Jersey Shore star Angelina Pivarnick continues to be the center of drama in the storylines on the Family Vacation spin-off.
After seeing several episodes focused on her and her fiance, Vinny Tortorella’s ongoing relationship struggles, fans recently called out her issues.
The couple argued during the cast’s trip to the Versace Mansion in Miami, Florida, which caused Angelina to vent to her castmates, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi and Jenni “JWoww” Farley.
Meanwhile, Tortorella, also known as Vinny 2.0, opened up to castmate Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino.
Ultimately, Angelina wondered why she remained with her fiance if she always felt so alone and they weren’t progressing toward relationship goals, including marriage and having kids.
A scene from Family Vacation featured Angelina and Vinny 2.0 receiving advice from castmates, including Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancola, about what they should consider.

Many movies aren't as wholesome and lighthearted as people assume they are, and watching them closely reveals they can be surprisingly dark. This is especially true when it comes to children's movies, as animation, comedy and music can gloss over some heavy themes. However, these elements can do the same in more mature movies in some circumstances, and people might forget about some darker moments.
Older movies like Breakfast at Tiffany's and The Breakfast Club can hide some darkness behind a glossy veneer of nostalgia. When people think of these classics, they often think about the fashion, the music or the actors. This ignores some distressing topics, like depression, trauma and isolation. Ultimately, it's best to dispell any assumptions about a movie before judging it fairly, but this isn't always easy.

Two years ago, Universal Pictures teamed with producers David Leitch and Kelly McCormick of 87North Productions and director Tommy Wirkola to bring us the highly entertaining, R-rated holiday thriller Violent Night (read our 8/10 review at This Link)… and now, Violent Night 2 appears to be heading toward production. Star David Harbour was spotted with the script in his hand earlier this month, and during an interview with Collider, screenwriters Patrick Casey and Josh Miller assured that they know what fans are hoping to see in the sequel.
While Casey and Miller have stayed busy in recent years by writing each film in the Sonic the Hedgehog trilogy, they have taken the occasional break from scripting Sonic action to write about Santa Claus taking on bad guys. Violent Night showed what happens when a team of elite mercenaries breaks into a wealthy family compound on Christmas Eve, taking everyone inside hostage.

Almost 35 years after the film first premiered, Home Alone director Chris Columbus is offering answers for some of the most frequently asked questions around the characters in the movie — including how the McCallister family could afford their beautiful home in Chicago.
On a recent episode of The Hollywood Reporter’s Awards Chatter podcast, Columbus explained that the mannequins briefly shown in the basement of the house were a hint that family matriarch Kate McCallister (Catherine O’Hara) was a high-profile fashion designer.
“The father could have, based on [writer] John Hughes’ own experience, worked in advertising, but I don’t remember what the father did,” the director continued. “Not organized crime — even though there was, at the time, a lot of organized crime in Chicago.”
Elsewhere in the episode, Columbus discussed seeing over 300 young actors for the role of Kevin before landing on McCaulay Culkin. He also spoke to the roundabout way...

Director Chris Columbus recently spoke to Vanity Fair about the strange events that led to his departure from National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. His decision was partly based on awkward interactions with Chevy Chase, the film’s star.
Columbus was just starting as a director at the time. With his film Heartbreak Hotel, he had just gone through what he called a “complete disaster.” Well-known director John Hughes, Columbus’s agent, offered him the story for Christmas Vacation. It looked like a great chance.
Things went well at the start of filming, with Columbus already getting a second unit video in Chicago during the holidays. But after meeting Chase twice, things changed.
Columbus described his plans for the film during their initial meeting. Chase didn’t say a word for thirty minutes. After that, he asked Columbus, “Wait a second.” “Are you the director?” When Columbus said yes, Chase said,...

A “bizarre” encounter with actor Chevy Chase led then-unknown filmmaker Chris Columbus to walk off National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. The Nosferatu producer recalled the experience publicly for the first time, detailing that Chase’s disrespectful interactions toward him led him to quit at a time when he desperately needed a next project.
In a new sit-down with Vanity Fair, Columbus recounted connecting with John Hughes, who was repped by the same agent at the time, following the release of a “complete disaster” of a film called Heartbreak Hotel. After the box-office and critical failure, The Breakfast Club director sent him the script for Christmas Vacation.
Columbus sprung into action, beginning to shoot second unit in Chicago around Christmastime.

