The White Lotus is back with its third season and a whole new cast, much to the joy of fans. The award-winning dark comedy-drama has been a fan favorite since its first season and has been critically praised for its themes and storylines. The series also includes a lot of intimacy between all of the characters as the story explores people’s wants, needs, and desires.
The show’s third season was filmed in Thailand, and it was extremely hot for the cast members to function—so much so that the intimate scenes became difficult due to the sweat and heat. Jason Issacs, who is known for playing Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter film franchise, is part of the third season, and here’s what the actor revealed about the smelly scenes.

The fantasy genre has had a pretty significant come up on both the big and small screen in the last 25 years.
While there is a definite charm and nostalgia to the dark fantasy movies that influenced the ’80s, there is no denying that a lot of what makes fantasy movies has only been enhanced via modern movie magic. Swashbuckling adventure, monsters galore in slightly unfamiliar environments, romance, found family, fantasy has it all and it’s just been getting better and better for fans.
These are the best modern fantasy movies – made after 2000 – from obvious choices like “Lord of the Rings” to under-appreciated gems like “Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves.”

It's rare for the third installment of a movie franchise to be considered especially good, but a rare few are able to break the boundaries of expectation, becoming the best entry in their respective series. Threequels usually have a hard time living up to expectations, often billed as the epic conclusion to a trilogy that isn't able to ultimately fulfill its promises. Infamous movies like the terrible The Godfather Part III give third installments a nasty reputation, but some of them manage to stand out as the best in the business.
Threequels that work as the best installment of their given trilogies or movie series are able to finely hone the formula of their franchise over the course of the previous two films, resulting in an expertly crafted experience. Some serve as gripping finales as well, rounding out a set of three with grace and tact. Even if they may not have the best reputation,...

Throughout the "Harry Potter" books and movies — the original ones, not the "Fantastic Beasts" franchise — there are plenty of mysteries scattered around for both the audience and Harry (Daniel Radcliffe) himself to solve. In fact, if you take each installment one by one, they're basically all mystery books. Who's after the titular Stone in "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone?" Who is the real Heir of Slytherin in "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets?" Why is alleged murderer Sirius Black (Gary Oldman) hellbent on finding Harry at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban?" Who put Harry's name in the Goblet of Fire in, well, "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire?" I don't need to go on — you get it. You're smart.

With the spotlight shed on Sirius Black’s life on the run following his escape from Azkaban, and his refuge at 12 Grimmauld Place, fans addressed the emotional toll of living at his family home, devoid of people. Therefore, raising questions about why J.K. Rowling ignored his sufferings when they could just let him out using Polyjuice Potion, fans sparked a debate.

Harry, Hermione and Ron might've got a cauldron full of house points for Gryffindor over the years, but they only managed to get one film onto IMDb's Top 250 list, and it might not be the one you're thinking of. In the pantheon of "Harry Potter" films that saw Daniel Radcliffe's orphan and number one horcrux in the side of He Who Must Not Be Named aka Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes), there are plenty to great watches to choose from. Some that might not have aged as well as others and some that might sit lower down the list, but they have a handful of memorable moments regardless. However, according to IMDb's users, it's the latter half of the final chapter in the "Harry Potter" franchise, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2," that deserves a slot among the select few.

VFX artists share their mixed opinions about a Sirius Black (Gary Oldman) scene in the Harry Potter movies. The scene is adapted from the fourth Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, when Sirius speaks to Harry (Daniel Radcliffe) at Hogwarts through the Floo Network. Instead of physically traveling to Hogwarts through the fireplace, Sirius is able to make his head appear in the fire while he is elsewhere, allowing him to communicate with Harry without physically going to Hogwarts.
In a Corridor Crew video, VFX artists break down the visual effects used in the scene and discuss how it has been changed from the book. In the source material, it is described as "Sirius's head was sitting in the fire," with his head floating in the flames. In the movie, his face pushes up and is formed out of the fire's coals since there are no flames.

