Virgin River season 6, episode 5, "Love Story," is one of the most controversial episodes of the new season. What's now known as the "Brie and Brady episode" was actually written by Cobra Kai star Thomas Ian Griffith, who stars as Terry Silver in The Karate Kid movies as well as Netflix's Cobra Kai, and Mary Page Keller.
Who knew the man who plays the most ruthless villain in Cobra Kai also has the finesse and talent necessary to write one of the biggest episodes of Virgin River season 6? Not us!
For those who don't recall, "Love Story" is the midpoint of Virgin River season 6. The episode marks a major turning point in the relationship of lovers, Brady (Benjamin Hollingsworth) and Brie (Zibby Allen). After Brie leaves a suspicious message on Brady's voicemail during the Bachelorette/Bachelor parties, she learns that Lark (Elise Gatien) is actually in a relationship with Jimmy...

While holding out hope for a ninth season of Gilmore Girls, Netflix has the perfect TV show that will fill the Stars Hollow-shaped hole in fans' hearts. Amy Sherman-Palladino's teen comedy-drama series ran for seven seasons on The WB and The CW (for its final season) before ending in 2007. Almost ten years later, though, Netflix revived Gilmore Girls for a four-episode miniseries — Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life — which served as the show's unofficial eighth season. After it ended on a cliffhanger, many believe and hope season 9 is inevitable, but as of 2024, it hasn't happened (yet).
Amy Sherman-Palladino and almost the entire original cast of Gilmore Girls returned for Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life on Netflix in 2016.
The good news is that many more TV series similar to Gilmore Girls exist. The world might never run out of comedy-drama shows to watch, after all (with some...

The drama never stops on Virgin River. The romantic Netflix series returned on Dec. 19 with a new season focused on Mel (Alexandra Breckenridge) and Jack’s (Martin Henderson) long-awaited wedding. While the preparations for their big day were the emotional heart of the show’s 10 new episodes, there was plenty going on with the show’s other characters, including a shocking twist involving one person in the finale’s final moments.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Virgin River Season 6.] What happened to Charmaine (Lauren Hammersley)?! That’s one of the cliffhangers that Virgin River left us with at the end of Season 6, now streaming on Netflix. A lot happened in the final episode of the season, including Mike (Marco Grazzini) shockingly proposing to Brie (Zibby Allen) even though he knows about her hookup with Brady (Benjamin Hollingsworth). But what had Mel (Alexandra Breckenridge) and Jack’s (Martin Henderson) attention the day after their wedding was the fact that Charmaine was Mia from the ceremony. And so Jack headed over to her house to see what was going on, only to find the door open, signs of a struggle, and something that shocked him in the nursery. The good news? What showrunner Patrick Sean Smith told TV Insider about that cliffhanger. “I would say the twins are safe. I would be concerned about Charmaine,” he admitted. “I...

In the Virgin River season 6 finale, Mel and Jack's wedding day has finally arrived, and they run away from their own wedding! The couple rides off on Sugar and finds a moment of solace together in one of the first places Jack took Mel when they met. Before swapping vows, Mel shares her fears about the past and the future with Jack. It's the breather they needed before starting forever.
When they return, the wedding goes off without a hitch — or with one, as the running joke goes. Jack surprises Mel by changing out of his tux and into his Marines uniform. The surprises aren't over yet for the happy couple, though. Doc schemed to have Everett make it to the wedding to perform the now completed song he wrote for her mother. Peaceful small town though it may seem from afar, “Virgin River” always packs in the drama. Each new episode brings emotional revelations and monumental moments for your favorite (or least favorite) residents and Season 5 was no different. In fact, with two parts and 12 episodes, it had even more room for life-changing events and gasp-worthy twists. So if you need a refresher, here’s a complete breakdown to recap “Virgin River” Season 5 in a hurry.
Netflix Doc and Hope Stayed Strong Through Health Struggles
Doc (Tim Matheson) and Hope (Annette O’Toole) spent much of the season navigating their relationship and careers through health challenges. Doc grappled with his deteriorating eyesight, which threatened to end his medical career — especially after Cameron (Mark Ghanime) clocked him struggling on the job. Hope continued to recover from her brain injury, and nearly lost her position as Mayor after Muriel (Teryl Rothery) brought a vote of no-confidence against her.