“Home Alone” director Chris Columbus said during an interview with Vanity Fair that it was ultimately Chevy Chase who opened the door for him to helm the 1990 Christmas comedy classic. That’s because Columbus was originally working with screenwriter John Hughes on 1989’s “Christmas Vacation,” starring Chase. Columbus was hired to direct the comedy and was in the middle of second unit shooting when he met Chase for the first time.
“I was signed on…and then I met Chevy Chase. Even given my situation at the time, where I desperately needed to make a film, I realized I couldn’t work with the guy,” Columbus said. “I was one of the many who couldn’t work with him. The 1980s was a golden age of movie theme songs. For example, the decade gave us the perennial favorite “Holiday Road” by Lindsey Buckingham from National Lampoon’s Vacation. The tune fit a sequence from the movie that Buckingham had not seen.
Lindsey Buckingham said he had some ‘luck’ with ‘Holiday Road’
During a 2018 interview with Stereogum, Buckingham discussed writing “Holiday Road” for National Lampoon’s Vacation. He was approached by director Harold Ramis. “We came up with this thing, and I remember very clearly him coming out to the studio with a couple of his people, producers, Matty [Simmons], I think, and listening to this song for the first time,” he said. “He was literally blown away at how effective it was and how some of the subject matter, without me even having seen the film, was addressed.”

One of the rare classic rock songs in the Christmas music canon is “Holiday Road” by Lindsey Buckingham. The tune in question is fun. However, it doesn’t deserve a place on any Christmas playlist.
‘Holiday Road’ by Lindsey Buckingham is about a summer vacation
Firstly, some background. After Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” became a hit in the 1990s, the canon of holiday music was almost completely closed for about 20 years. During that time, radio programmers never took to new songs. However, they tried to add some older songs with dubious connections to Christmas to their holiday playlists.
One of these tunes was Madonna’s “Holiday.” The track in question sounds summery and has nothing to do with Yuletide. Even more popular was Buckingham’s “Holiday Road.” The track has nothing to do with Christmas either. In fact, the tune comes from National Lampoon’s Vacation,...

We all know that Chris Columbus directed one of the greatest Christmas movies ever in Home Alone, but did you know it may never have happened if he didn’t clash with the star of another holiday essential? Let’s check out how Columbus was not only drawn to Nero’s Pizza but why he filled in the National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation pool with cement.
Chris Columbus was actually set to direct National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, with none other than John Hughes recruiting him for the job. As Columbus remembered, “John Hughes sent me the script for Christmas Vacation. I love Christmas, so to do a Christmas comedy had been a dream.” So what kept Columbus from the gig? “I went out to dinner with Chevy Chase [the movie’s star]. After a slew of fatal fake news last year, comedians escaped death hoaxes in 2024. Mostly anyway. We already debunked the rumor that Chevy Chase was making another Christmas Vacation movie, but plenty of other comedy-adjacent con jobs tried to fool us this year.
Here are five more comedian hoaxes from 2024 that fact-checking site Snopes quickly put the kibosh on…
1 Steve Harvey Is Dead — Again
Poor Steve Harvey. After four different death hoaxes in 2023, he continued to pass away in 2024 — at least according to sketchy social media posts, YouTube videos and even paid ads.
Snopes determined those paid links were from Chinese companies promoting Google Play downloads for sketchy news apps. Safe to say that downloading “Local News: Breaking & Latest” is probably a dumb idea.
Thankfully for Family Feud fans, Snopes determined Harvey was still with us by turning on the radio and hearing a live broadcast of The Steve Harvey Morning Show.

The original director of National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation addresses leaving the movie over a fight with Chevy Chase, calling him "a complete jerk." Directed by Jeremiah S. Chechik, with a script written by John Hughes, the classic 1989 comedy and the third Vacation movie follows Clark Griswold's attempt to have a good-old-fashioned family Christmas, though his plans spiral hilariously out of control. Chevy Chase led Christmas Vacation's cast as Clark Griswold alongside Beverly D'Angelo, Juliette Lewis, Johnny Galecki, Randy Quaid, and many more.

It’s 1985, and a lanky 17-year-old is nervously pacing backstage at NBC’s Studio 8H in New York City. In just a few minutes, he’ll make history as the youngest cast member ever to grace the stage of Saturday Night Live. This isn’t just any teenager – it’s Anthony Michael Hall, already a bonafide movie star thanks to his work with writer and director John Hughes, about to take on one of the most prestigious (and pressure-filled) gigs in comedy. As the familiar strains of the SNL theme song begin to play, Hall takes a deep breath, knowing that his life is about to change yet again. But did it change for the better? Did this skinny, awkward dork continue to bless us for decades with great cinema and comedy? Or did he take a darker, more difficult path of self-destruction and/or self-discovery? Did he spend the...

