The adult film industry is back under the spotlight right now thanks to the release of Amanda Seyfried's Lovelace.

From a quick glance at The Victim‘s poster, one gets the impression there could in fact be some grindhouse influenced fun to be had, especially with veteran genre actor Michael Biehn at the helm. The presence of scream queen Danielle Harris certainly offers an even stronger attraction to the story, drawing fans in, and an axe wielding Biehn pretty much seals the deal on intrigue. Sure, I wasn’t expecting the next Planet Terror or anything particularly noteworthy, just a good time waster and some entertaining creativity. But as the saying goes, it was curiosity that killed the cat, and The Victim damn near desecrated this curious fuzzball.
I hate to be so critical on Michael Biehn’s first solo directorial effort, but almost every single mark was missed by production.
Let’s start simply with the elongated introductory credits, which actually foreshadow future events in the film just on length alone.

Update: Piranha 3Dd Will Get a Theatical Release in the UK
Story below is now defunct
The $20 million-budgeted horror sequel, Piranha 3Dd, has been pulled from its UK theatrical release and will instead go straight to DVD and Blu-ray, reports the British Video Association.
Piranha 3Dd, which follows on from its 2010 predecessor, Piranha 3D, re-releases the pre-historic school of blood-thirsty piranhas who make their way into a newly opened waterpark. The film was set to be released in UK cinemas late last year, but Entertainment Film Distributors have now withdrawn the film from their cinema schedule and will release it straight to DVD and Blu-ray through their Ev home entertainment arm.
Piranha 3D, a remake of Joe Dante’s cult ’70s exploitation horror, starred Elisabeth Shue, Jerry O’Connell, Ving Rhames and Christopher Lloyd fighting for survival after an underwater earthquake frees giant flesh-hungry fish during Spring break. Kelly Brook also appeared in the movie,...

Jessica Szohr will play the female lead in new teen comedy flick Owned.
Szohr will star as a high school student who tries to blackmail her nerdy neighbor with a compromising video when she joins a new school only for him willing to become popular as a result.
American Pie 2 helmer Jb Rogers will direct the movie from a script penned by Jim Freeman. New comedy will be co-produced by Radar Pictures and Dobre Films.
Jessica’s feature credits include Fired Up and Piranha 3D where she joined with former adult movie star Riley Steele, Kelly Brook, Jerry O’Connell, Elizabeth Shue and Richard Dreyfuss for a sexy remake of the 1978 cult film about killer fish.
Riley remembers before they’d shoot a scene:
Me and Kelly go out in a boat and basically try to get innocent Jessica to become a wild girl. So, I’m basically playing myself!

Dimension are certainly reshuffling like crazy of late, something's definitely shook them up and to coincide with the 'extreme' pushing back of the release for 'Apollo 18' word has arrived that something similar, albeit not as drastic, has also occurred to fishy follow-up 'Piranha 3Dd'. The sequelisation to Alexandre Aja's fun summer b-movie nod has been whipped back from it's intended September 2011 slot to 23 November. Can't really imagine that audiences prepping for Winter are going to be too involved in a sunshine based horror flick though, but who knows. In addition to this it seems that producer and writer Joel Soisson ('Hellraiser: Hellworld', 'Pulse 3') has been tapped by Dimension to redraft the script penned by 'Feast' triology scribes Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton, and to also co-produce. 'Feast' helmer John Gulager will direct. Aja's original gave us laughs,...

Leave it to a Frenchman to bring back the fun back to the exploitation film, a much-loved indigenous American art form that's grown somewhat antiseptic in recent years. But "bring back the fun" is exactly what director Alexandre Aja has done with Piranha 3D, his recent remake of Joe Dante's classic 1978 Jaws parody.
Dante's flick is perhaps the best B movie ever made. It has a little bit of everything — humor, suspense, cunning, gore. Hell, it even had a decent story. Produced by Roger Corman and written by smartypants indie filmmaker John Sayles, the original Piranha was part campy thrill ride, part ecological warning and part anti-war screed. With his reboot, Aja decided to pare that equation down and focus on one part: campy thrill ride,...

