Charli xcx is teaming up with A24 to produce and star in a new movie called “The Moment,” based on her own original idea.
The “Brat” pop star will produce the film as the first project under her new production company, Studio365. Plot details are kept under wraps.
“The Moment” is the feature directorial debut of Scottish photographer and filmmaker Aidan Zamiri, who wrote the screenplay with Bertie Brandes. Charli’s longtime collaborator A. G. Cook, a producer whose fingerprints are all over “Brat,” will compose the score.
David Hinojosa is also producing “The Moment” via his production banner 2Am. Brandon Creed, Mikey Schwartz-Wright and Zach Nutman will serve as executive producers. A24 is handling the global release of the film.
The announcement comes just hours after Charli led the Brit Awards nominations with five nods, for artist of the year, album of the year, song of the year and dance and pop act.

If there's one thing that Dowager Queen Alicent Hightower (Olivia Cooke) likes to do on House of the Dragon, it's sulk about her life choices. But if there's one other thing she likes to do, it's to wear the color green. The show is about a battle for the Iron Throne fought between two rival factions of the Targaryen dynasty. Alicent's faction is literally called the Greens, named after a green dress she once wore so well it set off a war. So of course her closet is full of nothing but green dresses.
Folks thought of this when they saw a picture of pop star Charli Xcx on the set of her new movie 100 Nights of Hero:

Anne Hathaway Once Revealed She Was ‘Not Excited’ About ‘Making Out’ With 10 Men For Chemistry Tests
Did Anne Hathaway hate making out with men for chemistry tests? (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Yes, think back to her royal spark with Robert Schwartzman in The Princess Diaries or her steamy bond with Jake Gyllenhaal in Love & Other Drugs. Masters Of The Universe Star Nicholas Galitzine Says Reboot Will Move Away From Cartoon's Campy Tone
After what felt like endless delays and false starts, we're finally going to get a live-action Masters of the Universe movie in theaters next year. Nicholas Galitzine is playing He-Man and Suicide Squad and Morbius star Jared Leto will transform into the evil Skeletor.
The Hollywood Reporter (via SFFGazette.com) recently caught up with Galitzine and asked if he's been watching the classic He-Man and the Masters of the Universe cartoon and, if so, how that compares to the upcoming movie.
"I have, yeah. Look, what I will say is our version is quite different from the original animation, which we all agree was camp within its own right and worked so well for the time," the actor explained. "But there’s been a couple of iterations, obviously since there was the Revelation version of Master of the Universe, and the comics themselves."

Masters of the Universe lead star Nicholas Galitzine compares the upcoming movie to past takes on the franchise. The 2026 movie is based on the classic Mattel toy line that depicts the battles between Eternia's hero, He-Man (Galitzine) and Skeletor (Jared Leto). The upcoming live-action Masters of the Universe movie will feature Camilla Mendes, Leto, and Aliison Brie alongside Galitzine.
Though production has yet to kick off on Masters of the Universe, Galitzine teased to The Hollywood Reporter how the adaptation will approach the franchise's source material. While the star acknowledged that the earlier and most influential versions had a distinct and memorable campiness, the upcoming movie will have its own tone. The actor highlighted how several more recent iterations of the character had their own approach to hint at how the movie would treat the source material:

Red One has broken a streaming record that may prove that Dwayne Johnson's career is undergoing a major shift. Johnson is a star who is very familiar with shifts in his career, as he originally became famous as a WWE wrestler under the moniker "The Rock." After taking on a role as the antagonist in the 2001 adventure sequel The Mummy Returns, he began to transition toward acting, and he has become a major movie star with many blockbuster movies and franchises under his belt, including the new Jumanji movies, the Fast Saga, the Moana franchise, Rampage, and more.
However, his new Christmas action-comedy underperformed both critically and commercially. On Rotten Tomatoes, it earned a dismal 30% score from critics, which ties it with 2005's Be Cool as the eighth worst-rated Dwayne Johnson movie ever. Although its audience score on the platform is a Verified Hot 90%, this has not translated to success in theaters.

