“Adolescence” was being talked about as this year’s “Baby Reindeer” when it first debuted, being another surprise hit Netflix limited series from the U.K. making huge ratings wins without a massive marketing campaign, but it’s now in a class of its own.

The series has joined Netflix’s list of its most popular English-language TV series of all time at No. 9 with 96.7 million views thus far, pushing “Stranger Things” Season 3 (94.8 million) down to No. 10 and knocking “Bridgerton” Season 2 (93.8 million) off the list.

The feat becomes even more impressive considering that “Adolescence” achieved the total in just 17 days. Netflix measures its most popular series lists accounting for 91 days of viewership, meaning “Adolescence” has more than two months to keep climbing higher.

The “Dexter” mythology continues. “Dexter: Original Sin” has been renewed for a Season 2 at Paramount+ with Showtime.

Showrunner and executive producer Clyde Phillips will return to the series. Though production dates have yet to be set, TheWrap has learned the writers room for this upcoming season will be opening soon.

This renewal is far from surprising given the popularity of Season 1. That installment was the most streamed Showtime original that the network has seen in 10 years, a boost that likely has to do with Showtime’s streaming options moving exclusively to the more robust Paramount+ in 2023. The season finale for Season 1 scored 2.68 million global viewers, making it the most-watched episode of the season. The series also saw over 15 million engagements across social media during Season 1.

HBO’s upcoming DC series “Lanterns” has added Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, one of multiple Green Lanterns in the cast.

This will be far from Fillion’s first time playing a Lantern. He debuted as one of DC’s green heroes in the 2011 animated film “Green Lantern: Emerald Knights.” In it, he was the voice actor for Hal Jordan, one of many members of the Green Lantern Corps. He played the role again in 2012’s “Justice League: Doom,” 2013’s “Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox,” 2015’s “Justice League: Throne of Atlantis,” 2018’s “The Death of Superman” and 2019’s “Reign of the Supermen.

Shailene Woodley is joining the cast of “Paradise” Season 2, TheWrap has learned. Little is known about her upcoming part other than it will be a major recurring role.

Season 3, Episode 7 scored 4.8 million viewers in the U.S. on Sunday, March 30 across HBO and Max, according to internal data from Warner Bros. Discovery, reaching the biggest audience “The White Lotus” has seen during a debut night across its three installments.

Fox News delivered its highest-rated quarter in cable news history for weekday total day viewers for the first quarter of 2025 while also being the fastest-growing network in television in primetime year-over-year. “Daredevil: Born Again” is mostly free of that pressure, thanks to the three seasons of “Marvel’s Daredevil” that aired on Netflix (now available on Disney+) and established Wilson Fisk a.k.a. Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio). But to sustain the resurrected series, showrunner Dario Scardapane and his writers had to build out the secondary and tertiary antagonists enough to sustain the series week-to-week. The first quarter ratings are in for the evening news programs across ABC, NBC, and CBS, and ABC’s World News Tonight is the big winner, posting gains in both total viewers and the key demographic. According to Nielsen ratings, World News Tonight, hosted by David Muir, averaged 8.13 million total viewers in the first quarter of 2025. This is up slightly from the 8.12 million in the same period last year. The show also averaged 1.16 million viewers in the coveted 25-54 demo, up 3% on the same quarter the previous year. News Corp said Wednesday it has finalized the sale of Australian pay-tv operator Foxtel Group to global sports streaming provider Dazn.

It was revealed in December 2024 that Dazn was buying Foxtel Group from majority shareholder News Corp and minority shareholder Telstra in a deal with an enterprise value of $2.2 billion.

Actor Val Kilmer, whose film roles included Iceman in Top Gun, the titular superhero in Batman Forever and Doc Holliday in Tombstone, has died at the age of 65.

Kilmer died on Tuesday of pneumonia, his daughter Mercedes tells The New York Times. He was diagnosed with throat cancer in 2015, and a procedure on his trachea reduced his speaking voice to a whisper. A 2021 documentary, Val, documented his health issues along with his film career.

Now, comedic actor Ike Barinholtz has turned his attention to satire, playing a film executive in the new Apple TV+ comedy series The Studio, which follows a struggling Hollywood movie studio and its newly appointed head of film production (Seth Rogen) and features an epic list of guest stars that includes Martin Scorsese, Bryan Cranston, Steve Buscemi, Ron Howard, and more. The Chicago native recently chatted with us about his role and answered questions about the show. The Studio is different than some of the shows you’ve done. How did you get involved with the show? Ike Barinholtz: Many, many years ago, I was talking to Seth Rogen, and he was like, “Hey, we’re writing a show about Hollywood. There’s a part that we’re writing for you.

“Adolescence” was being talked about as this year’s “Baby Reindeer” when it first debuted, being another surprise hit Netflix limited series from the U.K. making huge ratings wins without a massive marketing campaign, but it’s now in a class of its own.

The series has joined Netflix’s list of its most popular English-language TV series of all time at No. 9 with 96.7 million views thus far, pushing “Stranger Things” Season 3 (94.8 million) down to No. 10 and knocking “Bridgerton” Season 2 (93.8 million) off the list.

The feat becomes even more impressive considering that “Adolescence” achieved the total in just 17 days.

The host also spilled some more secrets about the celebrity version of the game show and how he feels about Saturday Night Live spoofing it. Merry Christmas to Amazon: The ecommerce giant’s Prime Video will get one Dec. 25 football game for the NFL 2025 season, joining Netflix on the streaming front, which will again have two games on the holiday.

The NFL confirmed that Prime Video will have a Dec. 25 game, as part of Amazon’s deal for “Thursday Night Football” (which currently runs through the 2033 season). Todd Meyer, from Las Vegas, Nevada, played against Sheree Corder, from Tampa, Florida, and Latricia Randolph, from Franklin, Tennessee, on Monday, March 31. Corder, who loves traveling and adventure, solved the first tossup — “Expect the unexpected” — and the second — “Model airplane kit” — adding $3,000 to her bank in the beginning. She also went on to solve the next puzzle, gaining a Wild Card, earning a total of $6,600. But the next puzzle was what made fans angry. It was a rare crossword, where all of the words in the puzzle related to the category and crossed over with one letter, like a crossword would. The category was “Party.” The contestants had to guess four words in the puzzle.