Hopefully you were keen enough to pick up 'Piranha 3D' on DVD or Blu-Ray when it was released last month here in the UK (if not at least entered our current 'Piranha 3D DVD and Blu-Ray Giveaway' - which ends this Friday). Our stateside cousins, however, had to wait until yesterday to grab their copy of Alexandre Aja's gory fish-infested remake to hit disc. But for those who haven't yet caught it Chud came across this great little 70 second clip on YouTube that pretty much features all the condensed highlights from the movie. Be warned that it's most definitely a Nsfw clip, plus contains major spoilers and general scene ruiners! But you can still glimpse at pornstars, including Riley Steele in wet bikini glory, a frolicking and hot Kelly Brook and much more nudity, topless ness and gore galore....

At Lake Victoria, a sudden underwater tremor sets free scores of the prehistoric man-eating piranha who eat up anything in their way, including thousands of college kids partying on the lake for Spring Break. Also, in the meantime sheriff Elizabeth Shue must rescue her family who are stuck on a sinking ship.
Let's not beat around the bush. Going into Piranha, one doesn't expect social commentary on what drives Spring Breakers to do the crazy things that they do, deep meaningful messages on the human condition, or a biting examination on the politics of being a female in the police force in a small town. There is one major horror release moving to DVD, Blu-Ray and other formats today, along with a minor independent title. Most have heard of Piranha 3D. But for those who have missed the theatrical screening, here is your chance to own the title. This horror thriller would put thousands of tiny man-eating fish in your living room, as long as gratuitous nudity does not hamper your good time. There are a great number of special features on the Blu-Ray for this title e.g. deleted scenes, featurettes. However, the extra features on the DVD are sparse. More details on the special features for both formats are below.
Now, Legion: The Final Exorcism reads like a knock off of the Eli Roth produced The Last Exorcism, with a review of this second title here: The Last Exorcism Review. Read the plots for both, for some surreal coincidences. However, Mti Home Video...

Dimension Films' 'Piranha 3Dd' (Aka 'Piranha 3D: The Sequel') will arrive in theatres on 16 September 2011, just missing out on that all important Summer rush, but this latest news may just get a few more bums on seats. Mr Ving Rhames may return for the sequel. His character, Deputy Fallon, never actually died on screen in the first film, so it's entirely possible that he'll make a return (even though likely badly scarred or injured). The follow-up to Alexandre Aja's scare fest remake 'Piranha 3D', which was full of blood, guts and gore - not to mention boobies, nude girls (including Kelly Brook) and naked pornstars (like Riley Steele (below)), was good old fashioned horror fun and I'm very happy at the news of a sequel. 'Piranha 3Dd' will be helmed by 'Feast' triology director John Gulager and penned by both Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan.

As previously reported the sequel to Alexandrea Aja's brilliantly tongue-in-cheek horror/comedy remake 'Piranha 3D' is revving up and according to SFX make-up artist Gary Tunnicliffe 'They're gonna go for it! The follow-up 'Piranha 3D: The Sequel', but better known currently as 'Piranha 3Dd' (titter) is due to be helmed by 'Feast' trilogy director John Gulager. Hopefully a new host of porn actresses and the like will be included in the new cast list which saw a string of hotties in it's predecessor in the form of Kelly Brook, Riley Steele, Jessica Szohr and Dina Meyer, Spring breakers and wet t-shirt girls a-plenty! Director Alexandre Aja ('Mirrors', 'The Hills Have Eyes', 'Haute Tension') certainly put good old fashioned blood, gore, tits and more back onto the big screen with a splash and a bang this Summer with his 'Piranha 3D' remake. It's old school horror-fun and it's swimming onto Blu-Ray and DVD shelves across the Us on 11 January. The gory flick starred Elisabeth Shue, Jerry O'Connell, Adam Scott, Ving Rhames, Jessica Szohr, Steven R. McQueen, Eli Roth, Richard Dreyfuss and Christopher Lloyd. And of course featured the unforgettable underwater naked lesbian make-out session with Brit hottie Kelly Brook and pornstar Riley Steele. Director of the 'Feast' trilogy John Gulager and it's two writers Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan (better known for penning 'Saw IV', 'Saw V', 'Saw VI' and the upcoming 'Saw 3D' as well as more recently 'The Collector') will all soon be teaming up once again for 'Piranha 3D: The Sequel', or what is to be known offically as 'Piranha 3Dd'. A tongue in cheek title for what's certain to be an exuberantly toungue in cheek horror follow-up. Alexandre Aja's remake, released earlier this year, was huge fun and contained heaps of blood and gore as well as notable nudity, topless pornstars and a mesmerising underwater lesbian scene with two of it's naked stars Kelly Brook and pornstar Riley Steele (below). No word yet if Alexandre Aja himself will return to direct but I do hope he can squeeze this one in. 'Piranha 3D', currently showing in theatres stars Elisabeth Shue, Ving Rhames, Jerry O'Connell, Jessica Szohr, Steven R. McQueen, Adam Scott, Kelly Brook (below) and Riley Steele. It's worth the admission cost just to see Brook and Steele's underwater lesbian show - naked and hot! Piranha 3D producer Mark Canton has stated, 'We are thrilled that audiences are not just loving Piranha 3D, but cheering for it. And it's fantastic that so many critics are...

