Tomorrow will see the premiere of the Ganbatte Ikimasshoi anime film, an adaptation of the novel of the same name by Yoshiko Shikimura which follows high school rowing. To celebrate the release, a new visual debuted with main character Etsuko splashing around with Honoka from Love Live! School Idol Project . Ganbatte Ikimasshoi x Love Live! Collaboration Visual While you may think this an odd collaboration, especially between an older anime series that has newer editions in the franchise (including the first part of the Nijigasaki High School Idol Club The Movie: Final Chapter trilogy in theaters in Japan), the character designer on Ganbatte Ikimasshoi is the same as the original Love Live! music videos and anime series, Asako Nishida, hence why Honoka appears with Etsuko. In a recent interview with Febri, director Keiichi Sato shed some insights into the creative process behind the currently airing Go! Go! Loser Ranger! anime adaptation.
During the interview Keiichi revealed that he drew inspiration from the American satirical superhero series ‘The Boys‘ when it came to adapting Negi Haruba’s Go! Go! Loser Ranger! manga into an anime, as he desired to capture the dark and complex world of anti-heroes.

He highlighted the prevalence of anti-hero themes in both domestic and international media landscapes, citing The Boys as a prominent example. He noted that Go! Go! Loser Ranger! with its premise of a protagonist from the villain side challenging a justice hero with hidden darkness, resonates with the themes explored in The Boys.
This combined with the manga’s surprising plot twists, convinced Sato to infuse the tone of the series for the anime.
