Deadline reports that Eddie Murphy is set to star in Blue Falcon, an action comedy scripted by Chad St. John (London Has Fallen). Murphy will be playing a “retired superspy who heads for the destination wedding of his estranged son, and finds himself in proximity with his archrival.” It makes me think of that Andy Warhol quote: “In the future, everyone will play a retired superspy.” I think that’s how it went.

Blue Falcon will be produced by Davis Films’ John Davis, Cliff Roberts through Syndicate Entertainment, and Murphy and Charisse Hewitt-Webster through Eddie Murphy Productions.

Eddie Murphy will play George Clinton in an upcoming biopic, according to multiple reports Friday. The comedian will portray the music legend in the Amazon MGM Studios film directed by Bill Condon.

In that case, it’s because they’ve just announced plans for an untitled George Clinton biopic starring Eddie Murphy as the legendary funk musician and leader of the Parliament Funkadelic. Director Bill Condon has signed on to direct Amazon MGM Studios’ untitled George Clinton biopic, which will star Eddie Murphy as the Parliament-Funkadelic leader.

The script is currently being written by Virgil Williams, who co-wrote this year’s awards contender “The Piano Teacher,” based on an original draft by Max Werner. The project was initiated by Catherine Davis, a Clinton fan, who brought the idea to Murphy.

The movie is based on Clinton’s 2017 memoir “Brothas Be, Yo Like George, Ain’t That Funkin’ Kinda Hard On You?” According to the official release, “The film is the untold story of influential pioneer of funk and his tumultuous journey to founding musical collective Parliament-Funkadelic. Known for their outlandish sci-fi themes, surreal sounds and psychedelic shows, Clinton and his band’s wild road redefined music and culture.”

Ed Helms has signed on to co-star with Jennifer Garner in the Netflix comedy “Family Leave,” with McG joining as director and producer.

Garner, who also serves as a producer, has been attached to the film since Feb. 2021. Adam Sztykiel is handling the rewrite of Victoria Strouse’s script, which is based on “Bedtime for Mommy” by Amy Krouse Rosenthal.

The film follows Jess and Bill Walker, a couple determined to keep their family close as their kids are growing older and less connected to one another. One day, after a chance meeting with an astrological reader, they wake up to find that they’ve switched bodies with a family living on the other side of the world. Unfortunately, the body swap happens to take place on the most important day in their individual lives, with a promotion, college interview, record deal and soccer tryout on the table.

Biodiesel and beekeeping. Those are two things to look forward to in Weird Like Us, the comedy pilot Fox has just ordered.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the single-camera series revolves around a duo of "biodiesel-driving, backyard beekeeping, counterculture rebels who face a family crisis when their own children rebel — by going mainstream."

The comedy comes from The Colbert Show writer Max Werner and actor Ed Helms. Werner is set to write the pilot, with Helms serving as executive producer.

The Writers Guild of America announced the TV nominees for the 2015 WGA Awards on Thursday (December 4) morning and several new shows broke into the fields in a big way. And, of course, there were a number of big WGA Award nomination head-scratchers. Specifically, where the heck was FX's "Fargo"? The answer is below. Making perhaps the biggest splash was "Transparent," which earned three nominations and, since "Orange Is The New Black" earned two nods and "House of Cards" pick up one, that meant that Amazon Prime and Netflix are, at least for one award-giving organization, on equal footing as creators of original programming. In the original category, Her was facing its four rivals for the Oscar: American Hustle, Blue Jasmine, Dallas Buyers Club, and Nebraska, so its victory can be seen as a strong harbinger of where the Academy Award could go on March 2. In anecdotal sampling of Academy members, EW’s Prize Fighter has also determined that Her is far and away the front-runner for this category.

Tonight, the Writers Guild of America presented their awards for excellence in film and television for 2013. All eyes were on their top two categories, Original Screenplay and Adapted Screenplay, and while the former went to Spike Jonze’s incredible Her as expected, the latter went to Billy Ray’s Captain Phillips, which was completely out of the blue.

Her was widely expected to win due to its immense popularity throughout awards season, taking 20 screenplay wins from groups such as the HFPA and Bfca. However, Captain Phillips was a complete surprise given that it had not managed to win a single screenplay award prior to tonight, but as I’ve said before, it was going to be hard to tell which nominee was the favorite given the fact that the disqualified 12 Years a Slave has been the clear frontrunner throughout the season. The best and the brightest in TV came together at the Nokia Theatre this evening (September 22) for the 65th Annual Emmy Awards in Los Angeles.

Neil Patrick Harris held down the fort as the year’s Mc, entertaining the star-studded crowd with show-stopping performances and hilarious skits with “How I Met Your Mother” cast members and former Emmy hosts.

