Director/writer/editor. AFI Directing Fellow, Class of 2024. Soren James, born Soren James Persing, in La Crescenta, California. Self-taught (more by necessity than choice) beginning with home movies & stop-motion animation at age 10. Since then, has directed numerous shorts & music videos. Co-wrote, directed, edited, produced & released "Melrose" (2020), a feature funded using tuition money previously set aside for undergrad at Cal State Northridge. Distributed by Gravitas Ventures, released 4/20/2020, the film self-identified as a "film about twenty-somethings, made by twenty-somethings" and was enthusiastically received by its target audience. It also played Hollywood Reel Independent Film Festival & Culver City International Film Festival. Release "Wolfman, or: The Unexpected Virtue of Arrogance" (2016) a black & white 45-minute re-cut of "Big Fat Liar" (2002) in which Paul Giamatti is the main character of the movie.
