MTV International has signed up footballers including Manchester United’s Jesse Lingard and Arsenal’s David Luiz for a lockdown version of its hit “Cribs” brand, titled “MTV Cribs: Footballers Stay Home.”
Produced remotely by Otro Studios, the four-part series will document the footballers’ daily routines including how they are keeping fit, what’s hidden in their fridge and amusing pastimes. Other footballers involved include Brazil and Manchester United midfielder Andreas Pereira, Belgian footballer Axel Witsel, and FIFA 2017 female player of the year, Lieke Martens.
Production is underway with the footballers filming themselves, guided by a remote production team working from home.
The series is set to air June 1 across MTV’s network of international channels and digital platforms, spanning 180 countries.

MTV International is adapting its iconic Cribs brand for the lockdown era, with a special series going inside the homes of famous football players.
MTV International is teaming with Otro Studios to make four-part series MTV Cribs: Footballers Stay Home, in which stars including Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard and Arsenal defender David Luiz open up their homes.
The footballers were sent high-spec iPhones on a handheld camera rig to capture the footage, and were guided by a remote producer who watched the feed via video call technology.
Andreas Pereira, Axel Witsel and FIFA 2017 female player of the year, Lieke Martens, are also among those taking part in the series, which will air on MTV International across 180 countries starting on June 1.

Today on World AIDS Day 2014 we ask you to join us and speak out in solidarity with people living with and affected by HIV.
We have come such a long way—today new HIV infections are declining, better and simpler treatment is now available and people living with HIV are now living longer and healthier lives.
But significant challenges remain and we need to fast-track change.
We must close the gap between people who have access to HIV prevention and treatment and people who do not. We must close the gap between people with opportunities and people who are being left behind.
We want more results
We want to end the AIDS epidemic
We know that together we can do it
We are seeing remarkable progress, but we are not there yet
But gender inequalities, violations of human rights and even our own attitudes can leave people behind. People most...

The dust has now settled after the release of the FIFA 15 demo and gamers have taken to social media, forums and football stadiums to voice their opinions on the latest instalment of the FIFA series.
Reactions have been varied from: “EA Sports have almost achieved perfection” to “Not feeling this FIFA 15 demo; don’t think I’ll be queuing up at the midnight release.”
FIFA 15 has added the ability to measure the emotional state of all 22 players in the starting line-ups – Liverpool’s Mario Balotelli will no doubt always be on edge.
Other improvements include that the pitch will show signs of wear and tear as the game progresses, players’ kits will look ready for a cringeworthy Ariel advert as they jump from slide tackle to slide tackle and defenders will now perform David Luiz’s favourite move of placing their arms behind their back to avoid conceding a handball.

It’s difficult conjuring up sympathy for football players. Over the summer we saw Brazil and Chelsea pair David Luiz and Oscar reduced to floods of tears after their World Cup dreams were so unceremoniously shattered by a ruthless Germany – but don’t feel too sorry for them, because by the time the footballing world had taken in the shock defeat, they were back home being comforted by their stunning significant others.
Footballers have it all. More loaded than Her Majesty’s Revenue & Customs, garages crammed full of impossibly flash motors and the luxury of plying their trade in front of thousands of people at some of the country’s grandest stadiums and countless millions more watching at home around the globe. Oh, and don’t forget their hot wives and girlfriends.

Chelsea have had an extremely busy in the transfer window, making some key signings to rectify the squad’s shortcomings last season while also seeing the departure of two of the club’s all-time legends. Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois returned from his loan at Champions League runners-up Atletico Madrid and was immediately followed by two of their biggest stars, striker Diego Costa and full-back Filipe Luis. A more controversial move saw former Arsenal man Cesc Fabregas join from Barcelona, while Brazilian ‘defender’ David Luiz departed for an exorbitant fee in the direction of Paris St. Germain… fortunately before he endured a World Cup nightmare in his country’s 7-1 home annihilation by Germany.
As ever with Chelsea, there’s been no shortage of loan departures, so the final entry in this list will focus on the two most high-profile moves (Oriol Romeu to Stuttgart...

