- On 17 April 2015, British tabloid The Sun printed an opinion-piece by her attacking immigrants who cross the Mediterranean to settle in Britain, in which she wrote: 'Make no mistake, these migrants are like cockroaches... they are built to survive a nuclear bomb'. This appeared on the same day that a fishing vessel carrying migrants sunk off the coast of Libya, claiming 800 lives. Her article was denounced by, amongst others, the United Nations commissioner for human rights.
- Described by Donald Trump during his Presidential campaign as "respected British columnist Katie Hopkins", an appellation which occasioned universal derision in the UK. After Trump's election victory, she said she would be leaving Britain to live in the United States, which broadcaster Charlie Brooker said was the one good piece of news to come out of the US 2016 election. However, more than two years after Trump's inauguration, she's still in Britain.