There have been several different interpretations of the Masters of the Universe in various media since the original animated series aired in the '80s, but it sounds like the upcoming live-action reboot from Amazon MGM and Mattel is going to make a pretty major change to the established lore surrounding Prince Adam/He-Man.
According to scooper Daniel Richtman, the movie will introduce Adam as a regular guy in "the real world," working "a boring office job." Apparently, "the whole He-Man and Masters of the Universe story are tales he heard as a little kid."
If accurate, this would suggest that the following rumored synopsis was indeed on the level.
“10-year-old Prince Adam who crashed to Earth in a spaceship and was separated from his magical Power Sword—the only link to his home on Eternia. After tracking it down almost two decades later, Prince Adam is whisked back across...

Amazon MGM is putting together a new movie based on Masters of the Universe, about the oiled-up fantasy hero He-Man and his battle against the skull-faced Skeletor. The series began as a collection of action figures released in the early 1980s, continued with an animated series released soon after, and landed in theaters with a live-action movie in 1987, starring Dolph Lundgren as He-Man and Frank Langella as Skeletor. The new Masters of the Universe movie will star Nicholas Galitzine as He-Man. Meanwhile, Oscar winner Jared Leto will play Skeletor.
Between playing the Joker in movies like Suicide Squad and playing the title character in Morbius, Leto has made a habit in recent years of playing freaky villains and anti-heroes, so this more or less fits that pattern. Variety also revealed who will be playing some of Skeletor's henchmen: Kojo Attah is Tri-Klops, Sam C. Wilson is Trap Jaw, and Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson is Goat Man.

Jared Leto adds another creepy character to his portfolio as he is tapped to play Skeletor in the live-action Masters of the Universe film. Leto will now star opposite Nicholas Galitzine’s He-Man. However, Leto’s reputation in such characters hasn’t been great. With the mixed reception to his role as Joker in the Dceu, fans don’t expect him to outmatch Frank Langella’s performance in the 1987 version of the film.

Fans of the "Masters of the Universe" franchise might finally be getting an updated live-action adaptation of the Mattel toy line-turned-cartoon-series, the first since Gary Goddard's rather interesting 1987 attempt. Though the film has been in and out of development for years, starting at Netflix before being dropped and then picked up by Amazon, it now seems on track for a 2026 release with a red-hot rising star at its center. Helmed by "Bumblebee" director Travis Knight with a script by "ParaNorman" scribe Chris Butler, "Masters of the Universe" will star "The Idea of You," "Bottoms," and "Red, White & Royal Blue" lead Nicholas Galitzine as Prince Adam, better known as the heroic He-Man.
This casting news has been around for a little bit and seems kind of odd, as the handsome Brit is generally a little on the lean side and Prince Adam is absolutely ripped. However, a photo posted to...

What films cracked you up in 2024? Or, more specifically, what moments in movies made you laugh the hardest? Sometimes, a film can be generally meh but contains a scene or a performance so funny that you can forgive its shortcomings. Likewise, a serious drama might include something so darkly hilarious that’s shockingly effective precisely because it’s completely unexpected. And, of course, there are the unfortunate unintentional laughs that can happen when a woefully inept movie falls flat on its face. Hey, we’ll take our laughs however we can.
Below, I’ve counted down the 34 funniest moments in movies this year. Maybe the films themselves weren’t amazing — although some of them certainly were — but they had something so clever or amusing that I never forgot it. Also, I left room for a few instances in which internet users enhanced a movie’s comedic impact by introducing a...

