Peter Devonald is a multi award-winning scriptwriter and producer,
operating in both the creative and corporate fields. His intelligent,
tightly-structured writing has underpinned short films, features,
television and online series.
His work has shown in over 90 film festivals, including in competition at Venice, Angers Premiers Plans, Encounters, Foyle, L.A and BFI London. Awards include a Bafta nomination, Best Drama at New York, Jury Prize and Best Short Wood Green Festival, Virgin Media Finalist (screened in 212 cinemas for a year and still available on V+ box/Virgin Media 2013), 'Cutting Hedge' best film Branchage, Best Director Kharkov Lilac (Ukraine) and Best Film Kyiv Molodist.
Peter was the senior judge and mentor for the Peter Ustinov Award (iemmys, New York, 2003-2006). He was also one of the writers on 'Those Scurvy Rascals' (Entara Ltd/ Blue-Zoo) which was Bafta nominated in 2006, and winner of best Children's Series and the Children's Choice Award at the 10th British Animation Awards. 'The Cherub House', a feature film, was optioned by Not A Number Productions, and 'Guy's Requiem' is an on-going commissioned feature. He was also chair of Reel Islington (2009-2011) and continues on the committee (2011-2013).
