundtrack I Will Always Love You becoming a global sensation.

However, given that she was a big name in the music industry, she had reservations before saying yes to the movie. Not only that, she also didn’t want to get the level of hate that pop icon Madonna got when she participated in A Certain Sacrifice released in 1985.

The early 1990s were a good time for the now-moribund genre of the erotic thriller. Mainstream Hollywood was pushing the limits of what audiences wanted to see in terms of sex and nudity, and multiple movies tapped into that sexual zeitgeist. Films like "Poison Ivy" (with Drew Barrymore) and "The Hand that Rocks the Cradle" (with Rebecca De Mornay) warned that one's babysitters might be there to take over the family with their sexual wiles, while "The Last Seduction," "Jade," "Sliver," and "Color of Night" tinged standard thrillers with a sexual element. Madonna starred in "Body of Evidence," a movie about a woman who accidentally sexed her partner to death. A lot of the genre's popularity was kicked by the assertive sexuality on display in Adrian Lyne's 1987 ultra-hit "Fatal Attraction."
The biggest hits of the day were probably Lyne's "Indecent Proposal" and Paul Verhoeven's "Basic Instinct," with the former making $266 million,...

Friday’s Dr Phil Primetime special, “Body of Evidence,” tackles a topic that should give even the most ardent Dr. Phil skeptic pause: Is the American food supply making us sick? It’s a question with potentially serious consequences, given the undeniable rise in obesity and chronic illnesses. Dr. Phil’s primetime foray isn’t exactly breaking new ground; […]

Music icon Madonna is no stranger to the film side of entertainment. The singer would crossover into movies on many occasions, including starring in a variety of projects like Body of Evidence, A League of Their Own and Dick Tracy. For a time, she would even be married to director Guy Ritchie, who she made a film with called Swept Away. In the past few years, Madonna had been reportedly developing a biopic about herself in which she would be in the rare position to both write and direct. Early last year, the project would not come together and she scrapped the project just ahead of her world tour.
Deadline is now reporting that the 80s pop icon teased on her Instagram that the project is once again in development. Madonna posted a slideshow that featured a series of pictures of her working on a typewriter and her table is littered with screenplay pages.

Madonna is back at work on her biopic, as the iconic singer confirmed on social media.
Madonna shared on Instagram that she is back writing the film’s screenplay, with the feature now titled “Who’s That Girl,” a classic reference in the annals of Madonna lore. “Who’s That Girl” is also the title of James Foley’s 1987 comedy feature (which marked one of Madonna’s first movie roles and co-starred Griffin Dunne), a soundtrack single for the film, and Madonna’s world tour that same year.
“I Need A-lot of Bandz to make this………..Okay,” Madonna captioned, adding, “Story of my life.”

Spike Lee defends casting Madonna in Girl 6, saying he didn't care about backlash and she was the right choice. Madonna's acting career had mixed success, with hits like Desperately Seeking Susan and A League of Their Own, but also many flops. Girl 6 was another commercial and critical failure for Madonna, but Lee stands by his decision to cast her.
Spike Lee recalls the backlash he received after casting pop sensation Madonna in his 1996 critically mixed comedy, Girl 6. Released 28 years ago, Girl 6 followed the story of young actor Judy (Theresa Randle), who becomes disillusioned with her job after being asked to expose her breasts during an audition. Judy secures a new job at a call center, eventually finding a sense of purpose as a phone sex operator. Lee cast Madonna as boss #3 in the comedy, playing a well-manicured supervisor who fends off over-the-top requests from their clients.

Spike Lee didn’t care that Madonna wasn’t quite in vogue when casting his 1996 film “Girl 6.”
Lee, who has counted Madonna as a personal friend for years, told Vulture that he wanted the “Material Girl” singer to have a cameo in the feature after her bestie Debi Mazar was also cast. Mazar played a phone-sex operator whose coworker (Theresa Randle) is an aspiring actress. Madonna stars as their boss.
Yet Madonna’s acting career was in a downward spiral at the time after her two box office flops, “Body of Evidence” and “Dangerous Game.” Lee, regardless, was undeterred.
“I didn’t give a fuck,” Lee said. “She’s who I had in mind, and she wanted to do it, so that was it. She’s a pro.”
Lee also gave Madonna script notes on her now-shelved biopic that was set to star Julia Garner. Rumored to be titled “Little Sparrow,...

