Deion McCarter is a passionate filmmaker from Nashville, Tennessee.
Deion grew up in a military family and traveled all around the US during his early childhood. He spent the majority of his later childhood growing up on Patrick Air Force Base in Cocoa Beach, Florida. He currently resides in Orlando, Florida attending Full Sail
University and studying Film Production. He got his start producing
videos for a product review company that he founded in 2009, which
showcased various products in the technology industry. He sold the
company and in 2010, Deion began attending the Academy of Digital Arts
and Media at Viera High School (Viera, FL) where he learned many
aspects of film and video production. He thrived in this setting and
produced many videos; and began directing the daily news show. He found
himself on his first TV set within his first year; and got the chance
to visit and interview the cast and crew of High Noon Entertainment
and TLC's "Cake Boss". From there Deion continued to sharpen his skills
and picked up any jobs he could to be on sets, whether they were paid
or not; Deion just loved being near the art of film and TV production.
In 2013, Deion moved to Nashville and continued to find work in the
industry to learn all he can. Deion's first short documentary film
"Music City Memoirs" released on March 21st, 2014 and went on to win a
statewide Blue Spark Award from Middle Tennessee State University for
Best Short Documentary Film. Music City Memoirs also went on to become
an Official Selection of the East Nashville Film Festival and the Tampa Bay Underground Film Festival; the film is
expected to show at more festivals throughout the nation this coming
year. Deion McCarter prides himself in his knowledge, non-stop work
ethic and professionalism on set; to Deion it isn't work, it is his
passion.