Please welcome Mr. and Mrs. Sheridan to the dance floor!
In the Virgin River Season 6 finale, everyone’s favorite restaurateur Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson) and nurse practitioner Melinda Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge) finally say “I do” at a grand wedding fit for the whole town — and that’s after they say private vows to each other at a secluded spot by the river. Basically, it’s two weddings in one.
It’s only fitting that the couple, who’ve been engaged since Season 4, get such a to-do — after all, we’ve spent six seasons watching them fall deeper in love. But now might be the time for even more of Mel and Jack’s dreams to come true, as a pathway to parenthood potentially reopens thanks to an expectant mother in town.
Also in Season 6, Jack’s lawyer sister, Brie (Zibby Allen), defends Jack’s best friend, Preacher (Colin Lawrence), in...

Netflix is headed back to Virgin River, and we have questions. Season 5 of the romantic drama ended with Mel connecting with her biological father, firefighters discovering Wes’ body in the woods, and the revelation that Lark was keeping a big secret from Brady regarding her connection with his former nemesis, Jimmy. How will the show resolve those and other plot points? We’ll have to wait and see, but these are the biggest questions we’re eager to get answers to in Virgin River Season 6.
Will Mel and Jack get married?
Mel (Alexandra Breckenridge) and Jack (Martin Henderson) have been through the wringer as a couple, and Virgin River fans are eager to see the pair get the happy ending they deserve (especially after Mel’s devastating miscarriage in season 5). Netflix has been teasing their wedding in season 6, even setting up a wedding website for the couple. We’re fairly...

She’s between boys. They cook for her, I feel,” she says with a smirk. When she steps out into the backyard, Allen reveals her hopes for a backyard barbecue in Season 7. Netflix sure is milking Mel & Jack’s upcoming nuptials in its promo campaign for Season 6, set against the backdrop of the couple’s spring wedding season. After the first teaser, which largely recapped the duo’s love story over the first five seasons, ended with a glimpse at the bottom of Mel’s wedding dress, the full trailer released today features footage from the new season but even less of Mel’s gown, with an over-the-shoulder shot as the only peek.
The mystery carries over to the key art, also released today, which provides the best shot so far at the wedding dress, with the long veil, blown by the wind, strategically blocking full view. (See it below)

Ahead of the premiere of Virgin River’s sixth season, the drama has already scored a renewal at Netflix.
The cast announced on Instagram on Wednesday that the show has been renewed for season seven, which will consist of 10 one-hour episodes. Patrick Sean Smith (Greek, Chasing Life) will also return as showrunner and executive producer.
Virgin River, based on author Robyn Carr’s book series of the same name, follows nurse practitioner Mel (Alexandra Breckenridge) who moves from Los Angeles to a remote Northern California town seeking a fresh start. But she quickly learns that small-town living isn’t quite as simple as she expected and that she must heal herself before she can truly make Virgin River her home.
The renewal puts Virgin River in a very select club of Netflix original series that have (or will) run for at least seven seasons. Among the streamer’s dozens of scripted shows aimed at adults,...

As they are preparing for a wedding, Virgin River fans will also get a honeymoon. Ahead of the December 19 release of Season 6, which culminates with the long-awaited Jack & Mel nuptials, Netflix has renewed the popular romantic drama for a seventh season. Like Season 6 (as well as Seasons 1-3), it will consist of 10 episodes.
With the early renewal, Virgin River becomes Netflix’s longest-running current original scripted series as well as the longest-running English-language drama series in the streamer’s history. Its seven-season run to date matches that of comedy Grace and Frankie and comedy-drama Orange Is the New Black, which was designated as a comedy for its first couple of seasons before switching to drama consideration. Virgin River has now eclipsed such Netflix staples as House of Cards and The Crown, which ran for six seasons each, with only the Spanish teen drama Elite ahead of it in number of...

