Lt. Fergie Howard : Beau'll join you as soon as he gets into his civvies.
Lt. Beau Gilliam : My civvies?
Lt. Fergie Howard : You brought 'em, didn't ya?
Lt. Beau Gilliam : Yeah. But I won't wear 'em, Fergie.
Lt. Fergie Howard : I beg your pardon?
Lt. Beau Gilliam : Well you saw the duty board this morning. We were specifically ordered to wear whites. Any officer caught ashore in his civvies is gonna have his tail in a sling. And the order was signed by Admiral Fitch himself.
Lt. Fergie Howard : Old Foghorn.
Jason Eldridge : Fergie, we agreed not to break any regulations we didn't have to.
Lt. Fergie Howard : Uh huh. But we have to. We can't get into the casino in Navy uniforms. It's off limits.
Lt. Beau Gilliam : Off limits? And in civvies too? I'll be breaking two regulations at once!
Lt. Fergie Howard : That's right, it's sort of a package deal. Now get in there and get out of that uniform and that's an order, Lieutenant *junior* grade Gilliam!

Lt. Fergie Howard : Jason are you a wealthy man?
Jason Eldridge : I'm a scientist, all scientists are poor, it's the law.
-
Jason Eldridge : Fergie will you stop, we've known each other for years. Besides, she's got 60 million of her own.
Lt. Fergie Howard : What system do you use?
Pam Dunstan : The capitalistic system.
-
Tommy Dane : Did Pam tell you the good news?
Jason Eldridge : She told me the news.
-
Pam Dunstan : Say something nice about Tommy Dane or I'm leaving... Well?
Jason Eldridge : I'm thinking.
-
Pam Dunstan : Why did you run away, Jayson?
Jason Eldridge : I didn't run away; I walked.
Pam Dunstan : From me.
Jason Eldridge : From you and forty million dollars, or is it fifty?
Pam Dunstan : Sixty. Is it my fault my father manufactures frankfurters?
Jason Eldridge : Nope. It's just that they are so profitable. I can just see the story in the society page: "Penniless professor weds weenie heiress."
-
Pam Dunstan : I came to Venice to marry Tommy Dane!
Jason Eldridge : If you want to talk about something really ridiculous, you're on the right track. You don't love Tommy Dane; you don't even LIKE Tommy Dane.
Pam Dunstan : I suppose I love you.
Jason Eldridge : Well, don't you?
Pam Dunstan : Yes, heaven help me.