In the "Harry Potter" books — and the film franchise they spawned — Harry, played on-screen by Daniel Radcliffe, faces off against a number of different villains and antagonists. None of them loom quite as large as Voldemort, though. Originally named Tom Marvolo Riddle and played, after he regains corporeal form in "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire," by Ralph Fiennes, the Dark Lord was one of the most feared and evil wizards in the entire wizarding world ... Until he got his butt kicked by a baby. Let me explain.
Before the proper narrative of "Harry Potter" even gets going, Voldemort takes it upon himself to "visit" the Potter family home in the sleepy wizarding hamlet of Godric's Hollow so that he can murder the trio, including baby Harry and his parents James (Adrian Rawlins) and Lily (Geraldine Somerville). So, why does Voldemort attempt infanticide and murder two people in the process?...

Some exciting news has already been shared on the Harry Potter TV show, but one character's casting could truly be make or break for the show, and not for the reasons that everyone might expect. With an open casting call for the Golden Trio, the upcoming HBO Harry Potter show is sure to carve out its own path for its child actors, which is a wise choice. Meanwhile, the series has expressed its desire for British thespian Mark Rylance to play Albus Dumbledore. While all developments are promising thus far, HBO must ensure strong casting of one key character.
Although the Golden Trio - Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger - will be instrumental in the series' success, some of the overarching story relies very much on certain adult characters. While Voldemort, Professor McGonagall, Severus Snape, and Sirius Black all constitute major figures in the narrative, they span most of the books and movies.

Despite its controversial release, Hogwarts Legacy did a fantastic job at replicating the authentic feeling of the Harry Potter franchise in video game form. While many games have tried to replicate the magic of the films before, none have come close to the commercial and critical success of Avalanche Software's Hogwarts Legacy. While Hogwarts Legacy was a self-contained experience that had almost nothing to do with Harry's story, its sequel has the perfect chance to bridge the gap between the films and the game in a creative way.
While not much is known just yet about the mysterious Hogwarts Legacy 2, other than that it will tie into the HBO Harry Potter series in some way. While this is a somewhat vague statement, since Hogwarts Legacy tells an entirely unique story apart from the film franchise, it would be the perfect opportunity to explore the backstory of named characters. Cillian Murphy As Lord Voldemort (Photo Credit – Instagram)
The Harry Potter franchise is one of the most iconic fiction pieces ever. A huge reason behind it is its iconic villain, Lord Voldemort. He was a terrifying villain that the mightiest of wizards feared taking his name, even in his absence. In the film adaptation of Harry Potter, Ralph Fiennes played the role, beautifully terrorizing a whole generation of viewers. His portrayal of The Dark Lord was well-received by fans and critics alike.
Now, Warner Bros. is all set to brew the magic of Harry Potter once again, this time in an HBO special show. Now, fans are doing their part of casting their favorite actors in a role. One such fan cast includes the idea of Oppenheimer star Cillian Murphy stepping into the shoes of Lord Voldemort. This news has now reached the ears of the former Dark Lord himself.

The story in Harry Potter and Order of the Phoenix was perfectly set up by Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, with several elements of one book paralleled by the other. Though a close look at each installment in the Harry Potter franchise reveals unique adventures for Harry and his friends, taking a zoomed-out observation of the series as a whole creates a different picture. Several of the books have a parallel counterpart, with common themes and character focuses from one to another. This allows for an exciting balance within the overarching series.

Warner Bros. Discovery is hard at work prepping a new show about Harry Potter, a young boy who's whisked off to wizard school for seven straight books of drama and adventure. The new series would adapt the whole of J.K. Rowling's novels over the course of several seasons. Even now, Wbd is looking for kids aged 9-11 to play the three main characters: Harry, Ron and Hermione. For those of us who were around for the Harry Potter movies released between 2001 and 2011, it's a bit surreal. We're going again.

When books are being adapted into a live-action medium, it is only natural that some changes will be made to better tell a story. When the Harry Potter films first began to take shape, it was only natural that a similar approach was taken with them. Although J.K. Rowling made most of the decisions that were taken in the films, some choices ended up being quite controversial among the fandom.

Be it Dumbledore’s reaction to Harry putting his name in the Goblet of Fire or Ginny Weasley’s character, certain changes have been poorly received by its viewers over the years. One of the lesser talked about decisions still ended up impacting characters in a very significant way. Thankfully, HBO’s upcoming reboot could easily fix this.