Christmas is coming early for Virgin River fans. Season 6 of the romantic Netflix drama returns on Dec. 19.
The upcoming episodes will pick up after the events of the 2023 holiday special, where Mel (Alexandra Breckenridge) discovered a shocking truth about her mom’s past. Just-released photos from the new season confirm that we’ll see younger versions of Mel’s mom and dad in flashbacks in season 6. Meanwhile, in the present day, we’ll check in with Preacher (Colin Lawrence), a very pregnant Lizzie (Sarah Dugdale), Brady (Ben Hollingsworth), and, of course, Mel and Jack (Martin Henderson), who are preparing for their wedding.

Just in time for Christmas — the sixth season of Virgin River is set to premiere Dec. 19. And it’s not one of those half-season drops that Netflix has been doing a lot of lately — all 10 episodes of Season 6 will be available that day.
That is slightly ahead of schedule — Netflix at the start of February unveiled its 2024 original slate, and Virgin River, along with a slew of other fan favorites, like Stranger Things, Ginny & Georgia and Wednesday, were not on the list, pointing to a 2025 return.
However, nothing is set in stone — Virgin River is the second series originally eyed for 2025 that will be back sooner than anticipated. The other is The Lincoln Lawyer, whose third season was delivered early and will debute Oct. 17.
Meanwhile, a series that was on Netflix’s 2024 release list, Season 2 of breakout hit The Night Agent, is yet to get a premiere date.

Exclusive: As Deadline reported exclusively in February, the upcoming sixth season of Netflix’s Virgin River, which focuses on Mel (Alexandra Breckenridge) and Jack’s (Martin Henderson) nuptials, will also feature Mel’s late mother Sarah and biological father, Everett, in flashbacks. We can now reveal that Jessica Rothe and Callum Kerr have been cast in the roles and offer first-look images of them as Sarah and Everett in Season 6.
The recurring characters are being introduced as Netflix is exploring an expansion of the Virgin River universe with a prequel following Sarah and Everett’s origin story.
Seen in flashbacks mostly set in or around 1972, Sarah (Rothe) is a witty, free spirit from the big city with an ardent passion for activism, and trying to avoid the conventional/traditional life of a young woman in the ’70s. Always up for an adventure,...

Virgin River Season 6 is on the horizon, and Benjamin Hollingsworth is giving fans some major tidbits to hold us all over until the show returns. The highly-anticipated sixth season, which is filming now, will be getting steamy. “We were read the riot act by Netflix about spoilers. I think I can say that we’ve definitely turned up the heat in Season 6,” Hollingsworth tells TV Insider. “I think all characters can fall under this umbrella. After watching Season 6, you might need a cold shower. I can say that without giving too much away.” The actor, who plays the brooding Brady, also reveals that there will be even “more Mel and Jack” in the upcoming season. “I’m going to cryptically say this: I think people will be very happy with how the show is returning to its roots of the relationship-driven show,” Hollingsworth adds. But what about Brie (Zibby Allen) and Brady?...

Mild spoilers are ahead for Virgin River season 5, part 2.
Some of Virgin River's pairings seem built to last, while others are threatened by dark secrets. [This story contains major spoilers from season five, parts one and two, of Virgin River.]
Following a dramatic and intense season five of Netflix’s Virgin River, Alexandra Breckenridge was more than excited to take on the light-hearted holiday episodes that close out the two-part season.
This 12-episode season — which released its first 10 episodes on Sept. 7 — saw new relationships forming for several characters, Brady (Benjamin Hollingsworth) and Brie’s (Zibby Allen) shocking breakup, a wildfire that threatened the entire town, Brie’s difficult court trial for her sexual assault case and Jack (Martin Henderson) finding out his business is at the center of an illegal drug business.
But Breckenridge’s character Mel faced her own battles, including the emotional toll of suffering a miscarriage, which she says was “really difficult” and “very draining” to film.
Then, to add to the drama, Mel finds out in the part one finale that her biological father lives in Virgin River, of all places. Breckenridge recalled talking...

