Noah Hawley’s long awaited Alien series will finally begin shooting this year.
“Noah is currently in production on the fifth season of Fargo but he’s in active preproduction on Alien, he’s written scripts,” said FX Boss John Landgraf providing an update at TCA on the long-in-the-works series.
“I think he’s meeting with his production designer in Austin this weekend, gearing up for production this year after he completes the fifth season of Fargo.”
At last year’s virtual TCA winter tour, Landgraf specified that Hawley’s Alien, “takes place before Ripley. It’s the first story that takes place in the Alien franchise on Earth.”
“It takes place on our planet. Right near the end of this century we’re in — so 70-odd years from now,” added Landgraf then.

A lot of water, legal and otherwise, has passed under the bridge since Paul Reubens last donned the signature crisply tailored gray suit and red bow tie of his indisputably great comic creation, Pee-wee Herman, for a feature-length comedy. His previous Pee-wee feature, Big Top Pee-wee, debuted during the summer of 1988, 28 years ago, and that picture was hardly anyone’s idea of a worthy follow-up to the delirious and hilarious Pee-wee’s Big Adventure (1985)-- it certainly wasn’t one I held too dear. When I saw Pwba the night it opened, I was actually admonished by fellow audience members and even the management of a Medford, Oregon movie theater for my hysterics. But though I approached the Big Top three years later with much eagerness, I left it feeling that Pee-wee had somehow ended up getting twisted into a formula that traded that gray suit in for something more akin to a straitjacket.

Pee-wee Herman, the delightfully chirpy man-child that he is, hatches a plan for a grand adventure in the first full-length trailer for Netflix’s feature, Pee-wee’s Big Holiday.
Having portrayed the character for more than 30 years, Paul Reubens is practically synonymous with the childlike Pee-wee, and today’s snippet only showcases more of that signature, innocent charm. The remainder of the cast will be rounded out by Joe Manganiello (Magic Mike Xxl), Alia Shawkat and Brooklyn Nine-Nine‘s Stephanie Beatriz.
As the title suggests, Big Holiday will see Reubens’ character finally journey beyond the idyllic borders of Fairville. Buoyed by his newfound confidence – thanks in no part to Manganiello’s devilishly handsome stranger – he sets out on an impromptu road trip, crossing paths with angry bank robbers along the way.

Hollywood may be in the thick of what many refer to as its annual purple patch, with some of the year’s finest releases coming to the fore just in time for awards season, though we’ll soon be switching gears once again to focus on the film festivals and, by effect, highlighting the more low-key and experimental releases headed our way in 2016.
One of the more prominent dates on the calendar is occupied by South by Southwest, the film festival that takes place in Austin, Texas during mid-March. According to Variety, Pohly will make her feature film debut in Pee-wee.s Big Holiday playing the leader of a gang of bank robbers, which is awesome because that means Reubens. ridiculous little man child is going to come into contact with a gang of bank robbers. We.ve seen him run afoul of bikers before, knocking over their precious motorcycles, so it.ll be interesting to see how he gets out of this sticky situation. Perhaps it will involve more sweet dance moves, or maybe he has some more tricks up his sleeve. Though she.s never appeared in a full-length film, Pohly has shows...