Really!? I guess I shouldn't be surprised Dimension Films has announced a sequel to Piranha 3D, but having seen the movie I really don't see any point. The movie wasn't as fun as I was expecting it to be. Sure, there was a lot of blood, guts and boobies, but I still wasn't impressed. I knew it was going to be a badly scripted movie, with bad acting, but I think the movie took itself too seriously. I'm kind of shocked the movie got such good reviews! Maybe I missed something.
But for those of you who did enjoy it and were looking forward to the sequel here ya go! Congratulations, it's happening.
Here's the official Press Release:
After earning rave reviews from top critics, wild cheers from audiences around the country, and $10 million in its opening weekend boxoffice, Dimension Films is pleased to announce that Piranha 3D – The Sequel is in the works.

Hollywood moves fast these days -- sometimes greenlighting sequels to films before the originals even hit theaters, so today's announcement that Piranha 3D is getting a second installment isn't exactly a surprise.
Alexandre Aja's remake of the Roger Corman/Joe Dante cult classic about swarms of flesh-eating fish was a hit with critics (it's pulling an 81% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes currently) and fans alike, raking in 10 million bucks over the weekend. Granted, that's not a lot of cash for an opening weekend, but apparently Dimension is happy enough with those results to go ahead with a follow-up -- which is ironic since they hid this release from critics before it hit theaters on Friday. How much better might it have opened if we all could have raved about it prior to Friday?

Yes our friends at Dimension films have announced a sequel for Piranha 3D but before you can say CGI fishys we want to caution you that other films (Halloween 3D, Friday The 13th: Part 2) were also planned right after they opened (all with bigger profit margins) and look at where we are on development for those films...

Piranha 3D surprised audiences and critics this weekend by actually being a good movie. The gleefully entertaining blood-filled romp made a decent $10m on a easily recoupable $24m budget. Now, on the Monday after release producer Mark Canton exclaimed they “can’t wait to get to work on the sequel.”
They already have my ticket. /Film also uncovered possible plans to head to Thailand, that director Alexandre Aja talked about:
We had many ideas. There is the Full Moon Party in Thailand, a huge event with like 200,000 young people from all around the world taking mushrooms and partying on the beach.”
Aja said they use about 1 gallon of fake blood per human and Piranha 3D had 80,000. If Piranha continues to have success I hope we can expect over double for the sequel. I’m not sure how Aja can fit in more boobs and blood, but I leave that to...

Generally speaking, audiences reap little to no benefits from lowered expectations that develop as an inevitable defense mechanism against the overpriced crap shoveled into movie theaters. Sure, there's the occasional pleasant surprise, but filmmakers must intuitively sense that audiences will continue to tolerate a nearly infinite supply of shitty films (so long as the trailer looks halfway decent and gives away the best moments of the entire movie in question). In the most bizarre cases, however, the rarest of cinematic events -- the movie that is far more satisfying than it ever had any right to be -- occurs. Such is the case with Piranha 3D, with director Alexandre Aja (The Hills Have Eyes) stepping in to helm a faithful yet superior remake of Joe Dante's 1978 original. Screenwriters Peter Goldfinger and Josh Stolberg rework the original premise with a needless (although not entirely unwelcome) scientific backstory, which is damn...

