When he loses his speed, former Major League Baseball pitcher, Kenny Powers (Danny McBride) is forced to move in with his brother in his old home town. Kenny takes a job as a substitute physical education teacher at his old home town.

Kenny Powers continues to struggle with life after baseball. His efforts to raise money through personal appearances falls flat and his job as a teachers assistant sees him struggling with small town community needs.

Kenny's money troubles increase and he resorts to trying to merchandise all his memorabilia from his playing days. As sales don't go as well as expected, Kenny suspects he needs God in his life.

Kenny looks to rekindle an old flame at a barbecue hosted by April and Cutler; Stevie cuts a greatest hits DVD for his favorite ballplayer in hopes of getting Kenny a big-league tryout.

Convinced he's lost his stuff, Kenny decides to give up his comeback dreams and move on as a working stiff--but his resolve is tested by arrogant car dealer Ashley Schaeffer and his new pet celebrity, a major-league arch-nemesis named Reg Mackworthy.

In the Season One finale, Kenny says goodbye to his life as a schoolteacher--and bids farewell to Dustin and his family--after he's tendered a big-league job offer in Tampa.

Kenny considers a new full-time life working in Mexico.

Kenny heads north with baby Toby in search of April and attempts to liberate Stevie from the clutches of Ashley Schaeffer.

Pro scout Roy McDaniel arrives in Myrtle Beach to ask Kenny to mentor Ivan Dochenko, a promising young Russian pitching prospect. Stevie lays down the ground rules for his return to Kennyʼs team, while grappling with Shane and Kennyʼs relationship.

Convinced his son is cursed, Kenny blames Toby for his recent travails. Later, he tries to connect with Shane's straight-laced family during a difficult time. Stevie is overcome by guilt.

Enjoying a new lease on his baseball career as the closer for the minor-league Myrtle Beach Mermen, Kenny Powers settles into a life of bodyboarding, jet-skiing and hard-partying with his catcher, Shane. A detour to Shelby to attend the one-year birthday of his child reunites Kenny with April.

Season Three Finale. As Kenny adjusts to the new realities of his life, a twist of fate alters his future with the Mermen.

Kenny treats his family and friends to an overnight trip to the local waterpark. A day of good clean fun gives way to an evening of debauchery.

Several years have taken place since we last saw Kenny Powers make the comeback that he's been waiting for, only to throw it all away for the woman he loves. Now working a boring, mundane job at a rental car facility and having given up completely on the party scene.

Since his career as a professional baseball pitcher has long past, Kenny begins to seek new fame as a professional sports commentator. Also, his path to this comes from former teammate Guy Young, who invites Kenny to be a guest on his talk show.

Kenny follows through on a threat to Gene. Stevie gets Kenny a charity to promote during Guy's goodwill dragon boat race. Taking the lead from his dad, Toby tries to find the courage to feed his new pet.