Fifty Shades of Grey can be streamed exclusively on Netflix, introducing viewers to the steamy romance between Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey. The sequels, Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed, are available for rent or purchase on various platforms, but not on Netflix. The trilogy was inspired by the success of erotic thrillers in the '90s, and although it faced production challenges, it revived interest in the genre.
All three 50 Shades Of Grey movies are available to stream from the comfort of viewers' homes, though they are located on different platforms. Madonna‘s songs could get edgy, but one draws lyrics from a famous nursery rhyme. Most other pop stars would sound ridiculous singing such lyrics, but the Material Girl knew what she was doing. Madonna worked with a great producer to bring the song to life. He revealed what he thought of the Queen of Pop during the early days of her career.
Madonna’s songs where originally more family-friendly
Madonna really started getting risque when she put out her hit “Like a Virgin” in 1984. By the early 1990s, she released a book called Sex, an album called Erotica, and a kinky thriller called Body of Evidence. However, when she started her career, the Queen of Pop’s image was more family-friendly. Her first album, Madonna, could be considered a bubblegum pop album.
Perhaps its most bubblegum song is “Lucky Star.” The track repeatedly uses the line “starlight / star bright” from “Twinkle,...

The May December actor has been promoting her loathing of ‘mashed mush’ more passionately than her new movie. Could this left-field tactic win her an Academy Award?
Julianne Moore got where she is today thanks to her pathological need to go against the grain. She started her career in soap operas, and could have made a perfectly decent living there, but then she decided to change things up and move into film. Again, she could have made a perfectly decent career starring in the sort of fare she was offered, in entertaining schlock like Body of Evidence and The Hand that Rocks the Cradle, but she decided to change things up once more by seeking out work with auteurs like Paul Thomas Anderson and the Coen Brothers. And it worked, winning her an Oscar in the process.

There’s a lot to watch on Prime Video in October and, as you may have guessed, there’s spooky stuff galore in amongst Prime’s usual rotation of extensive library content.
In the movie Totally Killer, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina star Kiernan Shipka travels back in time to the 1980s to stop a serial killer. Then there’s Make Me Scream, a Halloween special that challenges celebrities to “a gruesome game of terror.” Renfield will also be streaming on the service for anyone who’s been dying (muahahaha!) to catch the Nic Cage Dracula film.
Outside of Prime Video’s more creepy fare, Shazam! Fury Of The Gods will debut, Upload will be back for a third season, and new film Awareness should scratch your sci-fi itch. Meanwhile, for Frasier heads – those who consider themselves utterly Frasier-pilled – all eleven seasons of the Cheers spinoff show will be streaming at the touch of a button.

In the pantheon of Erotic Thrillers, Body of Evidence is an odd one. It falls into the even more niche sub-category of courtroom thrillers, which spend as much time on the naughty bits as they do with witnesses on the stand or in depositions (see also: Disclosure).
Enter Body of Evidence. In the film, femme fatale Rebecca Carlson (Madonna) is arrested and charged with murder when her older, wealthy boyfriend John Marsh (Michael Forest) is found dead. Turns out the pair had quite the risqué sex life (or at least as risqué as mainstream Hollywood fare was willing to address in 1993): they were having non-missionary sex that involved some light bondage (ie: restraints such as belts and handcuffs).
District Attorney Robert Garrett (Joe Mantegna) makes it clear to the jury in his opening remarks that Rebecca’s body is the murder weapon. She induced Marsh’s fatal heart attack...

Here's where to watch the 50 Shades Of Grey movies online, including whether they're on Netflix, Hulu or Prime. This led to a wealth of movies chasing that steamy bandwagon, but after the critical and commercial failures of Madonna's Body Of Evidence and Bruce Willis' Color Of Night, this subgenre quickly died off. They were revived — albeit briefly — thanks to the success of 2015's 50 Shades Of Grey, an adaptation of E.J. James' bestselling novel.