As is the case with any football game on the market, there will always be players who surpass their real-life performances and capabilities – David Luiz being the glaring inclusion on any FIFA over-rated list since his move from Benfica to Chelsea.
With the new season now upon us, we eagerly await the release of the cult classic that is Football Manager, but a summer involving the World Cup always throws a few spanners in the works. The general rule goes that clubs shouldn’t base their transfer market around tournament form, but the same could be applied to the research contributors behind Sports Interactive’s latest simulator.
Several players have made their moves to top European leagues after faring well recently in Brazil, with others perhaps set to see a unprecedented boost in their attributes after a switch to a more reputable side. While bias doesn’t come into the equation,...

Despite selling occasional defender David Luiz to Paris St Germain for about £30m too much, Chelsea have allowed another centre-back to leave the club – albeit temporarily – as Oriol Romeu has joined Stuttgart on loan for the season, fresh from signing a new contract at the London club.
Fans might be somewhat surprised that a defender given a new contract, and clearly identified as having a future at the club would be moved out on loan, especially with John Terry’s ageing legs and the pressure of four major competitions to compete in with just Gary Cahill and Kurt Zouma as his potential partners – and presumably Branislav Ivanovic as long as Mourinho moves Cesar Azpilicueta back to right-back to accommodate Flilpe Luis. Even with those four options, having Romeu in there for the League Cup and earlier rounds of the Fa Cup might not have been such a bad idea.

Juan José Campanella, the Argentine director behind 2009’s ace crime thriller The Secret In Their Eyes, is back with, well, something a little different. The Unbeatables is a family animation that, as you can probably tell from this new clip, is almost entirely bereft of murders and government repression. What it does have is the Weinstein seal of approval, a colossal haul from the Argentinian box office and a character who looks a lot like World Cup tragi-hero and part-time Hair Bear, David Luiz. Click below to take a look. The Unbeatables tells the tale of a gifted kid called Amadeo (voiced by Rupert Grint), who often keeps his talents hidden (again: see David Luiz) and has suffered previously at the hands of his nemesis, Flash. His goal is to face down the terrifyingly skilled and intimidating player with the help of the football team he’s assembled. The synopsis...

In FIFA 13, the inevitable curling wonder strike from the edge of the box became something of a formality – the sort of goal that should’ve earned bragging rights amongst your friends, but instead invited endless ridicule for choosing an easy cop out option guaranteed success.
To their credit, EA eradicated this monumental annoyance in FIFA 14, but that only forced players down another path, the path of the ‘sweaty’ goal. In terms of big-money signings, the Gunners have not had much to whet their appetite with in recent seasons. With every transfer window that slams shut, praying to God that their newly-acquired 21 year old striker from Guinea hits the ground running, while their posh city rivals welcome the biggest and best from around Europe, an air of jealousy was apparent. Having to fund a new stadium can take its toll on a club’s forthrightness in the transfer market, and that in turn, will have a knockdown effect on the amount of trophies they acquire. With the likes of Cesc Fabregas, Robin van Persie and even Thierry Henry plucked from thin air, with everything to prove to the gruelling English media, Wenger has been labelled ‘reluctant’ to dip his toes in what can be an unforgiving transfer market.
Last summer, there was a new wave of optimism circling the Emirates.

As Arsenal continue to work on the final details of their deal to bring Newcastle United’s Mathieu Debuchy to the Emirates, their London rivals have made a move to replace Roma’s new player Ashley Cole by agreeing to shell out £20m or so for Atletico Madrid left-back Filipe Luis.
Provided the Brazilian can agree personal terms – and the suggestion of any player not agreeing to what Chelsea can offer is ludicrous – the 28-year-old will join up with the squad, and follows in the footsteps of the likes of Emerson Thome, Alex, David Luiz, Oscar and Willian s Samba stars to sign for the club.
That acquisition will seemingly put an end to Cesar Azpilicueta’s role as first choice left-back, and it could allow him to move back to his natural position of right-back.

