The series had a very strange but also alluring title, so I thought of trying the it out.
It turned out to be one of the most hilarious, funny, but at the same time thoughtful and profound amines I've seen in a long time.
It borrows the theme of building a trading business between parallel worlds from the "The Merchant Princes" series by Charles Stross. It then applies the lead role of traveler on a very different, young and energetic Japanese woman named Mitsuha.
At first glance this may look like "shoujo anime" for girls, but very soon our heroine learns she need to take a genuine course in how to handle weapons and build a relation with those who can supply adequate protection in a world both similar and at the same time very different from our own.
I think the twelve episodes makes for a complete series, but I sincerely hope it will be greenlighted for a second season!