Just like family! Virgin River Season 5 recently dropped on Netflix, and the new episodes had us wondering if the cast is as close in real life as they are on screen. Well, when it comes to series stars Alexandra Breckenridge and Martin Henderson, the answer is yes.
Alexandra Breckenridge and Martin Henderson are friends in real life
Breckenridge and Henderson play fan-favorite couple Mel Monroe and Jack Sheridan in Virgin River. While the pair have a serious romance on-screen, in real life, the two actors are not a couple. However, they are good friends.
“I’m really good friends with Zibby Allen [who plays Jack’s sister Brie Sheridan], and Martin [Henderson],” Breckenridge revealed in an interview with The List. “Those are my two closest. They’re my friends; they’re my people.”
It’s not unusual for Henderson to share videos of himself and Breckenridge goofing around on set on Instagram. He’s also called his Virgin River...

That was a twist we didn’t see coming. Virgin River Season 5 ended on a major cliffhanger with the unexpected reappearance of a character everyone assumed was dead. His jaw-dropping reappearance is sure to change things for everyone in Virgin River. But one character in particular has reason to be wary of his return.

Who is Calvin on ‘Virgin River’?
The latest Virgin River shocker came at the end of season 5’s 10th episode. A very pregnant Charmaine (Lauren Hammersley) was attending the town’s Labor Day festival. As she was leaving the event, a man approached her.
“I thought you were dead,” she says as we see that the strange man is Calvin (David Cubitt).
“Yeah, so did the person who tried to kill me,” he replies. “I don’t have to hide from her anymore.”
Calvin, in case you forgot, was Virgin River’s resident drug kingpin.

An idyllic setting, charming cast, and sweet love story are often the ingredients needed for a good comfort watch. The desire to escape everyday pressures since the pandemic has seen viewers like myself going back to old favorites such as Gilmore Girls or finding something newer like Virgin River, currently streaming its fifth season on Netflix.
With each season reaching Netflix’s top ten, Virgin River has capitalized on fan’s love of Robyn Carr’s 21-book-long series of the same name and our increasing impulse to find new shows that don’t require too much of our attention. Virgin River is precisely that as it lacks terror-inducing Jaws music and instead provides Hallmark-esque vibes with the added dash of danger from the illegal drug trade surrounding the town.

Spoiler Alert: The story includes details about Episodes 505 and 506 of Netflix’s Virgin River.
Virgin River‘s seasons are typically built around three tentpoles, the season premiere, the finale and a big event episode in the middle that propels the storytelling with plenty of aftermath to deal with in the remaining episodes. Big town events in the mid-run episodes have included the Moonlight Mingle dance in Season 1, the Lumberjack Games in Season 3 and the Renaissance Fair in Season 4. In Season 5, which marked the first for the hit Netflix series with new showrunner Patrick Sean Smith at the helm, a wildfire threatening the town of Virgin River. Because of the scope, it took two episodes — 5 and 6 — to deal with the natural disaster and its immediate aftermath.
During the episodes, still reeling from being ousted as the town’s mayor, Hope (Annette O’Toole) rises to the challenge and leads the evacuation efforts.

Changes are coming to Virgin River, and some of them are surprising.
Most of Virgin River Season 5 Episode 1 caught us up with where things left off during Virgin River Season 4 Episode 10 and eased us into some of the new conflicts and plots we can expect for the season.
One of the most prominent takeaways from the premiere is that Melissa Montgomery is here to disrupt Virgin River's quiet world and all the people within it.
If the hour didn't set anything else up, they touched on how many conflicts would arise because of Melissa's plans and actions and, sadly, because of how Brady and others may get tangled up in her web.
We also saw some new faces arriving, familiar ones departing, and some shake-ups.
Surprisingly, we breezed past those tense final moments of the season four finale that saw Jack learning the shocking truth that he was not the twins' father.
