In 2025, a year that was long-heralded as one all about new discoveries, that tradition only continued. While this year’s lineup included a number of returning names, like Ira Sachs, Amy Berg, Andrew Ahn, Justin Lin, Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson, Cooper Raiff, Kahlil Joseph, Heidi Ewing & Rachel Grady, David France, Jesse Short Bull, Ryan White, Sophie Hyde, Jesse Moss & Amanda McBaine, Meera Menon, and Clint Bentley, there were also a hefty number of newbies joining those filmmaking ranks.

Benoit Blanc’s next mystery is afoot. Daniel Craig will reprise the role of the famous detective who drove Rian Johnson’s two previous installments, Knives Out and Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery.

Johnson will helm the third film in the mystery series, which recently received its title and timeline for release. Following the original 2019 film starring Chris Evans and Ana de Armas, Netflix made a deal for two more sequel films with Johnson.

As part of a just-announced career retrospective for newly minted Golden Globe winner Demi Moore, the Santa Barbara Film Festival will be hosting a free 2 p.m. screening at the Arlington Theatre of her Oscar-nominated performance and film The Substance, followed by an in-person conversation with the star.

The retrospective actually begins on Friday, February 7 at 5:40 p.m. Pt at Sbiff’s Film Center with a screening of Adrian Lyne’s Indecent Proposal, in which Moore co-starred with Robert Redford and Woody Harrelson. It will continue February 10 when the festival will host a free screening of Jerry Zucker’s Oscar-winning Ghost at 11 a.m., also at the Arlington.

Twilight star Robert Pattinson has a response for anyone who still wants to tell him that the franchise “ruined the vampire genre.”

In an interview with GQ Spain, the soon-to-be Mickey-17 star shared how he deals with this opinion almost two decades after the first film arrived.

“I love that people keep telling me, ‘Man, ‘Twilight’ ruined the vampire genre,’” Pattinson said in the interview, translated by Variety. “Are you still stuck on that shit? How can you be sad about something that happened almost 20 years ago? It’s crazy.”

In a recent interview with The Cut, Palmer reflected on her time as a child actress in films like “Akeelah and the Bee” and the Nickelodeon show “True Jackson, VP.” While many of her peers received a great deal of attention of similar work, Palmer always felt a bit ignored.

Keegan-Michael Key is shaping up for a busy 2025 as he has two dream projects currently in development.

The Emmy winner said he “has a good feeling” about what this year has in store while teasing an upcoming sports project and another in the action genre. “We’ll see how it goes,” he added.

“I don’t know how to answer without saying things I can’t say. If only I could tell you,” Key told People.

“I have two projects in development that I’m very excited about,” he noted. “Both are checks on my bucket list. One goes in the sports world direction and one goes in the action direction, which is very different than a lot of the work that I have done in the past.”

Lee Cronin's The Mummy: With a release date of April 17, 2026, we now have an official title for the latest horror film from Evil Dead Rise's Lee Cronin, who is is writing and directing the film, produced by Atomic Monster, Blumhouse and Doppelgängers, for New Line.

"This will be unlike any Mummy movie you ever laid eyeballs on before. I'm digging deep into the earth to raise something very ancient and very frightening," said writer/director Lee Cronin.

The investment will further support strategic initiatives and strengthen its international footprint, driving additional growth.

The arrangement will additionally be used to support expansion into new markets and strengthen the company’s international footprint.

It comes after a mighty year at the box office for Neon after Osgood Perkins’s summer release Longlegs starring Maika Monroe and Nicolas Cage became its highest earner at the box office on more than $126m worldwide, of which $75m came from North America and $52m from international markets.

Oscar-winning indie studio Neon has secured a new $200 million credit facility, flushing the company with cash for operations and growth.

The infusion, which could keep “Anora” star Mikey Madison in lucite platform heels until the end of time, is led by Neon’s existing credit provider Comerica Bank. The raise will contribute to film acquisition, development, production, distribution and market expansion, Neon said Monday.

“Comerica believes in the vision of Neon and couldn’t be more thrilled to support their continued growth. Their ability to identify and curate film, while finding innovative ways to connect audiences with cinema, is unmatched,” said Comerica Entertainment Group SVP Derek Riedel, adding that the “independent film landscape is a core pillar of our business and we are excited about the future.”

Riedel oversaw the transaction for the bank, with Neon chief financial officer Ryan Friscia negotiating on the studio side.

The two Oscar-nominated actors walked around the confetti-lined streets of Times Square while filming scenes for their new crime thriller Play Dirty on Wednesday night (November 20) in New York City.

Earlier in the week, Mark, 53, was spotted filming a few scenes at a park in Brooklyn.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Play Dirty is an adaption of Donald E. Westlake’s Parker novels and follows Mark “as the hardened professional thief who is, naturally, double-crossed and left for dead. His hunt for revenge, however, brings with it a shot at the biggest heist of his career. But, per the studio, even with the help of his partner, an actor-slash-con artist named Grofield, he’ll still need to outsmart a South American dictator, the New York mob and the world’s richest man if he hopes to stay alive.

In recent months, we’ve learned that Silver Linings Playbook Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence, The Batman star Robert Pattinson, and The Book of Clarence‘s Lakeith Stanfield have the lead roles in the thriller Die, My Love, which is coming our way from We Need to Talk About Kevin and You Were Never Really Here director Lynne Ramsay. Now, Deadline and World of Reel have unveiled the first images from the film, and they give us a look at the characters played by Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson. Robert Pattinson has come quite far since his role in the Twilight movies, which, to be fair, was one of his worst acting jobs. Throughout the four films, Pattinson’s performance progressively worsened. However, he did not have much to go on with the vampire character. Pattinson was not a fan-favorite when he was cast in the role of Batman. However, he surprised fans with his darker take on the character, something Matt Reeves also got credit for. The film has now set a major benchmark that James Gunn will have to surpass with his Dcu film, The Brave and the Bold. However, Pattinson’s upcoming projects seem to have more promise than his role as the Dark Knight.

Lynne Ramsay, an award-winning director, is making a strong return to feature filmmaking with “Die, My Love. ” It is a psychological thriller that examines the tough sides of marriage, motherhood, and mental health.

Jennifer Lawrence plays a new mother who is dealing with bipolar disorder and postpartum depression, and she’s the star of the show. The movie, based on Ariana Harwicz’s 2017 book of the same name, moves the story from a French village to the vast Montana farmland, giving it a very American feel.

The Martin Scorsese-produced Die, My Love began shooting in recent months with Jennifer Lawrence, Robert Pattinson, and Lakeith Stanfield, and today first stills of Lawrence and Pattinson have been revealed.

An adaptation of Ariana Harwicz’s 2019 novel, the film follows a mother who struggles to maintain her sanity as she battles with psychosis in a remote rural area. Co-written by Enda Walsh and shot by Seamus McGarvey, the project (per Ramsay) is “about mental health and the breakdown of a marriage. But it’s really fucking funny. At least I think it’s funny… But I’m Glaswegian, so I’ve [got] a really black sense of humor.”

Exclusive: Deadline has the first still from Die, My Love, starring Jennifer Lawrence, Robert Pattinson and Lakeith Stanfield, the new thriller from renowned Scottish filmmaker Lynne Ramsay (You Were Never Really Here), which adapts the 2017 novel by Ariana Harwicz.
