In a recent interview with Manga Passion, Mayu Nakamura, the manga editor of Shoujo Manga Magazine Bessatsu Friend, shed light on the preference of live-action adaptations over anime for shoujo manga.

While acknowledging that shoujo manga could indeed be suitable for anime adaptation, Nakamura highlighted the significant demand for live-action series and movies within Japan, particularly targeting young women.

According to Nakamura, the Japanese film industry aims to produce a certain number of romance movies annually, often intended for viewing on dates. Shoujo manga, with their diverse romantic storylines, thus offer attractive source material for such productions. Furthermore, Nakamura noted the industry’s reliance on young male actors to portray leading roles in these romance movies, thereby enhancing their popularity.

We’ve now got just a few days left of November, so it’s time to take a look ahead at everything that’s headed to the major streaming networks in December. As it’s Christmas, Netflix, Disney Plus, HBO Max, Hulu and Prime Video have extra special hauls ready to gift to their subscribers this holiday season, with literally hundreds of new movies and TV shows dropping over the course of the month.

All the various sites – excepting Disney Plus – are serving up a ton of newly licensed films on December 1st. Netflix, for instance, is adding such classics as E.T., Little Nicky and the first three Jurassic Parks. There's always a lot of excitement when a former cast member returns to a veteran series after some time away, but it was clear from the get-go that Mike had continued to work on himself in his new locale. 

If you watch Suits online, you know that he has always advocated for what was right -- even if he did have a job as a lawyer without actually attending Harvard University. 

By the time Mike left Suits behind on Suits Season 8, he was more intrigued by pro-bono cases that helped people who were less fortunate, and that Mike shone through on "If the Shoe Fits."

If one thing was obvious, it was that Mike no longer fitted into the world of the show.

SXSW hit a high note with the world premiere of the highly anticipated, and crowd funded, Veronica Mars movie on Saturday, March 8.

Veronica Mars, known for being the largest Kickstarter project, is gearing up for its Friday, March 14 release. The official SXSW premiere took place Saturday afternoon, but there was also a second premiere specifically for the film’s Kickstarter backers. Of the 92,000 backers who gave to the film, every fan who gave $750 or more received two tickets to the fan premiere and after-party. The Kickstarter campaign raised the most amount of money in Kickstarter history (about $5.7 million).

“I’m just shocked that I’m either on this stage or in the film. I thought I was going to have to be the $10,000 backer to have a speaking line,” actor Chris Lowell joked at the premiere.

We’ve heard and seen hide nor hair about it in the almost six months since, but those who wanted the two to team-up need not worry.