Something fishy is going on in the world of cinema.
This weekend's much-touted release of Atmosphere's creature pic Piranha 3D, directed by Alexandre Aja, enters the arena on the heels of Syfy's recent fish-themed horror romp Mega Piranha, directed by Eric Forsberg.
And who's keeping score? Well, given the warm reception that Mega Piranha got at Comic-Con and the fact that it was Syfy's No1 watched movie premiere of 2010, probably a lot of people.
We all know about Piranha 3D, a $25million special effects extravaganza helmed by Alexandre Aja (Mirrors, The Hills Have Eyes), produced by Atmosphere Entertainment (The Spiderwick Chronicles, 300), and starring Kelly Brook, Richard Dreyfus, Elizabeth Shue and Ving Rhames.
The appeal of the film (beach babes, bouncing boobs and a girl-on-girl underwater kissing scene between Brook and porn star Riley Steele) was explained on our Lads Lounge blog.

Piranha 3D looked to be everything I’d fall for; I’m a huge fan of director Alexandre Aja’s The Hills Have Eyes, thought writers Pete Goldfinger and Josh Stolberg’s last film, Sorority Row, was a ton of fun and am always eager to check out new and more grotesque ways of killing off characters. HollywoodNews.com: If you’re going to act in a 3D monster movie about killer fish and bikini-clad protagonists, don’t think too hard about it.
Kelly Brook literally let herself ‘go’ in all sense of the word during the remake of Weinstein Co.’s “Piranha 3D,” directed by Alexandre Aja.
“It wasn’t apologizing for what it was. It was a big sexy movie. My role is that of a ‘Girls Gone Wild’ girl,” the British actress tells Collider.
In the film, Brook plays Dani, and gets to have underwater sex with porn thespian Riley Steele.
“You have to come with abandonment and give yourself to the director, what the story is and what it takes. You can’t start being prudish about nudity and bikinis. I think you have to just go for it and hope that they’re going to make you look the best you can look,...

Three new clips from French director Alexandre Aja's (Mirrors) new horror movie, Piranha 3D, have "surfaced" online. Featuring an eclectic ensemble cast — from pornstars Ashlynn Brooke and Riley Steele to Academy Award-nominee Elisabeth Shue and Academy Award-winner Richard Dreyfuss — Piranha 3D has received some surprisingly high marks for a movie about a school of ancient piranha that are unleashed from an underwater chasm by seismic activity and swarm to the surface to prey on frolicking co-eds. Sinking ships, toothy man-eaters, babes in bikinis ... these clips pretty much sum up what the movie is all about.

I hate Lake Havasu.
There is just something horribly obnoxious about such an intense collection of douchebags drinking, dancing, and barfing in a single location of the world all at once. The ever increasing and startlingly high douche content of the Lake Havasu spring break population may come to destroy the entire globe, and the existence of this threat can been proven by science. If the Lake Havasu douchebag density increases any further, a quantum singularity of pure unadulterated douchasity may manifest into being as a dreaded black douche hole which will suck our universe into a bizarre realm of orange tans and steroids before ripping our souls into dust.

A new video has been released featuring many of the actors from this weekend's Piranha 3D. The cast has gathered to make a case for why their new movie deserves at least one Academy Award for their efforts. Best Picture, Best Actor/Actress, Best Animated Feature -- they have an argument for why all would be acceptable and deserved.
In the video you'll see Jerry O'Connell (who's character has some lawsuit trouble stirred up), Adam Scott, Jessica Szohr, Riley Steele, Paul Scheer, and the lovely Kelly Brook (my gods, that accent).
Clearly this is just a joke (or is it...), but the video is really, really funny, and well worth a couple minutes of your time -- especially if you were able to see the movie this weekend. Once again, there may be what some would consider a spoiler toward the beginning...but again-again, it's Piranha 3D, folks. Click on...