As for the winners, Claire Danes scored a big win, taking home a trophy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series, while Jeff Daniels took home the prize in the Lead Actor category.

Meanwhile, Jim Parsons won his third Emmy for Lead Actor in a comedy for his role in “Big Bang Theory,” and Julia Louis-Dreyfus scored the prize for her lead role in “Veep.”

Halloween comedy Fun Size was not so fun for critics.

The movie stars Victoria Justice (TV’s Victorious) as teen Wren, who has to babysit her younger brother on Halloween. After he disappears into a group of trick-or-treaters, Wren, her best friend and two nerds try to find her brother before her mom finds out he’s missing.

The first film directed by Hart of Dixie producer Josh Schwartz and the first feature film written by Max Werner (TV’s The Colbert Report), Fun Size grossed only $9 million despite being released wide in theaters.

Critics could have been the movie’s downfall. USA Today‘s Claudia Puig said, “There’s little fun to be had in this foolish Halloween comedy that generates many more eye rolls than laughs.”

Who knows, in a few years time Fun Size may prove memorable for having kick-started the big screen careers of its stars Victoria Justice and Jane Levy, but there’s certainly nothing memorable about the film in its own right. Justice (star of TV’s Victorious) plays Wren, a nerdy but beautiful teen who is saddled with looking after her mischievous 8-year-old brother Albert on Halloween, meaning that she and her best friend April (Levy – star of Suburgatory and the forthcoming Evil Dead remake) can’t attend Aaron Riley’s Halloween party. Who’s he you ask? “Aaron Riley – God. Stud. Legend,” we’re reliably informed (without a hint of irony) as Aaron drives his convertible sports car in windswept slow motion. Things go from bad to worse for Wren (and the audience) when Albert goes missing, prompting a frantic search for him that inevitably only causes more trouble.

Meanwhile, newcomer "Fun Size" also failed to bring in the fun at the box-office. The Paramount/Nickelodeon flick starring Victoria Justice debuted at No. 10 with $4 million. This film, directed by Josh Schwartz from a 2010 Black List script by Max Werner, was only budgeted for $14 million, so it would be easier for "Fun Size" to recoup its money comapred to "Cloud Atlas.

There are moments during the amiable teen comedy Fun Size when you may wonder if it’s based on an existing property, like a TV show or a comic book or something. (It was partly produced by Nickelodeon, and this has reportedly caused some concern given that it’s a PG-13 film in which a giant mechanical chicken humps a car full of teens.) Directed by Gossip Girl’s Josh Schwartz and written by The Colbert Report’s Max Werner, the film sometimes seems to assume prior knowledge on our part when introducing characters and situations. It has a certain no-nonsense briskness that suggests it knows it’s a teen movie and doesn’t want to waste time with the usual horseshit of telling us who's who and what their relationships are. Imagine that bit of mental jujitsu for a second: a movie that uses its very conventionality as an asset.

A teen comedy alive with the spirit of John Hughes, Fun Size is one of the funniest and most surprisingly satisfying films I.ve seen this year. Imagine if Hughes had directed Superbad and you might get a decent approximation of the appeal and high-spirit of Fun Size. Advertised as a .tween. comedy and starring actors from Nickelodeon and other TV shows, this PG-13 film is good for all ages and like Hughes. films, it.s a great movie not just for those who are teenagers but also for those who remember what it was like to be one.

Buzz-killer mom portrayed by Chelsea Handler decides to stick her in charge of her”gross” little brother, though. After the Spider-Man costume-clad kid gets lost on her watch, she’ll have to spend the rest of her night tracking the little bugger down. Woe is the homecoming queen!

Victoria Justice is finally getting her first movie! And, if you're young enough to know her from Nickelodeon shows like "Zoey 101," "iCarly" or tele-movies like "The Boy Who Cried Werewolf" this is exciting news! Here's the first trailer to a fun looking new coming of age Halloween comedy called Fun Size. The movie is the first feature film directed by Chuck creator Josh Schwartz, and it stars Victoria Justice (Nickelodeon's Victorious) and Jane Levy (Suburgatory) and Johnny Knoxville even makes a cameo.

The script was written by Colbert Report scribe Max Werner, and the story centers on a sarcastic teenage girl who is forced to take her little brother dressed as Spider-Man trick-or-treating on Halloween. She ends up losing him and ends up going on an adventure to try and find him. Meanwhile he's on his own little adventure.

The movie hits theaters on October 26th, and it looks like it might be kind of fun. I think the little brother is going to end up being the best part of the movie. Here's the trailer...
