Once upon a time, four-time Academy Award-winner Woody Allen was considered one of America's finest filmmakers. There was a realistic and lived-in feeling to his characters, all of whom were armed with a tongue so sharp they could shred a piece of paper into confetti. Allen often acted in his films, and his distinct vocal inflections and pattern of speaking made him a figure like William Shatner, Christopher Walken, and Arnold Schwarzenegger in that just about everyone has a Woody Allen impression. But the now semi-retired filmmaker is known for more than just his filmography, trademark stammer, or repetitive statements — Allen has also been accused of sexually assaulting his adoptive daughter Dylan Farrow and made headlines when he married his former partner Mia Farrow's adoptive step-daughter Soon-Yi Previn, despite having known her since she was 10 years old.

When Hulu announced they were going to revive "Futurama" for a third time, the good news (everyone) was immediately chased by the bad news that actor John Dimaggio -- who plays Bender and numerous other characters on the show -- may not return. The actor explained in a post on X (formerly known as Twitter) back in February 2022 that the studio didn't offer him enough money, but more than that, were seemingly dismissive -- in an unspecified way -- of the entire voice cast. This led to a month-long contract standoff wherein it looked like Dimaggio may actually quit the show and move on. This would have been unthinkable to "Futurama" fans, as Bender was one of the most important characters on the show, and having another actor -- no matter how good they were -- would seem like too large a change to accept.

Family Guy has had an impressive array of guest stars since it arrived on Fox in 1999.
The series continues to crack jokes with the recently launched Family Guy Season 22, which debuted earlier this month.
Sunday's new episode, Family Guy Season 22 Episode 3, titled "A 'Stach from the Past, pokes fun at Tom Selleck's reverse mortgage commercials for American Advisors Group.
If you watch live TV, there's a good chance you've seen the clips we're talking about, but we doubt you've witnessed them in animated form.
With the help of voice actor Josh Robert Thompson, Selleck's commercials get raked over the coals in this one, and TV Fanatic has an exclusive clip.
In the 90-second clip, we see the commercial in all its glory, with the fictional Selleck striking a connection through the screen with Peter.
If you watch Family Guy online, you know Peter is one of the easiest people to manipulate.

Fellow insomniacs, our moment is here. Craig Ferguson, the hilarious former host of "The Late Late Show," is apparently getting back into the late-night game, per Deadline. The outlet is reporting that for the first time since he left the CBS show in 2014, Ferguson is working on a new syndicated late-night project, this time for Sony Pictures Television. The show, titled "Channel Surf with Craig Ferguson," reportedly shot a pilot episode in the UK earlier this month.
"Channel Surf" sounds like it'll take a different approach to the format that Ferguson so skillfully played around with during the last iteration of his late-night career. This time around, the show is set to be just 30 minutes long and will feature Ferguson and friends reviewing some of the biggest TV moments of the week. This may sound a bit like the now-ended E! Series "The Soup," but rest assured, Ferguson has something else in mind.

Exclusive: In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth…and while God was doing that, Timur Bekmambetov created the series iBible — which will be premiering its first five episodes at SXSW starting March 16.
iBible is a screenlife project from Bekmambetov which, as the title suggests, tells biblical stories through the screen of a smartphone via the various apps we interact with on a daily basis. The audience will be able to scroll through two-minute episodes that dive into a famous story from the Book of Genesis: Adam and Eve, Noah’s Ark, Cain and Abel, David and Goliath, Ten Commandments, among others. This would be perfect Quibi fodder… if the mobile platform still existed.

If you thought you heard Morgan Freeman’s iconic voice booming out of the crab in “Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar,” you are definitely not alone. But you are also definitely wrong.
Although the crab references Freeman’s films like “Shawshank Redemption” and “Driving Miss Daisy” when speaking to Star (Kristen Wiig) on the beach in the film, it’s not Freeman at all. It’s actually Josh Robert Thompson, credited on the film’s IMDb page as playing Morgan Freemond.
According to Film School Rejects, Thompson is actually the next best thing to Freeman if you can’t score the real actor, because Thompson’s impression of Freeman is so on point. He has impersonated Freeman for other projects, including doing voice work for Freeman’s “Lego Movie” character for the “Lego Movie” video game.

Blake Shelton is giving Gwen Stefani a sweet shout-out on his new album.
With Texoma Shore set for release on Nov. 3, the country singer has officially unveiled the album's track list, featuring one song called "Turnin' Me On," which Shelton co-wrote with Jessi Alexander and Josh Osborne. The sultry track is about exactly what you'd think it'd be about, featuring one line that appears to be a direct reference to Stefani's iconic red pout.
"Knows how to set me on fire, she's always holdin' the match. And when my body's beside hers, there ain't no turnin' back," Shelton croons. "She's Revlon red in the blackest night, lighting up the room in the world just like she's turnin' me on."
Stefani, of course, has been a longtime brand ambassador for Revlon cosmetics -- and an even longer advocate for a bold red lip. (Subtle, Blake!)

