If there has been one blessed change that the first half of Matlock Season 1 saw, it’s that the most uptight character on the series had finally let her hair down. Gotta love that tightly wound Sarah Franklin.
After spending far too many episodes so far up Olympia’s backside that she could check the senior attorney for teeth cavities, Kira came along and threw Sarah into a whirlwind crush.
Normally, a side character probably wouldn’t have made such an impact on the story, except most of her scenes on Matlock are with the titular character herself.
( Photo: Sonja Flemming/CBS )
I think it’s safe to say that almost every viewer was ready for Sarah to loosen her grip on just about anything she could get her hands on.
That, in no small part, is thanks to the introduction of Kira.

Matlock star Skye P. Marshall teases the show's most pivotal episode, offering a season 2 hint. Known for her past roles in Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and the CW superhero series Black Lightning, Marshall plays Olympia Lawrence in the Matlock reboot cast. So far in the CBS legal dramedy, Olympia has gradually gotten closer to Matty Matlock (Kathy Bates). But she doesn't know the big secret that Matty is hiding.
In recent comments to TVLine, Marshall teases that the “craziest” episode of the season will be episode 17, which is the penultimate episode. In the quote below, the actor talks about how the episode sets up season 2 and will leave the viewers questioning how the show will follow-up such a major development. Marshall's quote is below:
“When you see the last two episodes, you’re going to wonder, ‘What are they going to do with Season 2 now?’ And I’m really excited about that.

The Matlock midseason finale, "No, No Monsters," delivers a solid outing for Kathy Bates' new show, proving that it has a future beyond its game-changing twist. In the age of reboots and revivals, bringing back such an iconic series understandably gained various reactions. There was excitement over the show's premise, especially considering who was involved. That said, some skeptics didn't think a reboot of Andy Griffith's show was necessary. Ultimately, Matlock's well-executed twist showed that it is nothing like your average nostalgia-laced series.

It will be a family affair in the next episode of Elsbeth. It’s excellent news for Carrie Preston because who doesn’t love working with their spouse, especially on a show as fun as Elsbeth?
That’s right. Everyone’s favorite psycho from Evil, Michael Emerson, is bringing his cold, dead smile to the courtroom. CBS sure does like to keep everything in the Paramount family.
Preston and Emerson are best known for their roles on shows like Elsbeth and Evil, which are not only Paramount+ residents but stem from the same showrunners.

I wasn’t kidding when I called this episode a family affair. Both series have showrunners and married couple Robert and Michelle King’s hands working behind the scenes.
So, with two married couples in front and behind the camera, there’s bound to be a ridiculous amount of entertaining chemistry. Plus, don...

It seems safe to say that Miss Matlock has herself a nice pair of brass cojones underneath that unsuspecting septuagenarian act. That’s definitely a good sign after the last episode.
It’s no wonder Kathy Bates got her ninth Golden Globe nomination for her role as Matty. “Belly of the Beast” really showed why Bates was the absolute best choice for the part.
Now that Madeline Matlock has everything she needs with Senior’s laptop, it’s only a matter of time until the truth comes out.
(Sonja Flemming/CBS)
I’d like to remind everyone that the series’ creator has vehemently said that the big mystery will be wrapped up nicely by the end of Matlock Season 1.

All right, everyone can pick their jaws off of the floor. We wanted some answers, and NCIS: Origins threw us the absolute best curve balls.
For one, we finally know how Lala’s story is entangled with Gibbs’s. And we really got some answers about where things were headed regarding Gibbs’ revenge. That’s all the subtlety I had left in me.
I’m just going to say it now: this was by far the best episode of NCIS: Origins. Any time a show can make me audibly gasp, it’s a win in my book.
(Sonja Flemming/CBS)
This was such a heavy episode, but at least Kleenex wasn’t required to make it through. Just when we thought NCIS: Origins was going to zig, it zagged.

Here at TV Fanatic, we absolutely love it whenever we get the chance to talk with a star from one of our favorite shows. This time, I had the pleasure of chatting with one such individual from a lovely little show called Matlock.

If you haven’t figured it out by now, I’m happy to spotlight David Del Rio and his wonderfully lovable character, Billy. This guy is just as fun and sweet as his character.

Kathy Bates’ new show, Matlock, is such a hit that it is coming back for a second season, so fans were anxious when new episodes stopped for a bit.
The new show isn’t a reboot of the original Matlock; instead, it is a new vehicle that pays homage to Ben Matlock’s character, whom so many know and love.
Kathy Bates plays the intriguing Madeline Matlock and includes a star-studded cast with Skye P. Marshall, Kathy Bates, David Del Rio, and Leah Lewis.
Monsters and Critics reported that Matlock was taking a brief hiatus as the Thanksgiving holiday approached to warn fans when to expect a new episode.
Now, CBS is showing a new trailer for Matlock, and it seems that Kathy’s character, Madeline (Matty) Matlock, is called a “shark” for her fierce actions on a case.