Could Hermione Granger’s Essential Role in the Harry Potter Series: More Crucial Than We Realize? ( Photo Credit – Facebook )
Hermione Granger wasn’t just a supporting character; she was the spine of the whole Harry Potter saga. Harry might’ve had his name plastered on the covers, but without Hermione’s know-it-all brain and Muggle-born brilliance, Hogwarts would’ve been toast by book two. Apparate! A return to the Wizarding World (and to our childhood) is set for 2026. Warner Bros. Discovery and HBO are currently putting their wits behind bringing Harry Potter to television—and they strongly iterate the fact that it will explore J.K Rowling’s seven-book saga in way more detail. Well, it’s about time something happened with this IP.

Hogwarts Legacy used the choice of houses and the design of each common room as one of the selling points for the game. This was a change from most previous Harry Potter games, where the game followed the content of the books, taking away the choice from the player as being in Gryffindor was required for the plot. Consequently, allowing for the player to pick which house they join means that no house is outright labeled as being the canon option.
Since Hogwarts Legacy takes place in the past, it has fewer constraints compared to the games that follow that character of Harry Potter. Additionally, the player starts their education as a fifth year student, which is partially out of necessity to allow for the player to have a character with a clean slate. Of course, that comes with the downside of questioning which options are canon, as the game...

The Harry Potter movies were based on J.K. Rowling's excellent book series but some of their funniest moments were totally original. The Potterverse movies kept the spirit of Rowling's story in the best possible way, with the first and second installments arguably being the most faithful fantasy adaptations out there, bar minimal departures from the source material. For instance, Sirius Black deserved more screen time, especially given Gary Oldman's performance. However, it was the directors Chris Columbus, Alfonso Cuarn, Mike Newell, and David Yates who really brought the Wizarding World to life.
All eight Harry Potter movies diverged from the books to a certain extent, including leaving out a lot of Percy Weasley's story and giving a lot of Ron's lines to Hermione. The directors and producers of the movies made changes based on creating better drama and pacing; this sometimes resulted in hilarity. That said, a lot...

Here’s why Jk Rowling did not kill off Arthur Weasley’s character in the Harry Potter books! (Photo Credit – Koimoi)
If you thought the Harry Potter series left you all emotional, wait until you hear about the characters that almost didn’t make it. J.K. Rowling once spilled the tea to being a “ruthless killer” regarding her characters. While fans mourned the losses of Sirius Black and Fred Weasley, Arthur Weasley’s fate too hung in the balance.
In Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Arthur faced a terrible attack from Nagini (Voldemort’s serpent sidekick), while he was on guard at the Department of Mysteries. For a moment, it felt like we were going to lose him. Thank the magical stars he pulled through, but it could’ve gone so differently.
Rowling admitted that she felt pressure to kill off parental figures to amplify the fear surrounding Voldemort.

J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter franchise happens to be one of the most popular fantasy stories of the modern era, that has transcended generations and boundaries to become a highly successful film series, currently awaiting an upcoming TV remake. Meanwhile, although Potterheads are aware of how the films skipped several characters and plots, only a few will be familiar with things that were left out of the novels.
J.K. Rowling in a interview with Scholastic
In the enchanting realm of Harry Potter, where magic weaves through every page of J.K. Rowling’s novels, fans often forget that not all characters make the final cut. Well, one among those figures lost on the author’s editing table is the intriguing character Mopsus, a blind wizard with a remarkable gift of sight. According to Rowling, while Mopsus was left out of the final draft, the character was refashioned into Mad-Eye Moody.

Harry Potter is famous for its magical universe and amazing characters, but there are also plenty of romances that propel the plot forward in the books and movies. While Harry and his friends are experiencing the pangs of adolescence and first love at Hogwarts, there are some well-fleshed-out and heartfelt relationships between the adults in the series. Some are great examples of love and partnership, like Arthur and Molly Weasley. However, others are not as well maintained, like Remus Lupin and Nymphadora Tonks. Though they're two strong characters, their relationship was never fully explained in the books or movies.
While the books are slightly more in-depth than the movies in terms of developing the relationship between Tonks and Lupin, the show can do more. As new details emerge about the HBO Harry Potter TV show, it's easy to get excited about the upcoming addition to the beloved franchise. One of...