They say a picture is worth a thousand words and the latest picture Nicholas Galitzine has shared on his Instagram is about to give all those naysayers who questioned his casting as He-Man in Mattel’s Masters of the Universe movie.
After taking a social media break the last few months, Galitzine returned on Instagram on Dec. 18 with a holiday shot posing by his Christmas tree but it wasn’t his holiday decorations that left fans speechless. In the new photo, Galitzine subtly showed off his insane transformation in preparation for filming the Amazon MGM original film which is slated to release on June 5, 2026.
While Galitzine has always been in incredible shape, one glance at the photo and it’s clear to see that Galitzine has been putting in the work to bulk up in order to play Mattel’s towering, muscular hero. Even hidden behind his casual sweatshirt, you...

Given the sheer volume of new shows released each month, it's unfortunately natural for some shows to slip through the cracks completely or fade away after having a minor moment. After one show pops, there's another one ready to take its place the next month — or even week!
Sometimes the circle of television life isn't kind to shows that should be much more popular and/or successful, and they remain underrated until they either build a cult following, fizzle out, or get canceled far too soon. The past year wasn't without its long list of shows that deserved more love.
It's no secret that 2024 was a huge year for television, on both the small screen and streaming. There were huge hits like Baby Reindeer, Presumed Innocent, Industry, Shōgun, House of the Dragon, High Potential, The Penguin, and so many shows that had everyone watching and talking.

Since its inception in the 1980s, the Masters of the Universe heroes have been serving up some compelling action, but some are far more powerful than others. With a an action cartoon series, movie specials, and a sister show, this mythical world has spawned some powerful beings. With every episode, Skeletor's evil schemes to take over Greyskull had become more and more elaborate. He-Man and his trusted companions had to outwit his advances and protect the people of Eternia. She-Ra bravely took on Hordak, and they both joined forces to defeat their enemies together.
The series came back a few times, with a reboot in 2002 and another in 2021, as well as more comic book and video game outings. A live-action Masters of the Universe movie reboot is on the way, and the yearning for all things nostalgic continues. This serves as a reminder of how impactful this world has been.

Idris Elba might be making the jump from the MCU to Eternia, leaving Heimdall behind to play another highly-skilled warrior in service of a sprawling mythical kingdom.
The Wrap is reporting that Elba is in talks to play Prince Adam's loyal master of weapons, Duncan, aka Man-At-Arms in MGM and Mattel's live-action Masters of the Universe movie.
If he signs on, Elba will join Nicholas Galitzine as Prince Adam/He-Man, Riverdale alum Camila Mendes as his right-hand woman and (possible) love-interest, Teela, and Alison Brie as Skeletor's second-in-command, Evil-Lyn.
As for Skeletor himself, Jared Leto is said to be on the studio's radar to play He-Man's nemesis, but this has yet to be confirmed. Previous rumors have claimed that Sacha Baron Cohen was in contention to play the iconic baddie.
After numerous false starts, Netflix was all set to develop a feature take on the...

Idris Elba has an interesting filmography. He tends to go back and forth between interesting, challenging roles and blockbusters. He’s the type of actor who will star in George Miller’s “Three Thousand Years of Longing” and then voice Knuckles in a ‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ film. It’s almost a “one for them, one for me” mentality. So, it actually makes sense that he’s going to star in “Masters Of The Universe.”

Idris Elba is ready to live the journey, as he has been cast as Man-at-Arms aka Duncan in the upcoming live-action version of Masters of the Universe.
Idris Elba follows in the footsteps of past Duncans Alan Oppenheimer (the mid-’80s animated series He-Man and the Masters of the Universe), Jon Cypher (1987’s live-action flick with Dolph Lundgren), Liam Cunningham (Netflix’s Masters of the Universe: Revelation), and more. He will be joined in the cast by Nicholas Galitzine as He-Man, Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn and Camila Mendes as Teela.
Obviously there are still a handful of key roles that need to be cast (chiefly Skeletor – is Willem Dafoe too obvious?), but this news comes as welcome, as Idris Elba always brings top-tier work to every project he takes on – come on, the guy is crushing Knuckles right now! It’s also a bit of a surprise pick, but one...