It’s safe to say NCIS: Origins is no longer tip-toeing around the idea of Gibbs’ revenge for the murder of his family. The team is headed down to Mexico, but at least there is tequila aplenty.
Just from the vibe of the promo for “Vivo o Muerto,” it’s clear that the episode is going to be action-packed, so, at least, the series is consistent. At least we’ll never have to worry about a musical episode.
For those not proficient in Español, I will happily translate the NCIS: Origins episode title for full dramatic effect. The episode title translated into English is “Dead or Alive.” Heavy, am I right?
(Sonja Flemming/CBS)
We should all start bracing ourselves for an epic couple of episodes before NCIS: Origins goes on a little break through the holidays.

It shouldn’t take a funeral for Days of Our Lives to give us a break from nonsense and get back to what’s made this soap amazing for more than half a century, but here we are.
Now that Doug’s memorial is behind us and most of the classic characters have left again, it’s back to dealing with Clyde Weston, not to mention the nonsense surrounding Johnny’s one-night stand with Joy and Ej’s manipulations.
There is a bright spot, though. Days of Our Lives spoilers for the week of 12-09-24 promise a trip down memory lane for Steve and Kayla, some more of Hope before she leaves, and a possible reason for Shawn to stay permanently.

Blue Bloods did it again, delivering another amazing episode.
It was hard to focus, knowing that at this time next week, I will be trying to see through my tears well enough to put my thoughts together about the series finale.
But Blue Bloods Season 14 Episode 17 didn’t give off a single sign that it was the penultimate episode. It just delivered the strong stories and family moments that make this show so special.

Gabi’s mother desperately wanted to believe that one of the girls who bullied her daughter also ended her life, and Danny wanted almost as badly to give that to her.

Note: The following story contains spoilers from “Matlock” Season 4, Episode 8.
As “Matlock” dives deeper into the revenge plot instigated by Kathy Bates’ Madeline Matlock, this week’s Christmas episode put a spotlight on junior associate, Billy, with a surprising heartbreak that “floored” star David Del Rio.
After Billy revealed to Sarah (Leah Lewis) that he was planning on proposing to his longterm girlfriend, Claudia — but was feeling pressure from his sisters to craft the perfect moment — he embraced spontaneity and decided to pop the question at Jacobson Moore’s holiday party. In a shocking turn of events, however, Claudia rejected his proposal, telling him they aren’t meant to be together.
“There are so many questions that I have — They’ve been together for eight years. What is it? Billy is this charismatic guy … why wouldn’t you want to have a guy like this in your life?” Del Rio told TheWrap.

Fans of Matlock may be worried that Matty and Olympia’s relationship will change, and one of the actresses is speaking up about that!
Matlock has become CBS’s biggest new hit series of the 2024-25 season, and for good reason. The show got initial attention for starring Oscar winner Kathy Bates as Madeline “Matty” Matlock, an aged former attorney who joins the law firm of Jacobson Moore. Matty is soon working under Olympia Lawrence (Skye P. Marshall), who’s at first wary but realizes Matty’s skills at being unnoticed help cases.
However, the first episode ended with the massive twist that Matty is Madeline Kingston, a wealthy woman. Her daughter died of an opioid overdose and Matty believes someone at Jacobson Moore buried files that could have taken them off the streets earlier. She’s thus infiltrating the firm to find out the truth, with Olympia among the suspects.

My goodness, there were enough tears in Matlock Season 1 Episode 6 to fill a pool. We gasped, laughed, and cried, but most of all, we had a great time with another incredible episode.
From learning about Olympia and Julian’s past to seeing when Matty first had the idea to take down Jacobson Moore, so much was revealed in the cleverest of ways.
That said, I have to make a confession here and now. If you read previous reviews for Matlock, I thought the firm was called Jacobs & Moore.
(Sonja Flemming/CBS)
I only realized the actual name in the beginning scene when Matty looked at the building directory.
This is why there are subtitles. I can’t be the only one who thought it was Jacobs & Moore.

There’s a particular hold Kathy Bates has on audiences, no matter the role. Matlock is proving to be no different. The actress continues to deliver one memorable episode after another.
It’s wild to think this was only the third episode. Is it me, or does it feel like the series has been around for much longer? That has to be the power of Kathy Bates’ acting.
Even though we are only three episodes into Matlock, Bates’ presence elevates the series to “must-watch” status. It seems to be having an effect on her fellow cast members as well.
(Sonja Flemming/CBS)
I swear everyone on this show is acting their butts off. I don’t blame them either. Working with an icon and legend like Kathy Bates must be intimidating as hell.

Matlock is back on the air, but it isn’t the one your grandmother used to watch; oh no, this is an all-new show, and fans love it.
While this new Matlock is two episodes into Season 1, some great news about the show was released.
Matlock, or Matlock 2024, as some have called it to distance it from the original starring Andy Griffith, does share some similarities with its namesake.
As Monsters and Critics reported, both shows used a lawyer as their main character. Andy Griffith originally played Ben Matlock, but Kathy Bates now stars as Madeline Matlock in the new show.
The similarities start to wane there since Kathy Bates is a lawyer and so much more, as viewers learn she hides a secret revealed at the end of the first episode.