The World Cup is still going strong, and it’s already brought us plenty of memorable moments, including cannibalism, awesome fake diving, and hilarious troll Ann Coulter. Unfortunately, it’s also included homophobic taunting and a shocking lack of player popouts.
But one of the great moments happened during the quaterfinals on July 4th, when Brazil defeated Colombia 2-1. Colombia’s midfielder James Rodriguez broke down in tears after the match, and in a heartwarming display of sportsmanship, was comforted by Brazil’s defender David Luiz. They even exchanged shirts, which I think means they’re engaged (but I’m not sure about that).
It was a sweet moment, and one that will be remembered when the Shirtless History Of Sports is written.
Actually, James had another memorable moment, when he was attacked by a Giant Mutant Locust/Grasshopper Thing From The Pits Of Hell.

Neymar, Brazil’s standout striker, will not be able to help his team continue on its run for a World Cup victory, as he’s been sidelined with a fractured vertebra.
Neymar Fractures Vertebra
In the World Cup quarterfinal game between Brazil and Columbia, a total of 54 fouls were called. One of those fouls, called late in the second half, was against Colombia defender Juan Camilo Zuniga, who leveled Neymar with a knee to the back. Following the play, Neymar remained on his stomach, clearly in pain and reaching at his lower back. The 22-year-old standout was carried off the field on a stretcher.
Following the game, Brazil coach Luiz Felipe Scolari, admitted that it was dubious that his best scorer would not be able to return to the pitch for their semifinal game against powerhouse Germany.
“He was crying out in pain,” Scolari said of Neymar in his post-match interview.

On the eve of Brazil’s World Cup quarter-final with Colombia, it would be fair to say that Luiz Felipe Scolari has a few tactical headaches. His star player Neymar is struggling with an injury, while the lack of goals from out of form striker Fred is also a worry.
However, perhaps most concerning of all is the absence of Luiz Gustavo. The holding midfielder is suspended for the hosts’ match and this causes several issues for Scolari.
In a team focused on attacking and flair, Gustavo’s role as the team’s ‘water carrier’ cannot be underplayed. Sitting in front of the back four, he is responsible for providing the defence with valuable protection, giving full backs Marcelo and Dani Alves the licence to maraude forward.

The 2014 FIFA World Cup is set to start on June 12 in Brazil, with the USA’s first match on June 16th against Ghana.
To celebrate the World Cup, Nike Football has released part three of its #riskeverything campaign in the form of an awesome film - The Last Game. It’s a five-minute animated feature starring some of the world’s greatest footballers on a mission to save football from the hands of a villainous mastermind, The Scientist.
The Scientist – a suave, smooth operating genius – has been analyzing the game for years. He is dismissive of the audacious risks that the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Neymar Jr. take on the pitch. His research, which includes the claim that Ibrahimovic’s overhead kicks have a 76 percent chance of missing, leads him to create The Clones, automatons programmed to remove all risk-taking and focus only on efficiency, decision-making and results.

Chelsea centre-back David Luiz will be sold to Paris Saint-Germain for £40 million this summer, with the two sides locked in advanced talks, according to the BBC.
The 27-year-old joined the Blues from Benfica for £21.3 million in January 2011 and has gone on to make 143 appearances for the west London club, winning the Champions League in 2012.
The defender has three years left on a five year contract he signed at Stamford Bridge that year, and along with Psg, has also attracted interest from Barcelona.
However, despite being hit by Uefa-enforced sanctions for breaching Financial Fair Play rules this summer, the French champions have fended off interest from Spain to land the Brazilian.
Chelsea themselves only narrowly complied with Ffp regulations and see this as a good piece of business given the profit it would generate.

