Lew Lehr performed in vaudeville and on the musical stage until about 1930, when he began narrating and writing shorts for educational and other series entries such as "Tintypes", "Adventures of a Newsreel Cameraman", "Magic Carpet" series and "Lew Lehr's Unnatural History" series. He was also the editor, writer and commentator for Fox Movietone News, beginning in 1932, for the sequences within their newsreels called "The Dribble-Puss Parade". Whatever the subject, Lew Lehr's character had a sardonic and slightly-sour outlook on it, especially when it involved footage from old Edison films that Fox Movietone News would insert about once a month to lighten up their Newsreels. In 1946, he wrote, edited and starred in a stand-alone series of "Drizzle Puss Parade(s)", distributed by 20th Century-Fox, that usually found him casting a jaded eye on various activities he found in his travels around the United States. The man's voice and/or face was heard and/or seen in at least 300 shorts or newsreels for over 25 years beginning in 1932. - American short-story writer and novelist Ben Ames Williams was born in Macon, Mississippi, in 1889. Shortly afterwards his father, a newspaperman, bought the "Jackson Standard Journal" in Jackson, Ohio, and the family moved there. Williams grew up in the newspaper business, and while in high school he worked at the paper, starting at the bottom and eventually working his way up to writing and editing.
He graduated from Dartmouth College in 1910 and was offered a job teaching at a boys school in Connecticut, but instead took a position as a reporter for the "Boston American" newspaper. His first love was writing fiction, however, and each day after work he would go home and work on his writing. In 1915 he had his first story published, "Deep Stuff", in a publication called "The Popular Magazine". In 1917 he had a story, "The Mate of the Susie Oakes", published in "The Saturday Evening Post" magazine, a publication that over the next quarter-century would publish almost 200 of his stories. Many of them--more than 125--were set in the fictional town of Fraternity, Maine (be owned a summer home in rural Maine and loved the area) and they were wildly popular with readers.
Williams is probably best known for the film adaptations of his novels, such as Leave Her to Heaven (1945) and All the Brothers Were Valiant (1953).

- Charles Lunsford Neville Buck was born on April 15, 1879 in Midway, Woodford County, Kentucky to the Honorable Charles William Buck and Elizabeth Crow Bullitt.
Charles studied at the Cincinnati Academy of Art around 1898 to 1899. It is possible he graduated from the art academy in 1899, although I can't confirm this. After he left the art academy, he then became a cartoonist on the staff of the Louisville, Kentucky newspaper 'The Evening Post' from 1899 to 1900. Around 1900, Charles moved over to the editorial staff of the Louisville Evening Post and Morning Herald. He worked as a reporter on the staff until around 1908.
While on staff at the newspaper, Mr. Buck studied at the University of Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky; where he acquired a law degree in 1902. Although he passed the bar in 1902, he never practiced law.
It was from 1908 on, that he tried his hand at writing short stories, and he culminated his writing ambitions with his first novel 'The Key to Yesterday' in 1910. From that point forward, his writing career soared with the author totaling 24 novels in the period spanning 1910 to about 1932. Nine of those novels were scripted and made into silent films. Unfortunately, only one of those silent films still exists today.
Charles married Margaret Field DeMotte in New York City on June 20, 1918. Margaret had a son John F. DeMotte, from her previous marriage to Lawrence DeMotte; but Margaret and Mr. Buck never had any children.
It is not known (to this author) what Charles did after 1932. His life is shrouded in relative obscurity from 1932 to his death in Brookline, Massachusetts in August of 1957.