It’s no secret that National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation has become something of a merchandising bonanza in recent years. There are Griswold family-themed advent calendars, board games, ornaments and even a Christmas Vacation model train set, despite the fact that there’s not a single train in the entire movie.
Plus, as we’ve mentioned before, Chevy Chase himself has been selling Christmas Vacation paraphernalia in $300 boxes (thankfully none of them contained his pet cat).
But perhaps the most bizarre product to spawn from this glut of National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation crap is the Clark Griswold stuffed bear from Build-a-Bear. Yes, this is an actual teddy bear designed to emulate Chevy Chase. Hopefully, Toy Story was wrong about playthings secretly being alive, because there’s no way that Teddy Chase (Chevy Bear?) wouldn’t immediately verbally abuse your other toys and make their lives a living hell.

Actor Chevy chase recently got fans worried when a recent photo of him surfaced online. As seen, the SNL alum appeared to be suffering a face injury. Since then, however, Chase’s rep has recently spoken out about the issue.

Since then, Chase established himself as a leading man in comedy films. Notably, he played Clark W. Griswold in the various National Lampoon’s Vacation films.

Some of the best moments in Christmas movies are the ones where classic Christmas carols are included to make a moment stand out. This happens in some of the best Christmas movies of all time, making them even more memorable. Christmas carols are an integral part of the Christmas season, so a Christmas film without them always feels like it's missing something.
These songs, while appearing in plenty of media that aren't just Christmas movies, are instantly recognizable for their connection to the Christmas season and widespread appeal. They even appear in movies that are perfect for the holiday season, despite not being Christmas movies.

Chevy Chase's 35-year-old Christmas comedy cements its status as an iconic holiday movie with its latest streaming success. After becoming the breakout star of the first season of Saturday Night Live during the 1970s, Chase left the sketch show in its second season and went on to become a comedic lead, starring in some of the most successful comedies of the 1980s. These include Caddyshack, Caddyshack II, Fletch, Fletch Lives, Oh! Heavenly Dog, Modern Problems, Spies Like Us, and Three Amigos.
One of Chase's most successful comedy ventures of the 1980s was the National Lampoon's Vacation movies, starting with the 1983 film. Inspired by John Hughes' short story Vacation '58 originally published in National Lampoon magazine, the films follow the chaotic misadventures of the Griswold family and their well-meaning yet hapless patriarch, Clark Griswold, whose attempts to create the perfect vacations for his family spiral into disastrous and hilariously awkward situations.

The tragic story of a middle-aged patriarch with undiagnosed brain injuries that cause him to act erratically, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation has become a seasonal staple for many. It’s just not the holidays until Cousin Eddie empties his septic tank, that cat gets electrocuted and Clark fantasizes about cheating on his amazing wife for the umpteenth time.
Aside from his raging, not terribly realistic libido, Clark’s other big problem is his tendency to go way overboard, often at the expense of good taste and his own personal safety. Perhaps the best example of this is his excessive Christmas lighting display, which involves covering nearly every single inch of his house in bulbs, using up as much energy as some small countries.

Ever notice how the young thespians portraying Audrey and Rusty Griswold in the Vacation movies kept getting yoinked and replaced? It wasn’t because they were terrible actors. The problem was the movies’ infrequent release schedule, meaning the actors always aged out of the parts before they had a chance to film another one. Here’s the definitive ranking of the five pairs of Audreys and Rustys rolling around the comedy multiverse.
5 Vegas Vacation
Ethan Embry and Marisol Nichols are older, more jaded versions of Rusty and Audrey — which makes sense, given the film’s location. With the help of a fake ID, Rusty somehow wins five cars playing slot machines. And Audrey gets sexualized for the first time in the series, landing a job as a go-go dancer after visiting a strip club with her pole-dancing cousin. Yuck.

The “Jersey Shore” crew is hitting Miami again. Sure, they’ve grown up, spawned mini-guidos and guidettes, and traded fist-pumping for diaper changes (sometimes). But let’s not kid ourselves: a leopard can’t change its spray tan. This time, they’re ostensibly in Miami for Deena’s family vacation, a concept as potentially combustible as a Ron-Ron juicehead rage. […]

There are enough celebrities who are currently vying (if unofficially) for the title of Christmas Queen that Lucy van Pelt has some serious competition. In terms of sheer cultural ubiquitousness, Mariah Carey seems to be the frontrunner on the strength alone of her 1994 multi-Platinum single, "All I Want for Christmas Is You." Hot on her heels are some other pop divas, including Kelly Clarkson, Ariana Grande, and Sabrina Carpenter, who've all had a holiday hit that has remained popular for years afterward. While that's all happening in the music world, things seem a little more clear-cut in Christmas movie land. Sure, numerous actors have been in huge holiday films that are watched year after year, but it's hard to think of another actor who's been in more Christmas movies then Lacey Chabert.
Chabert may not be the Christmas Queen per se, but she is certainly the queen of Hallmark movies,...