With a great deal of international stars plying their trade in the Premier League, each week English fans are treated to sneak previews of what could happen at this summer’s World Cup.
Most of the nations who will be represented in Brazil this summer have at least one player in the English top flight who has been in and amongst the goals – favourites Brazil have seven players who have either scored or assisted in a goal (as of 8th April 2014), while joint 6/1 picks Germany and Argentina have another six between them.
To work out the bearing of each of the World Cup’s top teams on the Premier League’s scores and results, we’ve applied a points tally to each player who has contributed goals and assists this season, to come up with the national sides who have had the...

Ezequiel Lavezzi was the difference in the first-leg of the Champions League quarter-final as the Argentine scored one and made one to give his side a slender advantage of Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea.
Lavezzi gave the hosts the lead after just four minutes when he volleyed home after an error from John Terry but Eden Hazard levelled from the penalty spot before half-time. In the second period, an inch-perfect delivery from Lavezzi resulted in David Luiz putting the ball into his own net. Late on, Javier Pastore scored a superb solo effort to extend the Parisian’s advantage.
Chelsea started the game in the worst possible fashion as they fell behind after just four minutes. John Terry, fresh from scoring the decisive own-goal against Crystal Palace at the weekend, saw his weak header picked up by Ezequiel Lavezzi, who volleyed home from 10-yards.

League leaders Chelsea must negotiate a potential banana skin against an Everton side which inflicted José Mourinho’s first league defeat since his return to the Stamford Bridge dugout. Roberto Martinez’s side have proven resilient outsiders in a tight race for the top five positions and Chelsea will be anxious not to drop points with Man City breathing down their necks.

John Terry is likely to return to the heart of Chelsea’s defence, having missed the three previous games with a gluteal strain. Gary Cahill faces a race against time to join him, having played through a thigh injury in last week’s 1-0 Fa Cup loss to Man City. Eden Hazard fired Chelsea to the top of the Premier League table with three goals against an ineffectual Newcastle United.
Chelsea barely had to be at their best to secure victory against a side who showed plenty of willingness but little final product. While small defensive lapses reinforced the importance of John Terry’s organisational skills in absentia, missing his first Premier League match of the season with a muscle inflammation described as ‘half an injury’ by José Mourinho, Newcastle were guilty of wasting the few opportunities they managed to create.
Both sides pushed forward early on, but it was the Blues who created the only chances of note. Eden Hazard gave a hint of things to come with a low strike after being played in by a lively Cesar Azpilicueta, and a Frank Lampard free-kick zipped wide of Tim Krul’s right-hand post. The only goal came on just before the half hour, Oscar bending a free kick from 22 yards out into the far left corner after a foul on Samuel Eto’o by Erik Pieters, as Chelsea beat Stoke by a single goal at Stamford Bridge.
The first half started at a fast tempo, and both sides had a good chance to open the score. Inside the first six minutes Samuel Eto’o received the ball with his back to goal inside of the box, turned and fired inches wide of the far post, then peter Crouch headed wide from four yards after Simon Walters cross was deflected.
The game began to settle as both sides struggled for momentum, but that changed when Oscar showed his dead ball prowess. In the final five minutes of the half the game really opened, Frank Lampard coming so close to tapping...

Stoke City won their last meeting with Chelsea in December, but it was their first victory in 13 attempts. In among those encounters were ten Blues wins, including a 7-0 and 4-0.
Mark Hughes thus achieved something predecessor Tony Pulis never did by beating his former club. Now the Potters travel to Stamford Bridge in the last tie of Fa Cup fourth round weekend. Stoke reached the final in 2011, but were runners-up to Manchester City.
No team in England has dominated this competition like Chelsea in recent years. They have featured in four of the last seven Fa Cup finals, winning all of them. The first of those came in 2007 during Jose Mourinho’s first spell as Blues boss.
The Potters have lost four of their last six matches, but their single recent win came in the cup when they knocked Championship leaders Leicester City out in the last round.