When Max announced it was making a Harry Potter TV show last year, the news was met with a mixed reception. We already have eight fantastic movies, right? But on the other hand, a long-running serialized version can adapt J.K. Rowling's books in much more depth than the movies ever could. It's a complicated case, for sure.
No matter your thoughts on the remake, the reality remains: Max's Harry Potter TV show is officially on the way. In fact, the streamer has given the show a 10-year commitment to adapt the books through to their conclusion. The series is currently in development, and the casting team recently issued an open casting call for its three key characters: Harry, Ron and Hermione.

“Leave them alone.” That’s what Jared Harris, the “Mad Men,” “The Crown,” and Chernobyl star thinks about the original Harry Potter films.
The twice Emmy-nominated actor is, of course, the son of the late actor and singer Richard Harris (and brother to director Damian Harris and actor Jamie Harris). Richard played Hogwarts headmaster Albus Dumbledore in the first two Harry Potter films before he died. For the later films, Richard was replaced by Michael Gambon.
With HBO planning a reboot of the J.K. Rowling series for television, teasing a more detailed adaptation of the beloved books, The Independent asked Jared Harris if he had any interest in taking on the role initially played by his father.
Not only did he bat that away with a “no, thank you,” he said something that Warner Bros. Discovery shareholders maybe do not want to hear: “Also, I mean, why do it? I don’t understand.

Jared Harris, son of Richard Harris, who originated the role of Dumbledore in the Warner Bros. Harry Potter franchise, doesn’t see the need for HBO’s television reboot.
In a recent interview with The Independent, Jared Harris — who followed in his late father’s footsteps with credits in Mad Men and Chernobyl (from HBO), garnering Emmy nominations for each project — emphatically dismissed the idea of portraying the beloved mentor character.

Richard Harris played Albus Dumbledore in the first two Harry Potter movies until his death forced the studio to recast the role with Michael Gambon. With the upcoming Harry Potter TV series starting the casting process, some fans have thought that Harris’ son, Jared Harris, would make for a good Dumbledore.
During an interview on the The Independent series Go to Bat, Jared Harris was asked if he’d be down to play Dumbledore in the Harry Potter TV series. His response should shut down any more fan casting. “No, thank you,” he said. “Also, I mean, why do it? I don’t understand. Gary Oldman recently revealed who he thinks should play Dumbledore in the Harry Potter TV show, and his casting idea may just be perfect. More than a decade after the Harry Potter film franchise ended, HBO announced that they would be making a Harry Potter television series. Allegedly, the TV show is being made to be more accurate to the books than the movies were. However, just like the original franchise, the new Harry Potter show will follow a cast of young actors who audiences will get to see grow up on screen as Harry, Ron, and Hermione.
One of the big questions surrounding the Harry Potter TV show is who will be in it. Notably, the Harry Potter movies had large casts of incredible British actors, from Maggie Smith and Alan Rickman to Imelda Staunton and Michael Gambon. In this way, it will be difficult for HBO's Harry Potter...

The Harry Potter film series is widely regarded as one of the more successful book-to-movie adaptations, yet how successful was the series in accurately portraying character ages? The Harry Potter film series began in 2001 with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone and spawned seven sequels. Ending with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 in 2011, the film series was a critical and commercial success and is still held as the high standard regarding young adult books being adapted into film.

It's hard to believe it's been 20 years — two whole decades! — since Gary Oldman first swept into the Wizarding World and stole our hearts as Sirius Black in Alfonso Cuarón's Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban. Almost just as hard to believe is that right now Succession duo Mark Mylod and Francesca Gardiner are hard at work readying their upcoming small-screen Hp reboot for HBO, with an open casting call for our next Golden Trio having already gone live just last week. But whilst Mylod and Gardiner might be scouting for unknowns to play Harry, Ron, and Hermione in their new show, Oldman has already thrown his hat in the ring for a part in the series — and it's not the one you'd expect, either.

The upcoming American television adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series has reignited discussion of how beloved characters from the original books were portrayed in the blockbuster films. Gary Oldman, who famously played the complex character Sirius Black in the movies, recently reflected on his limited screen time in an interview. Oldman said Black “wasn’t in [the films] enough” and only “pretty much turned up and then…went through the veil.”
Oldman’s comments have resonated with both fans and critics alike. They have prompted examining how challenging it is to fully adapt sprawling novels into movies with strict run times. Sirius Black serves as an example of this challenge. Introduced in the third Harry Potter film, Black quickly became a fan favorite character. However, his appearances diminished in later installments, like in the fourth movie where he only had a brief conversation in the fireplace.