Steve Martin and John Candy's beloved holiday classic has become a streaming hit 37 years after its release. Martin rose to prominence as a popular stand-up comedian during the 1970s and went on to star in movies such as Three Amigos, Bowfinger, Looney Tunes: Back in Action and played family patriarchs in the Father of the Bride and Cheaper by the Dozen films. Over his career, Martin has starred in a few Christmas movies; 1994's Mixed Nuts and 2015's Love the Coopers.
On the other hand, Candy rose to prominence as a member of Second City and starred in movies such as Stripes, Splash, and Spaceballs. During the 1980s, Candy was a frequent collaborator of writer-director John Hughes, starring in The Great Outdoors, written by Hughes, and Uncle Buck, written and directed by Hughes. Rusty and Audrey Griswold were famously played by a different actor in each of the National Lampoon’s Vacation movies, and that included some huge stars. The Griswold family’s patriarch and matriarch, Clark and Ellen, were consistently played by Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo across the whole franchise — even in the 2015 reboot, two decades after the last movie — but the kids were always replaced with new cast members in each subsequent sequel. It practically became a running joke throughout the series that Clark and Ellen’s kids looked totally different and aged inconsistently from movie to movie.
Part of the reason for casting new actors as Rusty and Audrey in the National Lampoon’s Vacation movies is that child actors age a lot faster than their adult co-stars. Whereas Chase and D’Angelo looked more or less the same in the 14 years between the original Vacation film and the fourth one, Vegas Vacation,...

For over 30 years, Randy Quaid was one of Hollywood's most colorful and dependable character actors. His career got off to a propitious start with his appearance in Peter Bogdanovich's 1971 classic "The Last Picture Show," and quickly took flight when he earned a Best Supporting Actor nomination for his portrayal of the sensitive, soon-to-be-imprisoned screw-up Meadows in "The Last Detail." 10 years later, Quaid achieved film doofus immortality as the loan-seeking rube Cousin Eddie Johnson in Harold Ramis' "National Lampoon's Vacation." Quaid had been funny in movies before, but now he was a proper drama-comedy double threat, and his brand of performance wasn't the type to curdle. He had a long, profitable journey ahead of him provided he didn't do something crazy like accuse the industry's most powerful people of trying to kill him.
Randy Quaid's downfall was so surreal it felt like performance art like he was playing Cousin Eddie on peyote.

(Welcome to Tales from the Box Office, our column that examines box office miracles, disasters, and everything in between, as well as what we can learn from them.)
There are plenty of classic Christmas movies out there. The likes of "It's a Wonderful Life" and "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" have been staples of the holiday season for decades (and they're likely to remain so for decades more to come). Being in the annual Christmas movie business is good business. Just look at what Hallmark cranks out every year around the winter holidays. But the real money is in making that one movie that winds up in the rotation annually, becoming part of the larger cultural conversation surrounding Christmas.
In 1989, Warner Bros. released the third installment in the "Vacation" franchise following National Lampoon's "Vacation" in 1983 and "European Vacation" in 1985. Wisely, with this third entry, the property went the Christmas route...

National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation is one of the most beloved Christmas comedies because of the more ridiculous aspects of the plot and the cast's funny delivery. However, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation 2: Cousin Eddie's Island Adventure was a 2003 made-for-tv movie that was not nearly as well received. Where the first Christmas Vacation holds a 70% critical and 86% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, its sequel holds only a 13% audience score, according to the review aggregator. Likewise, it was the only movie of the National Lampoon's Vacation series not to include Chevy Chase and Beverly D'Angelo.
Since Chase's Clark Griswold is the heart of the Vacation series, and often the butt of the joke, it is difficult to make a Vacation movie work without him. Instead, however, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation 2: Cousin Eddie's Island Adventure focuses on Cousin Eddie and his family when they get shipwrecked on an uninhabited island.