Fxx's Man Seeking Woman has always been a comedy with a very elastic sense of reality. When Jay Baruchel's Josh fears that his girlfriend's platonic guy friend is a threat to their relationship, the guy turns out to be a Japanese penis monster. When he needs advice on what kind of text to send someone he met on the train, he convenes a collection of scientists and military leaders. And when his sister Liz (Britt Lower) had an affair with a married man earlier this season, it was with Santa Claus himself. In the series' first season, that mash-up of romantic comedy tropes and surreal fantasy concepts could make Man Seeking Woman an explosively funny comedy, but also a profoundly uneven one. The design of it, adapted from creator Simon Rich's comic stories about dating, made it less a comedy series than a sketch show with a continuing cast of characters.

They're watching a movie together on TV, when a breaking news bulletin interrupts the broadcast and informs them that a meteor is about to hit the Earth, and the anchors implore the viewers that if there's anything they're waiting to do,...

You’ve probably seen the ads at a bus stop or on a billboard by now: A woman standing slack-jawed and murder-eyed in a hot pink dress, clutching the string of a heart-shaped balloon that's threatening to sink back to earth. Beside it, in unhinged all-caps: Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.
It's a loaded title, to be sure — one that carries the baggage of decades of vengeful, smoking-at-the-nostrils fictional females familiar from rom-coms and stalker flicks alike. ("Psycho Ex-Girlfriend" even has its own extensive entry under TV Tropes.) But far from adding another...

Josh Hutcherson stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live on Tuesday night to chat about The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2. The appearance was kind of a full-circle moment for the actor, who had his first chat with Jimmy about a decade ago, when he was only 13. "You didn't tell me where babies came from," Josh said, "but you did give me a fake ID, with what looked like the beard that you are now wearing." To sweeten the deal, Jimmy even had a clip from the interview! Watch the incredible throwback above, then relive Josh's best moments with Jennifer Lawrence and Liam Hemsworth in 2015.

If you're like us and value your sleep, you probably nodded off into your Ambien dreamland before the party started on post-prime time TV. Don't worry; we've got you covered. Here's the best of what happened last night on late night.
Jimmy Kimmel had the honor, once again, of revealing People's new Sexiest Man Alive. But first, Jimmy had the audience guess who it might be, hiding the man's face and disguising his voice. The audience first learned that he was taping his spot from London, he has an "accent," he has never been Sexiest Man Alive before, he's married to a celebrity, he's not an actor, he has kids, he has tattoos, and -- the clincher -- he used to be an athlete. After a guess of Nick Carter (?), someone finally asked if it's David Beckham. And it was! David, 40, thanked his parents, his hairdresser, his stylist, and Photoshop for the honor.

There are very few celebrity guests that come on "Howard Stern" that truly feel like they could be a member of the show's staff, but from his very first appearance George Takei felt right at home with Howard, Robin, Fred, Gary and the rest. Over the last 25 years the "Star Trek" icon has been on the show dozens of times, and each time I find myself wishing that he could become a permanent fixture. His oh-so-proper diction is betrayed consistently by a naughty sensibility that makes him a true delight and game for anything that comes his way. In celebration of George's appearance on this week's show, during which he judged the name of a contest that I probably shouldn't mention here, I've rounded up ten of his greatest "Howard Stern" moments in no particular order. 1. The time "Oh My" became his catchphrase. While Takei admits he's been using the term "Oh my" for years,...

Television late night has been the subject of a lot of talk over the past five years. There was the battle between Jay Leno and Conan O'Brien over who will host "The Tonight Show". There was the surge in popularity of Jimmy Fallon once he took over the position, creating viral video after viral video. There was the time change of "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" to compete with the primary late night shows. There was the announcement of the retirement of David Letterman, and the announcement of Stephen Colbert taking over the position. One talk show host, however, decided to keep a low profile and develop what has been the most entertaining (and strangest) late night talk show over the past ten years. Craig Ferguson is that man, who has helmed CBS's "The Late Late Show" since January 3, 2005 and will host his final episode tonight (December 19th) at the ripe time of 12:35 A.

