Ben Affleck is a man of many talents. His CV is crammed with impressive achievements - actor, writer, director, producer, international heart-throb, and now he can add another string to his already brimming bow - Batman.

His casting in the sought-after Hollywood role for the Man of Steel sequel was announced this morning (August 23) and sent social media into overdrive. The movie will mark the first time that these two superheroes have appeared on the big screen together.

To honour the latest Batman role, we've got 10 Affleck-related facts for you below...

1. Benjamin Geza Affleck-Boldt was born in Berkeley, California on August 15, 1972. He was born to mother Christine, who was a teacher, and father Timothy, a social worker turned director and actor. Affleck is of English, Irish, German, Swedish, Scottish and French ancestry and he has a younger brother, actor Casey, who was born after the family moved to Massachusetts.

Here comes the fourth article in my tribute to Halloween – each article featuring movies from a different horror sub-genre. For this article we’re taking a look at a rather creepy movie monster…the disembodied hand.

I’m sure the first thing that comes to mind when people hear “disembodied hand” is The Addams Family with the classic horror/comedy of Thing. Or maybe they think “Hey, what happened to my hand!!”. Anyway, I always wanted to see the tunnels by which Thing moved through the Addams mansion. Did they consist of smooth, round tubes or perhaps they were just a series of long, wooden boxes with miniature ladders that led upstairs when needed. Maybe Thing had a pneumatic system that sucked him through plastic tubes from location to location? I guess I’ll never solve that brainteaser.

Of course, the unsolvable mystery of Thing’s transportation routes won’t...

Ben Affleck is big in Russia. How else to explain the fact that not once, but twice, during our interview, he is interrupted by fans from Moscow wanting to meet the Oscar winner? Affleck gamely poses for photos as one man explains, "I'm an actor. I don't speak English, sorry. But 'Gone Baby Gone'—very, very good." Affleck thanks him for the praise, and as the man leaves he adds, "Your brother very, very good actor. You, good director!"If anyone had doubts about that last statement after Affleck's directorial debut, "Gone Baby Gone," they disappeared with the September release of the taut, original thriller "The Town."