They're the most famous duo to play the Griswold children, Audrey and Rusty, so why didn't Juliette Lewis and Johnny Galecki return beyond National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation? Of the original National Lampoon's Vacation movies, the third outing Christmas Vacation has emerged as the favorite. Of course, the holiday setting gives audiences an excuse to revisit it every Christmas, but it's also just the funniest and warmest. The sequel continued the unspoken tradition of recasting Audrey and Rusty each time, with Juliette Lewis and Johnny Galecki inheriting the roles from Dana Hill and Jason Lively.
Christmas Vacation found Lewis and Galecki at the beginning of their acting careers, with the duo soon finding fame elsewhere. Lewis went on to roles in 1991's Cape Fear remake, the controversial Natural Born Killers, and more recently, the acclaimed thriller Yellowjackets. 'Tis the season for everyone's annual holiday movie watch (and/or re-watch), that magical time of year where we gorge ourselves on all manner of films that take place in and around the holidays. For some cinephiles, this means delving into the darkest depths of "is it a Christmas movie because it has one scene with a decorated tree in it?," while for others, it means a first-time or 70th-time viewing of canonized holiday classics. One of the joys of watching a vintage Christmas film for the first time is seeing some of your favorite actors turn up looking impossibly young. For instance, this writer just watched 1995's "Home for the Holidays" the other night, and was delighted to see a younger Robert Downey Jr. doing his signature motormouth patter.
While that film is a bit obscure in the holiday canon, "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation" is a movie that almost needs no introduction.

National Lampoons Christmas Vacation expanded the Vacation franchises ensemble by introducing audiences to the larger Griswold family tree. John Hughes, who wrote the first Vacation film and co-wrote the second one (and also wrote the original Lampoon story that the franchise is based on), returned to pen the script for Christmas Vacation. This holiday-themed threequel imagines a disastrous Griswold family Christmas with a burnt tree, an overcooked turkey, and pesky lights that wont go on when Clark wants them to.
The previous Vacation movies had focused entirely on Clark, Ellen, and their kids, but Christmas Vacation introduced audiences to the larger Griswold clan. This includes Clarks parents, Ellens parents, an aunt, an uncle, and a cousin with a family of her own. However, it can be a little confusing to figure out which side of the family each set of in-laws is on, whose uncle is the one who unwittingly blows up the Christmas decorations,...

National Lampoon's Vacation is a vintage comedy franchise beginning in the 1980s, though the lack of numerals makes it tricky to know which order to view them in. Chevy Chase is a comedy icon, which was clear from his appearances on the first season of Saturday Night Live. Chase went on to a string of movie hits, including Foul Play, Caddyshack, and Fletch. Unfortunately, Chase also has a reputation for being difficult to work with, so after a string of duds in the '90s, he was largely relegated to supporting roles or cameos.
Still, his movie star heyday yielded some classics, including National Lampoon's Vacation. Directed by Harold Ramis (Groundhog Day) and written by John Hughes (The Breakfast Club), the film detailed a disastrous family vacation, led by Chase's optimistic patriarch, Clark Griswold. Writer-director John Hughes had at least 35 credits to his name, forming a well-celebrated, memorable filmography, with 10 films standing out as his greatest. While Hughes is best known for his 1980s coming-of-age films, he made films across many different subgenres to varying degrees of success. Additionally, Hughes has more credits as a writer than a director by a large margin, so there are plenty of movies viewers dont realize he helped make. This has also led to John Hughes having many underrated movies that deserve more love.
Following some success as a writer, Hughes didnt make his directorial debut until his fifth film, Sixteen Candles. This kicked off an iconic stretch of coming-of-age films in the mid-to-late 1980s, but it wasnt his only focus at the time. As we’ve mentioned before, Kevin Smith’s Dogma was recently freed from intellectual rights purgatory where it’s been trapped by real life poop-demon Harvey Weinstein for the past several decades. Now, Smith is able to, not only re-release the film, but to sequelize it as well. And he plans to do just that.
Smith made the big announcement at this past weekend’s Vulture Festival, suggesting that Dogma 2 would feature Matt Damon and Ben Affleck returning as fallen angels Bartleby and Loki, pleasing fans who long to see the pair together in a movie that isn’t a glorified sneaker commercial.

In the early nineties, Chevy Chase was at a crossroads. He’d headlined a series of comedy hits in the eighties, including the National Lampoon’s Vacation films, two Fletch movies, and a few others, but he had some brutal flops, too. Funny Farm (underrated) and Caddyshack 2 did poorly, but Nothing But Trouble in 1991 was a nearly career-ending disaster for all involved. Suddenly, Chase’s future as a leading man looked bleak. Rather than double down on another comedy, he opted to stretch, signing on to star in a comic thriller in the vein of one of his first big hits, Foul Play, Memoirs of an Invisible Man, which was to feature cutting-edge special effects, and sports direction by one of the biggest genre directors of the time, John Carpenter.