(Kanye West’s last-minute drop-off went seemingly unnoticed.)
History was made throughout the weekend, as Eilish became the youngest headliner in history, and Pabllo Vittar the first drag queen to perform.

Machine Gun Kelly and Megan Fox's wedding is going to rock. The "Emo Girl" singer, 31, and Jennifer's Body star, 35, announced that they had gotten engaged—and later drank each other's blood in celebration—while in Puerto Rico in January. Now, a source close to Megan exclusively tells E! News that the twin flames' wedding plans are officially underway. "Megan and Mgk are not in a huge rush to tie the knot, but have been starting to engage in the planning process," the source said. "They would love to get married next year if they can nail down all of the details by then, but they don't have a firm...

Skin is always in if you're Megan Fox. On March 20, the 35-year-old actress was spotted in yet another revealing ensemble as she joined her fiancé, Machine Gun Kelly as he performed at Lollapalooza in Santiago, Chile. As she snapped photos of the "Bloody Valentine" musician from backstage, the Jennifer's Body star rocked a sexy black leather triangle bra adorned with silver studs, underneath a cropped motorcycle jacket. On the bottom she wore a pair of baggy, high-waisted jeans with a ripped-knee detail. She accessorized the fierce look with leopard-print belt, spiked choker collar and black trucker hat emblazoned with a hot pink C, perhaps as a tribute to...

The 2022 Brit Awards was a night filled with good music and fun moments at the O2 Arena in London, hosted by Mo Gilligan - with the help of Maya Jama - and held in front of an audience of nominees, presenters, and key workers.
It's be the second time the BRITs has taken place in real life since the pandemic, and we weren't disappointed with the great lineup of performances, including best new artist winner Little Simz, BRITs rising star Holly Humberstone, and best rock/alternative act Sam Fender - to name a few. The roster of live presenters was pretty great, too. Idris Elba, Celeste, Tom Daley, Mo Farrah, and Clara Amfo were among the many.

Searchlight’s “Nightmare Alley” takes place mostly in 1939-41, but its sensibility is contemporary. It’s a time-capsule movie: If future generations want to know what life was like in the 21st century, tell them to see this film.
“Nightmare,” written by Guillermo Del Toro (who directs) and Kim Morgan, depicts a world of liars and charlatans who manipulate the truth to gain wealth and/or power. And the general public is surprisingly gullible. As Lilith (Cate Blanchett) says to Stan (Bradley Cooper), “You don’t fool people, Stan, they fool themselves.”
Del Toro tells Variety, “We are in a moment of great anxiety, post-discourse, post-truth, almost as if we, as a society, are going through a psychotic episode. Everybody curates the reality of the world, every piece of information, to fit their own ‘truth. And I mean everybody; this is not about a particular person or party. This is...

BTS were the big winners at the 2021 American Music Awards, prevailing in all three of their categories: Favorite Pop Duo or Group, Favorite Pop Song for “Butter,” and Artist of the Year. In the top category, they defeated Taylor Swift, who had won that award six times before, including the last three in a row. In fact, this is only the second time Swift has ever lost when nominated. She was previously defeated by One Direction in 2015. Check out the complete list of winners here.
But don’t feel too bad, Swifties. Taylor still won twice at these fan-voted kudos: Favorite Female Pop Artist and Favorite Pop Album for “Evermore.” Those were her 33rd and 34th career victories, extending her record as the most honored artist in AMAs history.

2021 American Music Awards hip-hop predictions: Drake vs. Lil Baby? Megan Thee Stallion vs. Cardi B?
Drake, Cardi B, Lil Baby, and Megan Thee Stallion are among the big names nominated at the 2021 American Music Awards. From possible firsts to returning champs, let’s take a look at who might win this year in hip-hop categories.
SEEAmerican Music Awards nominations: Full list of contenders Favorite Male Hip-Hop Artist
This will likely be a face-off between Drake and Lil Baby. Both rappers have large fan bases and have ruled hip-hop for the last couple of years. I will give the slight edge to Drake; the success of “Certified Lover Boy” added to his pop crossover appeal and might seal the deal; having won this award before doesn’t hurt. Still, a core audience might go for the pure hip-hop of Lil Baby, who has undoubtedly amassed a strong following of his own. Also don’t underestimate an upset by Pop Smoke due to another commercially successful year...

