[This story contains spoilers for Monarch: Legacy of Monsters’ fifth episode, “The Way Out.”]

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters star Anna Sawai has top billing on Apple TV+’s MonsterVerse spinoff series that also includes Kurt and Wyatt Russell. Her starring role is bookended by lead roles on the streamer’s critically acclaimed drama series, Pachinko, and FX/Hulu’s highly anticipated miniseries, Shōgun. Oddly enough, despite Shōgun’s February 2024 release date, Sawai shot Shōgun in Vancouver before Monarch’s own Vancouver shoot, and within 24 hours of wrapping Shōgun, she was already recreating Godzilla’s Golden Gate Bridge sequence from Gareth Edwards’ MonsterVerse starter, Godzilla (2014).

Sawai plays a San Francisco-based teacher named Cate Randa, who’s the granddaughter of John Goodman’s Kong: Skull Island character, Bill Randa. 15 Cameras is a standalone horror film that follows a couple who spiral into obsession and voyeurism after discovering hidden cameras in their new duplex. Director Danny Madden wanted the movie to explore the concept of our voyeuristic society and the idea that anyone can be watching at any time. The film was initially planned to feature Neville Archambault, the actor who played the Slumlord in the previous movies, but he passed away, leading to changes in the story and a focus on new characters.

The “cameras” franchise – for yes, 15 Cameras is actually the Third film in the series – has had a bit of a fractured history. The first film debuted at Frightfest 2015 under the title Slumlord, then was released a year later under the title 13 Cameras. Two years later the rest of the world would get 14 Cameras, whereas here in the UK the film was quietly put out on VOD platforms as I See You… with zero fanfare or much fan reaction for that matter either.

Seven years ago, Victor Zarcoff introduced the world to a perverted creep named Gerald in his horror thriller 13 Cameras – and five years ago, Gerald returned to menace more people (including future Prey star Amber Midthunder) in the sequel 14 Cameras. Sadly, Neville Archambault, who played Gerald in both of those films, passed away unexpectedly last year at the age of 66. But Gerald’s legacy lives on in the upcoming sequel 15 Cameras, which is set to receive a VOD release from Gravitas Ventures on October 13th. "I feel like everybody knew him except me." HBO has unveiled an official trailer for an indie film titled My Dead Dad, marking the feature directorial debut of filmmaker Fabio Frey. It's co-written and produced by Pedro Correa, who also stars in it as the main character. It premiered at the 2021 Woodstock Film Festival last year, and screened at numerous other fests including Austin, Mill Valley, and Filmocracy Fest where it won the Audience Award. A burnout discovers his estranged father has died, leaving him the responsibility of managing an apartment complex. With hopes of cutting ties, he's forced to grow up, learning about the dad he never knew through the eclectic tenants. Starring Pedro Correa with Raymond Cruz, Courtney Dietz, Simon Rex, Booboo Stewart, Steven Bauer, Chris Pontius, Nicholas Duvernay, and Nate Jackson. This would probably be a bit better if it had more humor in it, as this trailer seems so depressing.

Exclusive: Fabio Frey’s feature directorial debut My Dead Dad has been acquired by OneFifty for HBO Max where it will premiere on June 1st.

The film stars Pedro Correa—who wrote the project alongside Frey— as young burnout Lucas who, after hearing his estranged father has passed away, undertakes the responsibility of managing an inherited apartment complex in Los Angeles. Determined to sell off the complex without a second thought, Lucas meets the eclectic tenants and soon discovers his father was a different man than the one he knew.

The film also stars Simon Rex, Chris Pontius, Booboo Stewart, Courtney Dietz, Raymond Cruz, and Steven Bauer.

Exclusive: Fox is moving past The Last Police. Deadline understands that the network has passed on the Kyle Killen pilot.

Based on Ben Winters’ sci-fi mystery novel The Last Policeman, the network ordered the pilot in July. It was written, directed and exec produced by the Lone Star and Awake creator via his Chapter Eleven production banner and came after he struck a direct, exclusive, broadcast-only talent deal with Fox in 2020.

The Last Police follows a small-town police detective, who, as an asteroid races toward an apocalyptic collision with Earth, believes she’s been chosen to save humanity, while her cynical partner can’t decide what he’ll enjoy more: her delusional failure, or the end of the world itself.

The Walking Dead has served up its share of infuriatingly repugnant characters over its 11 long years on AMC. Indeed, the show’s devoted audience is quite accustomed to seeing insufferable asshats torment and/or kill beloved characters, creating an empty, sour return on emotional investment.

But the show is saving the worst for last. Robert Kirkman and Charlie Adlard’s most infuriating creation of all, Sebastian Milton, is about to make his TV debut in this week’s episode. And the prospect of collectively raised blood pressure might prove to be a good thing for the series as it heads to its 2022 finish line.

The evening raised over $1.4 Million to benefit the Race to Race to Erase Ms and its Center Without Walls program, a collaboration of top Ms research centers working together as a team on ground-breaking research with the goal of treating and, ultimately, finding a cure for Ms.
