Arsalan Baraheni is an exiled Iranian Canadian director, producer, writer, human rights activist and artistic director based in Montreal, Toronto and L.A. His Latest feature documentary, "A poet is Killed" was screened at the International Human Rights Festival in Albania and is one of the most well known Persian documentaries in Iran, dealing with the chain murder of the intellectuals of Iran and the life of a well known poet who was killed. His independent documentary films have premiered in some of the most important cinemas and universities such at the TIFF Bell Lightbox, Cinéma du Parc of Montreal, McGill University, New York Anthology, New Jersey, Milan, Gothenburg, Amsterdam, San Francisco, Nice, Madrid, Rotterdam, Malibu and Tirana. Baraheni is also the recipient of the 2017 award of the National Press & Media Council of Canada for his contributions to the cultural communities of Canada. Exilic Trilogy features three of his documentaries which premiered on BBC. Arsalan is also born into a very well-known artistic family. His father was a famous poet and also the president of Pen Canada.
