Exclusive: Horror legend Barbara Crampton has wrapped filming on her latest genre feature, Jakob’s Wife, after an under-the-radar shoot in Canton, Mississippi.

Travis Stevens (Girl On The Third Floor) directed. The project comes from production and sales outfit Amp International, which recently premiered its latest movie, Romola Garai’s Amulet, in Sundance’s Midnight program.

Jakob’s Wife was developed by Amp and Crampton from a script by Mark Steensland, Kathy Charles and Travis Stevens. The story, a supernatural horror, follows a woman in her late 50s who, after a chance encounter with ‘the Master’, discovers a new sense of power, a change that comes with a heavy toll.

Also starring are Larry Fessenden (Stake Land), Bonnie Aarons (The Nun), Robert Rusler (Weird Science), Sarah Lind (Edgemont), Mark Kelly (Fear the Walking Dead), Nyisha Bell, and Phil Brooks (Girl On The Third Floor).

A classic film noir is getting a remake and modern update.

Silver Plane Films and Kingfisher Media announced that the production for D.O.A. Blood River will start shooting this month in Louisiana.

The noir thriller is inspired by director Rudolph Mate’s 1950 thriller D.O.A.

D.O.A Blood River will follow Sam Collins as a pharmaceutical sales rep, who visits a small town in Louisiana to close a business deal of a lifetime. Collins enters a world of sex, corruption and murder—as he is poisoned with no antidote. In a search for answers, he turns to a local girl named Jesse, in which their path leads to a voodoo priestess that confirms Sam’s fate. With nowhere to go and no others to trust, Sam and Jesse are on the run from police detectives, the Mob and a corrupt sheriff who wants him dead.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story director Gareth Edwards will speak at SXSW 2017 in Austin, Texas, conference and festival organisers have announced.

The festival, which runs from March 10-17, will feature approximately 700 sessions and keynote speakers who besides Edwards include Everest photographer Cory Richards and Transparent creator Jill Soloway.

Exclusive: Jamie Kennedy has joined the cast of Angela Shelton’s indie Heart Baby!, a biopic of convict and boxer George Lee Martin. Gbenga Akinnagbe is already set to play Martin, who became infamous in the Tennessee prison system as an unbeatable boxer. When he is offered an opportunity at freedom in exchange for fighting for Team USA in the 1984 Olympic Games, he shocks everyone by saying no.

Kennedy will play Tj, a hard-edged member of a motorcycle gang who takes revenge on an inmate who molested George as a child. Shelton, Shawn Caulin-Young and Kim Barnard are producing the film, which is nearing a production star in New Orleans.

Kennedy, who also is set to star in the NBC midseason drama series Heartbeat, is repped by aTa Management and Esa.
