Mexican film director Alejandro Zuno graduated from the prestigious Film School of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM).
Newborn, his first feature film, premiered as part of the Official Selection at Mar del Plata International Film Festival in Argentina. He is one of the directors of The Secret of the River, the popular Netflix TV series which topped the Top 10 in Mexico for five weeks. With Ernesto Contreras, Zuno directed Tengo que morir todas las noches, the first LGBTQIA+ Mexican TV series and winner of the Best Direction Prize at Series Mania.
In 2020 his film Open the Earth was nominated for the Mexican Academy Award Ariel as Best Documentary Short. This film won the major prizes at Shorts Mexico and Literally Short Film Festival among others. In 2018 he won the Ariel for Best Live Action Short Film with Oasis, which also won other prizes and it was part of the Official Selection at more than 20 film festivals around the world.