With the Harry Potter franchise expanding with a TV series, actors from the movies have shared their feelings about the saga, and I completely agree with Gary Oldmans complaint about Sirius Black but that also made the character better. The Harry Potter book series was a global phenomenon back in the late 1990s and 2000s, and it didnt take long for it to make the jump to the big screen. Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone was released in 2001 to great success, allowing fans of the books to see the characters, objects, and events they were familiar with come to life.
The Harry Potter saga ended in 2011 with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2, but the Wizarding World continued to expand. After the failure of the Fantastic Beasts film trilogy, the Wizarding World is now going back to the story that started it all with a TV series.

Gary Oldman recently told IndieWire that he believes Sirius Black wasn’t in the “Harry Potter” film franchise enough. Gary Oldman played Harry's godfather Sirius Black in the Harry Potter movies. However, the actor doesn't seem done with the Wizarding World just yet. With HBO making a Harry Potter TV adaptation with a 10-year commitment to completing the series, Oldman has expressed interest in getting involved.
The announcement of a Harry Potter TV show earlier this year received a mixed reception. There's already eight fantastic movies, right? On the other hand, a TV show allows for a much more thorough adaptation of the books. The writers are not held back by the limited duration of a movie. Several former cast members have voiced their support of the upcoming series, from Daniel Radcliffe (Harry) to Bonnie Wright (Ginny Weasley).
Now, Gary Oldman has revealed that he's totally down to jump back into the Wizarding World. While it's hard to imagine anyone else playing Sirius, Oldman isn't expecting a call to reprise his old role.

Gary Oldman pitches his return as a new character in the upcoming Harry Potter HBO TV series. Adapting the books by J.K. Rowling, the first Harry Potter movie was released in 2001, with Oldman eventually making his franchise debut as Sirius Black in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004). Oldman's Black would meet an untimely end in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007), a plot point that is sure to be recreated in Harry Potter HBO TV series, which is set to release on the streamer next year.
While attending the 76th Primetime Emmys, IndieWire asked Oldman about his potential return as Black in the Harry Potter TV show. While the actor doesn't anticipate he will be reprising his role, he does reveal that he has an enduring affection for Black, and that he believes the character may have been underutilized:

Gary Oldman on the Possibility of Appearing in HBO’s ‘Harry Potter’ TV Show: ‘I Could Do Dumbledore’
With news recently breaking about the new HBO “Harry Potter” TV series adaptation seeking out its main child cast, everyone is wondering who will be brought aboard to play the show’s adult characters. For the films, Warner Bros. previously sought out a murderer’s row of elite British talent from Richard Harris to Maggie Smith, Robbie Coltrane to Alan Rickman, Julie Walters to Gary Oldman, and many more. While on the red carpet at the 76th Primetime Emmys, IndieWire asked Oldman if he’d be open to returning to play Sirius Black in the upcoming reboot. Though the actor said “no one’s approached me,” he added that he still holds a soft spot for the character and believes there’s more to explore.
“I love, Sirius,” Oldman said. “He wasn’t in it enough. He turned up and then he went through the veil.”

There are classic films, and then there are classic films — the kind that define a generation, create cultural moments, and deserve to be left untouched.
The Harry Potter franchise is one of those.
When rumors of a potential Harry Potter TV series first surfaced, they were irritating. When HBO got the green light in 2023, it was downright maddening.

And now? With casting calls for a new Harry, Hermione, and Ron, it’s beyond outrageous.

Harry Potter was an eight-movie series that was full of tragic character deaths, but there was one death that came through better in the books. The Harry Potter movies were based on J.K. Rowling's famous book series, which centered around the wizard Harry Potter and his adventures at Hogwarts, the School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. After a rocky start, Harry got to know his godfather, Sirius Black. As the only family Harry had left, Sirius was a critical connection. After the confusion of Sirius' identity was resolved, the two quickly formed a strong bond, which made Sirius' death hugely important.
Sirius was introduced in the Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban movie, starting viewers off on a journey that would see Sirius become vital to Harry. The Animagus was imprisoned in Azkaban but escaped once he realized the grave danger that Harry was in and proceeded to make himself known as Harry's godparent,...