Many are mocking Chelsea for spending £21 million on a player whom they sold as a makeweight in the David Luiz deal only three years ago, yet Nemanja Matić could prove essential to maintaining the club’s push for Premier League success this season. Despite a surfeit of talent in the attacking midfield positions, Chelsea have struggled to find balance among its options for the two deeper roles.
Ramires and Lampard lack defensive stability. Mikel and Lampard lack pace and dynamism. Ramires and Mikel lack creativity. David Luiz’s undeniable talent is counterbalanced by unpredictability and recklessness, attributes anathemic to José Mourinho’s preference for precise, controlled play.
The step up from the Portuguese Primeira Liga to the English Premier League is a big one, but if Matić can adapt quickly, he could emerge as the midfield general Chelsea have long needed. His defensive skills have been well noted,...

Amongst all the end of year awards announced in the last week, FIFPro have selected their team of the year for 2013 and it is: Manuel Neuer; Dani Alves, Thiago Silva, Sergio Ramos, Philipp Lahm; Andres Iniesta, Xavi, Franck Ribery; Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Naturally the reaction in the British press has been to question the lack of Premier League players in the team, but that is just a reflection of the poor performance of English teams in the Champions League compared to previous years.
What is more noteworthy, though, is that the selection reflects an accepted wisdom of previous years with regard to the dominance of La Liga and Spain’s Golden Generation. In a year in which Barcelona were thoroughly outplayed by Bayern Munich across two legs in the Champions League and Spain well beaten in the Confederations Cup Final, should...

After a relatively underwhelming start to the January transfer window, we finally got a burst of action when Chelsea last week re-signed former player Nemanja Matic from Benfica for £21 million.
Matic’s return to Stamford Bridge completes a total U-turn after the west London side let him leave for less than £5 million as part of the David Luiz transfer three winters ago.
Manager Jose Mourinho quickly identified the Serbian international as a key target this month as part of his plans to re-build the club, with Chelsea apparently having no qualms with buying back someone they let go.
However, the transfer of Matic back to the capital does have a degree of embarrassment to it considering the Blues took a massive £16 million hit in the pockets.
Had they shown faith in the midfielder to begin with, they would not have had to have shelled...

Manchester United travel to Chelsea on Sunday hoping for better than the bore draw the sides produced in August. David Moyes also knows that Jose Mourinho has never lost a home Premier League game in English football. No pressure then.
The Red Devils ship was steadied in their last outing as Moyes ended a run of three successive defeats by being injury-hit Swansea. Mourinho’s Blues meanwhile recorded five straight wins since another tepid goalless draw with Arsenal before Christmas.

Nemanja Matic is set to undergo a medical at Chelsea ahead of his proposed £21 million return to the club, according to the BBC.
The Benfica midfielder arrived in London from Lisbon on Tuesday night and is expected to sign on at Stamford Bridge after successful completion of the medical.

Chelsea are set to re-sign deep-lying Serbia midfielder Nemanja Matic from Benfica two-and-a-half-years after selling him to the Portuguese giants.
Matic, 25, failed to win a first-team place at Stamford Bridge during his first spell with the Blues between 2009 and 2011. He has blossomed into a huge talent since, however, winning Portugal’s top flight Player of the Year award last term.
Sky Sports reports that Chelsea will pay Benfica £25 million for Matic and send winger Gael Kakuta on loan to the Estadio da Luz. He was used a makeweight in the deal that brought David Luiz to West London.
Jose Mourinho has been short of options in the Blues engine room because of injuries to club stalwart Frank Lampard and summer signing Marco van Ginkel. The Special One has recently used Brazil defender Luiz in the holding role alongside compatriot Ramires or Nigeria’s John Obi Mikel.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is considering a £21 million offer to bring Serbian holding midfielder Nemanja Matic back to Stamford Bridge from Benfica.
Sunday’s Telegraph reports that Mourinho has turned to Matic as Chelsea are unlikely to sign Colombian Fredy Guarin from Inter Milan.
Matic, 25, has flourished in Portugal after failing to break into the Blues’ first team during a two-year stint between 2009 and 2011. He was a makeweight in the £25 million deal the Blues did for Brazilian defender David Luiz.
Chelsea are short of deeper-lying central midfield options because of injuries to Frank Lampard and Marco van Ginkel. Luiz has been used in this position alongside compatriot Ramires and Nigerian John Obi Mikel by Mourinho in recent games.
Matic lined up against his former club in last season’s Europa League final – a match the Blues won under Rafa Benitez thanks to a stoppage time winner from Branislav Ivanovic.