Kristen Stewart’s clear path to the Oscars 2022 Best Actress award hit a speed bump this week as the first reactions to Ridley Scott’s star-studded “House of Gucci” put Lady Gaga immediately in the awards conversation.
“There’s a true standout performance here from Lady Gaga, funny and fearless and — crucially, in a movie prone to losing the thread — completely commanding,” Vanity Fair awards writer David Canfield wrote in his analysis of the film, reviews for which are embargoed until November 23 — just one day before its theatrical release. “She centers, even grounds the movie while having a grand time doing so. Accordingly, she’s firmly in the conversation for a second best-actress nomination, but how far she can go largely depends on the movie around her.”

There's no doubt about this: Megan Fox is Machine Gun Kelly's number one fan! The Jennifer's Body actress fiercely showed her support for the 31-year-old rocker during his show at The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles on Friday night, Oct. 15. The couple most certainly turned up the heat and packed on the Pda at the concert—not that fans would expect anything less from the two, who have displayed their love on and offstage since they began dating last year and recently dominated social media with a sexy joint magazine shoot and candid interview. At one point during Friday's concert, the 35-year-old actress, who finalized her divorce from Brian...

Some horror movies, especially slasher flicks, seem to get a reboot or a sequel every few years. Those movies have a lasting legacy with audiences that love the scare. While The Faculty hasn't seen any reboots, it's a reboot itself of 1951's The Puppet Masters, and one that's become a cult classic.

The combination of new talent and known players worked in the movie's favor as the audience didn't know which teen was really an alien in disguise. A similar combination of new faces and known teen talent would need to be used to get the same effect today.

October’s here and it’s time to get spooked. After last year’s superb “’70s Horror” lineup, the Criterion Channel commemorates October with a couple series: “Universal Horror,” which does what it says on the tin (with special notice to the Spanish-language Dracula), and “Home Invasion,” which runs the gamut from Romero to Oshima with Polanski and Haneke in the mix. Lest we disregard the programming of Cindy Sherman’s one feature, Office Killer, and Jennifer’s Body, whose lifespan has gone from gimmick to forgotten to Criterion Channel. And if you want to stretch ideas of genre just a hair, their “True Crime” selection gets at darker shades of human nature.
It’s not all chills and thrills, mind. October also boasts a Kirk Douglas repertoire, movies by Doris Wishman and Wayne Wang, plus Manoel de Oliveira’s rarely screened Porto of My Childhood. And Edgar Wright gets the “Adventures in Moviegoing” treatment,...

2022 Grammys could be more diverse than ever, with contenders ranging from hip-hop to K-Pop to Latin
It’s no secret that award shows often struggle with diversity. Moments like #OscarsSoWhite and #GrammysSoMale have been responses to the constant disrespect some award shows have shown to marginalized groups, particularly women and people of color. In particular, the Grammys have had a rocky relationship with representation, struggling less with who they nominate and more with who wins. A lot of people have also felt like the Grammys relegate artists of color — especially Black artists — to “Black” categories like R&b and rap, while going for pop, rock, and country more often in top categories. But this year, with a landmark number of diverse artists from every part of the world eligible for consideration, how could 2022 Grammys diversity turn out?

Small Body is the tale of a young woman who goes on an epic journey with precious cargo strapped to her back. She encounters highway robbers and non-binary loners, singing fishwives and superstitious coalminers. The precious cargo is the small body of the title, for the heroine, Agata (Celeste Cescutti) has given birth to a stillborn daughter. It is her mission to reach a mythical sanctuary where stillborn babies can miraculously take their first breath and thus be baptized.
The setting is northeast Italy and is filmed in the various dialects and languages of that territory of fluctuating borders. When the story shifts geographically, language changes and interpreters are necessary to progress to her destination. The last few months have been great for hip-hop.
