The film is mostly played for laughs, and is presented in a goofy, operatic, stylized way so the violence and imagery isn't that scary. However, some of the bloody images are startling.
The origin of the Phantom and his mistreatment may upset younger viewers. However, the film itself isn't really intended for them.