Eden Hazard’s solo effort and a Fernando Torres goal sent Chelsea top of the Premier League in another ground out win over Hull City. Jose Mourinho’s men completed a double over the Tigers with victory at the Kc Stadium.
Hosts Hull made a strong, composed start as they had against other heavyweight opposition. This approach was typified by wingback Ahmed Elmohamady, who ran at Ashley Cole at every opportunity. Petr Cech held the Egyptian’s swerving strike on seven minutes.
Blues striker Torres then saw a deflected effort off Alex Bruce fly into the side-netting as Chelsea quickly countered. Such instances were rare early on as the Tigers made more of the running.
Jake Livermore forced Cech to palm behind after good holdup play from Yannick Sagbo midway through the first half. The Ivorian striker then shanked wide himself when Elmohamady charged down John Terry’s lazy clearance.

Derby County meet Chelsea in the Fa Cup third round on Sunday searching for their first win over the Blues since 1999.
Rory Delap, the long-throw specialist most famously remembered for his spell at Stoke, bagged a brace in October of that year in a 3-1 victory for the Rams. That is the only occasion in the last dozen encounters that Chelsea have lost.
County have been rejuvenated by the appointment of Steve McClaren and his ability to attract quality players after years of mid-table mediocrity under predecessor Nigel Clough. Derby have signed Spurs winger Simon Dawkins on a permanent transfer this week and secured Chelsea youngster Patrick Bamford on loan.
McClaren saw a sensational run of eight wins in nine games end on New Year’s Day when Wigan Athletic snatched victory at Pride Park. The...

Despite all the talent Juan Mata undoubtedly posses which saw him win back-to-back Player of the Year awards at Chelsea, you could sense that as soon as Jose Mourinho returned to his spiritual home at Stamford Bridge, that Mata would not be of such of importance for Chelsea compared to the past two years.
And after being substituted after just 53 minutes at St. Mary’s on Sunday, (where Chelsea went onto to win 3-0, with Mata’s replacement Oscar playing a part in all 3 goals) the Spaniard did not hold back on showing his frustration, raising more questions over the future of the playmaker.
Since then Jose Mourinho went on to say that he would prefer if Mata was to remain at the club, however he will not hold back the Spaniard if he requests a transfer.

Jose Mourinho’s inspired substitution saw Chelsea sink Southampton at St Marys and keep hot on the heels of Premier League leaders Arsenal. Oscar made goals for Fernando Torres and Willian before scoring himself in the second half.
Saints coach Mauricio Pochettino made two alterations after losing at Everton last time out. Youngster James Ward-Prowse and target man Rickie Lambert made way for Gaston Ramirez and Morgan Schneiderlin, who returned from suspension.
Blues boss Jose Mourinho meanwhile had a combination of injuries and bans to contend with. He made six changes in total from the home win over Liverpool. Branislav Ivanovic and Frank Lampard were casualties of that match whilst David Luiz picked up a fifth yellow card and had to sit this one out.
Samuel Eto’o, Oscar and Willian got rests with starts for Ashley Cole, Juan Mata, John Obi Mikel, Ramires, Andre Schurrle and Torres at St Marys.

Chelsea travel to European hopefuls Southampton on New Year’s Day knowing their hosts have only one Premier League win in their last five against the Blues on the South Coast.
That solitary victory for the Saints since 2000 came in March in an all-English scoring affair. Jay Rodriguez and Rickie Lambert were on target at St Marys with Chelsea only briefly level through John Terry under interim boss Rafa Benitez.
Mauricio Pochettino’s team have only picked up one point from the last nine available on home turf and five throughout December. The reverse fixture exactly one month before this second meeting of the season saw Southampton lead early – again through Rodriguez – but then succumb to second half Blues goals from Gary Cahill, Terry and Demba Ba.
Such a lean festive season has seen the Saints slip to ninth place in the table and as many points off the European places.