Now that you've seen it, what did you think? Arriving in theaters everywhere today is Alexandre Aja's Piranha 3D, a horror remake of a late 70's cult classic that actually features an impressive cast, including Elisabeth Shue, Ving Rhames, Eli Roth, Richard Dreyfuss, Christopher Lloyd, Jerry O'Connell, Adam Scott, Riley Steele and Kelly Brook. But how is it? The movie currently has an amazing 82% on Rotten Tomatoes, is it really that good? How was the 3D? Is the cast the best part? Is this one of those surprise summer gems no one expected to great? So if you've seen it, leave a comment and tell us what you thought of Piranha 3D! I will be seeing Piranha 3D this weekend, but I haven't actually seen it myself. However, I wanted to open up the floor to discussion, as I've heard a lot of great things about the movie and...

Pirahna 3D
Directed by: Alexandre Aja
Cast: Jerry O’Connell, Ving Rhames, Elisabeth Shue, Adam Scott, Christopher Lloyd, Richard Dreyfuss
Running Time: 1 hr 29 mins
Rating: R
Release Date: August 20, 2010
Plot: The town of Lake Victoria explodes every year for Spring Break. And now, when everyone gets there, an underwater tremor releases prehistoric man-eating fish. Now a group of strangers must try to save the day.
Who’S It For? Thirsty for a B-movie, with some moments that take 3D to the next (albeit sophomoric) level?
Expectations: Bloody fun. I wanted them to be aware this is campy and never take themselves too seriously.
Scorecard (0-10)
Actors:
Steven R. McQueen and Jessica Szohr as Jake and Kelly: So you’re telling me you have a fantastic cast of recognizable actors, and for some reason you think we need a light teen romance thrown in for our Leads? Jake and Kelly kind of like each other,...

Who knew a death like that in 3D could not only be topped, but conquered so mightily that even the great gore hounds of cinema would cringe? That's the fate of poor Jerry O'Connell in Piranha 3D, and that's no spoiler. He's the sleazy porn-producing jerk, snorting cocaine on the bow of his ship and being as sexist as possible. Piranha 3D is gratuitous, trashy and exploitative. It’s filled with thinly drawn characters on camera simply to expose themselves for the titillation of the audience. There are too many underdeveloped central characters, often displaying no logical motivation for their bizarre actions – and yet, ashamed as I may be to admit it, the end result is one of the more memorably entertaining experiences I’ve had at the cinema this summer.
Frankly, this effort is the 80’s throwback flick of the summer; eerily authentic to its B-movie inspirations in execution. It’s even photographed in a similarly bright, almost bleached out manner. Had the producers replaced the modern dance cuts playing in the background with the worst tunes from their old LP collections, the illusion would be flawless.

The story so far: Following the release of Jaws, legendary exploitation-movie producer Roger Corman hired fledgling director Joe Dante to direct a rip-off movie about small, killer fish. The result was 1978′s gore-drenched, but tongue-in-cheek Piranha, which cost less than $1 million to make and grossed around $14 million in the U.S. alone. The sequel, 1981′s Piranha II: The Spawning, was directed by first-time film-maker James Cameron. The future Avatar and Titanic auteur was fired midway through the film’s shoot in Jamaica, and the movie was not a commercial success. But this disappointing experience did inspire Cameron to write his breakthrough movie,...

My prediction: If you have an ounce of fun in your body, you will love this movie about killer piranhas that overtake a town of hotties — in 3D!

Does this 3D remake improve on Joe Dante’s 1978 original, or is it just dead in the water? Here’s our review of Piranha 3D…
It’s been a thoroughly 80s summer. We’ve already seen the throwback action of The A-Team and The Expendables, and the high-kicking return of The Karate Kid. And in the dying days of the sunny season, along swims Piranha 3D, a movie with its fins fully immersed in the decade that subtlety forgot.
A remake of Joe Dante’s 1978 original, which was the better of an entire shoal of low-budget rip-offs that appeared in the wake of Jaws, Piranha 3D replays the exploitative gore and sleaze of late-70s and 80s grindhouse pictures with relish. A 90-minute dervish of bikinis, breasts and blood, director Alexandre Aja’s movie is gleefully, hedonistically salacious and shamelessly gory.
