“The Diplomat” star Rory Kinnear has joined Will Sharpe and Paul Bettany in Joe Barton’s upcoming Sky limited series “Amadeus.”

Based on the story of famed composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Sharpe stars as the virtuoso while Bettany plays his fierce rival, Italian composer Antonio Salieri.

Kinnear, who is also known for his turns in “Skyfall” and “Men” has been cast as Emperor Joseph.

Joining them are Lucy Cohu (“Becoming Jane”) as Cecilia Weber, Jonathan Aris (“The Sixth Commandment”) as Leopold Mozart, Ényì Okoronkwo (“Renegade Nell”) as Da Ponte, Jessica Alexander (“The Little Mermaid”) as Katerina and Hugh Sachs (“Bridgerton”) as Von Strack.

Exclusive: Sky has found its Mozart’s wife for Joe Barton’s upcoming Amadeus series about the world’s most famous composer.

Gabrielle Creevy, who has just wrapped Barton’s Black Doves series for Netflix, will star as Constanze opposite Will Sharpe’s Mozart. Constanze was married to Mozart from 1782 and 1791 and was also a trained Austrian singer. She and Mozart had six children, four of whom died in infancy. Upon Mozart’s death in 1791, she was left saddled with debts.

Creevy is an up-and-coming British actor who played the lead in the BBC and Hulu’s mental health dramedy In My Skin, which beat the likes of Vigil and Unforgotten to the best drama series BAFTA at the 2022 awards. She is starring alongside A-listers Keira Knightley and Ben Whishaw in Black Doves and is leading Starz’ adaptation of Lisa Taddeo’s Three Women opposite Shailene Woodley.

Paul Bettany (A Very British Scandal, WandaVision) will star in Sky original series Amadeus, portraying composer Antonio Salieri opposite Will Sharpe (Giri/Haji, The White Lotus) in the titular role of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

The series is described as a “playfully reimagined limited event series” from writer Joe Barton (Giri/Haji, The Lazarus Project) and director Julian Farino (Giri/Haji). “Deftly reimagined from Peter Shaffer’s award-winning stage play, Barton’s adaptation will expand and interrogate the mythic rivalry of the two composers,” according to a description. “Hero of his own story but villain to history, Salieri’s envy turns vengeful as he uses any means necessary to thwart Mozart and protect his position in the establishment.”

White Lotus actor Will Sharpe is set to play the role of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, the musical genius, in Amadeus, a Sky Original limited series.

The drama will reunite the team behind the crime series Giri/Haji, with Joe Barton writing the screenplay for Amadeus and Julian Farino directing. The series, to shoot later this year, will be produced by Two Cities Television, in association with Sky Studios.

The project is a reimagining of Peter Shaffer’s 1979 stage play, Amadeus, to be adapted by Barton and with Sharpe in the titular role. Amadeus enjoyed award-winning live theater runs in London and New York and inspired Milos Forman’s 1984 film adaptation, which won eight Oscars, including best picture.

The upcoming season of Sex Education will be without Rakhee Thakrar. The actress, who played teacher Emily Sands in the Netflix dramedy, confirmed to Daily Star Sunday that she will not be returning for Season 4.

“I’m not part of the new series. I can’t really talk about why,” she told the publication, adding “But I’m so proud of the show and grateful to have been part of something so important. There is nothing bad about Sex Education.”

Deadline has reached out to Netlix for comment.

Thakrar follows the recent exits of Tanya Reynolds, who portrayed Lily since the series’ launch, Patricia Allison (aka Ola) who played Lily’s romantic interest, and Bridgerton‘s Simone Ashley, who announced her departure earlier this year. Thakrar also is an original cast member on the series.

“It’s just the natural progression of these shows,” Reynolds told UK’s Radio Times in an interview last month.

Sex Education will be without another key cast member ahead of Season 4.

Tanya Reynolds, who has played Lily since the series launch, won’t be returning to the dramedy for the upcoming season.

“I’m not [returning], actually, which is sad, very sad,” Reynolds told the UK’s Radio Times. “It’s just the natural progression of these shows – when you have such big ensemble casts and so many characters, I think you have to let a few older characters go to make way for newer ones, which is absolutely the right thing, the way it should happen.”

Reynolds follows the recent exit of Patricia Allison (aka Ola) who portrayed Lily’s romantic interest, and Bridgerton‘s Simone Ashley, who announced her departure earlier this year.

Twelve years after the launch of Instagram, it’s hardly news that no one’s life is really as blissful as it looks on their carefully curated feeds. Yet as Becky (Erin Doherty) can attest, it can be difficult to remember that when you’re stuck in a run-down two-bedroom flat on the unfashionable side of Bristol with your ailing mother, poring over snapshots from the much prettier, posher life of someone you used to know.

The latest buzzy drama from the BBC is Chloe, from creator Alice Seabright, a deliciously twisty six-parter which sees a young woman in Bristol become obsessed with a woman she follows on Instagram and insinuate herself into that woman’s social circle after she is found dead. Only it’s not as simple as that… Over the course of the series Chloe messes with our perceptions of who is doing what, and why, as our protagonist Becky Green – ostensibly a con woman, turns out to have more complicated motivations at heart.

By the end of the show all is revealed – or rather as much is revealed as can ever be when we are talking about human emotions and drives. You can never truly know who someone really is or what they were thinking, which is a big theme of this drama.

As Mipcom rolled on at Cannes, U.K. public service broadcaster BBC held a preview of its upcoming scripted titles for journalists at an event on Monday presided over by Piers Wenger, director of BBC Drama.

A hot button topic of discussion in recent weeks has been the matter of “distinctively British content.” Hours before he was removed from office, John Whittingdale, then Minister for Media and Data, told the Royal Television Society convention at Cambridge that the government intended to introduce a White Paper that includes a requirement for such content.

“If it’s set in Britain and made in Britain by our public service broadcasters, then it should be distinctively British,” Whittingdale had said.

The streamer confirmed a renewal for Sex Education Season 4 during its first Tudum fan event on Saturday.

Impressively, the renewal comes less than two weeks after Sex Education Season 3 dropped.

The return of one of Netflix’s most popular and critically well-received comedies is just a few weeks away. On Tuesday, Netflix unveiled the trailer for “Sex Education” Season 3, which will premiere Friday, September 17. Created by Laurie Nunn, the hourlong series hasn’t released a new episode since January 2020 (due to pandemic-related production delays); the wait, as they say, makes the anticipation for the new season all the more intense.

Netflix has dropped the full-length trailer for Sex Education Season 3, and the new headmaster (played by Jemima Kirke) appears to be all about embracing change.

She's clearly been given the job of clearing up the school's image after it being declared "Sex School" following a string of very public controversies.

Hope sets out to change quite a bit about the school, including giving the students uniforms, painting over lockers, and among other wild things.

There's even a woman in one of the classes yelling at the students that sex is bad. Make of that what you will.

Sex Education returns to Netflix later this year, and there will be some big changes.

Netflix unveiled a promotional video for Moordale High, which shows the students promoting the school under the order of the new headmistress.

Hope's plan is to get the school back on track, and it's clear that some of the students are struggling with a camera on them.

One of the most surprising moments shows Jackson putting his hand on Hope's shoulder, possibly teasing him having a crush on the new headmistress.

The purpose of the clip is to get people to "Choose Moordale!"

But, will the school be able to bounce back?

Netflix on Thursday announced the new season will bow September 17 and will consist of eight episodes, in line with the previous two seasons.