Liverpool topped the Premier League table on Christmas Day, but a second successive away defeat – this time at Chelsea – saw them slip to fifth. The Blues came back at Stamford Bridge after falling behind to Martin Skrtel’s opener.
Eden Hazard and Samuel Eto’o turned things around for Jose Mourinho as the Special One triumphed over his apprentice and Reds boss Brendan Rodgers. A win for Chelsea took them two points behind leaders Arsenal as they remained third behind Manchester City.
Mourinho rotated his squad after beating Swansea City on Boxing Day. Ashley Cole, Juan Mata and John Obi Mikel dropped to the bench whilst Blues midfielder Ramires served a suspension. Fellow Brazilian David Luiz moved into the holding role with compatriot Willian, Frank Lampard, Gary Cahill and Cesar Azpilicueta coming into the XI.
Rodgers made just one alteration to the Liverpool team that lost at City last time out.

Liverpool and Luis Suarez, the Premier League’s top scorer, face Chelsea for the first time since the star striker picked up a ten-match ban for biting Blues defender Branislav Ivanovic in April.
Far from being billed as Jaws 2, this encounter will be a serious test of both sides’ title credentials as they sit next to one another in the top four. Chelsea have won only one of their last five meetings with the Reds at Stamford Bridge to boot.
This pits Blues boss Jose Mourinho against protégé Brendan Rodgers for the first time in Premier League history, and the Special One stirred the pot when he suggested Liverpool could become champions.
Chelsea have not been finishing teams off in recent weeks. Their last five wins in all competitions have all come by the odd goal. Compelling evidence of Blues profligacy is indifferent form – a Capital...

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is plotting a swoop on former club Inter Milan after entering the race to sign centre-back Andrea Ranocchia, according to the Daily Star.
The move comes as the Blues prepare themselves for the loss of David Luiz in the New Year, with the Brazilian tipped to join Barcelona.
And Ranocchia, who has also been linked with Manchester United, Tottenham and Arsenal, is on Mourinho’s shortlist of replacements when the transfer window reopens next month.
The Italian is finding first team opportunities dip under manager Walter Mazzarri at the San Siro, with Inter now preparing to cut their losses on the 25-year-old, who is set to star for his country at next summer’s World Cup with Italy being paired in the same group as England.
That means any interested party would want to tie up a deal now or risk seeing his...

Despite Chelsea closing the gap at the top of the table to two points with victory over relegation strugglers Palace, manager José Mourinho still finds himself with no answers to the chronic inconsistency which has plagued his side’s league campaign so far. An unconvincing victory was secured in the first half after Ramires thumped home from outside the area, but a tense second half in which Petr Cech was repeatedly called into action will only deepen doubts over the Blues’ ability to maintain their title challenge in the new year.
Fernando Torres may have tapped home the opening goal after Willian’s zipping strike was palmed away by the excellent Julian Speroni, but with his other major contribution limited to a well-timed duck out of the way of Ramires’ match-winning strike, Mourinho would be unwise to consider this any sort of turning point in solving his strikeforce’s crisis of confidence.

Team News

La Liga champions Barcelona will test Chelsea’s resolve to keep Brazilian defender David Luiz by offering a reported £29 million for him in the January transfer window.
The Daily Star says reports in Spain indicate that Barca boss Gerardo “Tata” Martino remains keen on 26-year-old Luiz as he seeks a replacement for ageing skipper Carles Puyol at the Nou Camp.
Luiz lost his place in the Blues XI under Jose Mourinho before picking up a knee injury, but is now back in full training. He has made just ten appearances for the Special One this season.
With the World Cup coming up in his native Brazil this summer, Luiz will not want to be sat on the Chelsea bench behind Mourinho’s preferred centre back pairing Gary Cahill and John Terry.
Barcelona are understood to have been tracking Luiz for some time and hope that their offer...