Amy Adams played "Holiday Flip Cup" with Jimmy Fallon on "The Tonight Show" on Thursday, and ... she did her best. She's hosting "Saturday Night Live" this weekend, with One Direction as the musical guest, so hopefully Amy is better at hosting than playing drinking games. But her little "ack!" sound when things go wrong is pretty cute.
The amazing Nick Offerman, also a guest on "The Tonight Show," read a "shortened, more casual version" of ''Twas the Night Before Christmas." Love his Christmas sweater. Honestly.
Jimmy Kimmel - and yes he really wore that red Christmas suit - welcomed Mel Brooks, who didn't want to sit in the chair next to the desk.

Ufc on Fox 12 had a fair number of big names spread throughout its card: Robbie Lawler, Matt Brown, Anthony Johnson, Antonio Rogerio Nogueira (a.k.a. Lil Nog). Bobby Green, Josh Thompson, and Clay Guida are all guys who are capable of headlining or co-headlining an event, and all of them were packed onto the main card last night.
Some fighters, like Lawler and Thompson, are still cashing in on Strikeforce contracts, while others, like Brown and Guida, have worked their way up through the Ufc ranks to get to the point where they can earn a decent wage.
A number of fighters went home happy even in defeat, while others, despite hefty win bonuses, might not have banked what you would expect for a top draw.

Ufc on Fox 12 took place live from San Jose, CA Saturday night, and despite a slow start, the main card ensured there was a solid night of action to enjoy.
Headlined by a title eliminator between “Ruthless” Robbie Lawler and Matt “The Immortal” Brown, Ufc on Fox 12 started slow, with seven of the first eight bouts going to decision. Some of these were entertaining, such as Jorge Masvidal’s defeat of The Ultimate Fighter alum Daron Cruishank, or a women’s catchweight bout (originally set for strawweight) between Julianna Lima and Joanna Jędrzejczyk. Some, however, lost the crowd in attendance, like Patrick Cummin’s sound wrestling-based drubbing of the returning Kyle Kingsbury, who had not fought since 2012 and showed signs of considerable ring rust.

In The Vault this week, we welcome director Dave Parker (The Hills Run Red, ColdWater) and journalist Rebekah McKendry from Fangoria. These are two of the biggest horror nerds I know (and I know a lot of horror nerds) so they give some great insight on this week's film, Dead & Buried.
Dead & Buried is a kind of low-key zombie flick. I had never even heard of it until we started working on The Vault. The small New England coastal town of Potter's Bluff is a popular vacation spot, but visitors frequently end up, well, murdered. But thanks to some voodoo witchcraft, the dead rise again, as residents who don't eat brains and, frankly, act as if nothing happened - except, of course, when it is time to kill the newbies.
Directed by Gary Sherman (Poltergeist III, Raw Meat), the screenplay comes from Dan O'Bannon, best known for writing the original Alien.

On this week's The Vault, we have a classic from the godfather of Italian horror: Dario Argento's Deep Red. Deep Red (or Profondo Rosso in Italy) is probably best remembered for that creepy doll and the classic score by Goblin. Joining us for Deep Red are special effects artist Greg McDougall (The Purge) and actor/comedian Josh Thompson (The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson). While Josh may not be known as a "horror guy," he is a horror fan - and he does a killer Morgan Freeman impression that you must see to believe. (I swear, we didn't doctor it at all!)
Deep Red follows a pianist who witnesses the brutal murder of a famous psychic. He becomes embroiled in the case, but the deeper he gets, the more the bodies pile up. Deep Red marks the first collaboration of many between Argento and the band Goblin, led by frontman Claudio Simonetti.

Morgan Freeman has one of the finest voices in cinema, which is why this parody of the star and his distinctive tone is so perfect. Actor, comedian and impressionist Josh Robert Thompson imagines what it would be like if Freeman became the voice of your car's Gps — and it's brilliant. Driving with the Gps version of Freeman is like having your own tour guide, dramatic voice-over narrator, and smart-ass (he calls the stalkery press cars "douchebuggies," for starters) all rolled into one. It's a lot more fun than Driving Miss Daisy, too. Thompson has a few other impressions posted on his YouTube page. His George Lucas (complete with epic neck fat) and Robert Downey Jr. impersonations are equally dead on — but we can see someone with an untrained...

So what do you get when you take the oh-so-melodious bass of Morgan Freeman — as impersonated by actor/comedian Josh Robert Thompson — and add a selection of passages from E. L. James’ erotic Fifty Shades trilogy? I think the experience of hearing ‘Morgan Freeman’ say “kinky f–kery” speaks for itself (Nsfw):
Faux-Freeman is, of course, not the first to read from Fifty Shades of Grey. Kristen Stewart, Charlize Theron, Chris Hemsworth all took turns reading passages from the book earlier this summer in advance of the premiere of Snow White and the Huntsman. Ellen DeGeneres recorded a few lines back in April.
