There are a lot of Americans who are fearing the next two weeks, and Shark Tank could ease their fears. The United States government has said it will ban TikTok since it believes the Chinese company that owns it will share Americans’ personal information with the Chinese government. The same feelings are not shared with American companies like X, which could also share people’s personal information with the U.S. government.
However, there is one person who believes he can save TikTok. It is a Shark Tank star, and he has a plan.
Why Does the United States Want to Ban TikTok?
For the past few years, TikTok has become the best social media platform on the planet. In 2024, Facebook still reigned supreme with 3.1 billion active users, followed by YouTube with 2.5 billion. TikTok ranks below WhatsApp and Instagram with 1.6 billion users.

Fox News has long entrenched itself as a pro-Donald Trump propaganda network dedicated to broadcasting, defending, and justifying the words and actions of the president-elect and his cronies. While Trump and Fox News regularly critique the “mainstream media” as corrupt, biased ideologues, the network itself is no stranger to bending the rules of ethics to suit their own political project.

Some of the nation’s biggest TV anchors saw the plans they had for Election Night change almost as soon as the first exit polls came in.
Early preparations for election coverage had called for hours and hours spent on sifting through what was supposed to be a neck-and-neck race. Instead former President Donald Trump quickly emerged as president-elect Donald Trump, while Vice President Kamala Harris’ supposed foundations among “Blue Wall” states like Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania crumbled throughout the evening.
The biggest audience tuned in to Fox News Channel, according to early Nielsen estimates that may change later in the day, followed by ABC News, and then MSNBC. From the late afternoon to the wee hours of the morning, the anchors had to keep level heads, and wait for the actual figures to come in before they could tell the full story.

TV viewing on election night dropped off considerably from four years ago.
Primetime coverage of the presidential election averaged 42.29 million viewers across 18 cable and broadcast networks from 7-11 p.m. Et, according to final same-day ratings from Nielsen. That’s a steep, 26 percent decline from four years ago, which drew 56.92 million viewers, and the least watched election night since the ratings service began keeping total viewer tallies in 2000.
Nielsen also says 22.6 percent of TV households (28.45 million) watched election coverage Tuesday, the lowest percentage ever dating to 1960. Donald Trump was elected to his second term, with most news outlets calling the race early Wednesday morning.

If there is one overarching theme of the best-laid plans by TV news organizations for covering the 2024 election night, it is “transparency.”
Wary of what happened four years ago, it seems that every channel is gaming out how best to not only show the numbers, but how the numbers came to be, what they really mean, and why they matter.
In a world where one call by a TV channel can throw a campaign into chaos, everyone involved seems to understand how high the stakes are.
The early Arizona call made by Fox News and the Associated Press in 2020 still looms large in newsrooms. Both parties, of course, ultimately stood by their call, and they were vindicated in the end, but according to executives and on-air talent at multiple TV networks that spoke with The Hollywood Reporter, the lessons of that call are still being felt.

Election Day is here, and the major news networks are prepared for a long night — and potentially a long week.
With over 50 million people early voting in the 2024 Presidential Election, Tuesday night will offer plenty of results to thumb through even if an ultimate winner isn’t called until later in the week, and most of the news networks will kick off their election night coverage at 6 p.m. Et, with CNN even starting at 12 a.m. Et while NBC News begins at 5 p.m. Et.
MSNBC’s Steve Kornacki will return to the Big Board — and will even be livestreamed on Peacock and other social platforms — while Fox News will see Bill Hemmer steering the “Bill”-board.
Most networks have scheduled eight hours of election night programming from 6 p.m. Et to 2 a.m. Et, with a result for the presidential showdown between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump not expected immediately.

Donald Trump once again turned down an offer to debate Kamala Harris for a second time this week, this time from Fox News, and Jimmy Fallon joked that the rejection was so devastating, that they renamed “Fox & Friends.”
Initially, CNN offered to host the second debate, but when Trump said no, Fox News swooped in to also offer. Their debate would’ve taken place at the end of this month, moderated by Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum. Still, Trump immediately said no, having said last month that if he were to do a second debate, he specifically wouldn’t want them moderating.
And Fallon is pretty sure the network is taking it a little personally.
“Fox was upset. They changed the name of their morning show to ‘Fox & I Thought We Were Friends,'” Fallon joked on “The Tonight Show.”

Donald Trump reiterated this evening that he will not do another presidential debate with Kamala Harris, after CNN set a Thursday deadline for their proposed event and Fox News offered the candidates two other options.
“It is very late in the process, voting has already begun — there will be no rematch!” Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social.
Last month, his rival Kamala Harris accepted a CNN proposal for an Oct. 23 debate, but he declined, saying the date was too late in the process. The network set a deadline of Thursday for a formal response from the campaigns.
Earlier today, Fox News sent both campaigns letters proposing a debate in Pennsylvania on either October 24 or October 27, with Martha MacCallum and Bret Baier as co-moderators.

Donald Trump announced in September that he will not sign up for another debate with Kamala Harris, but there are some pundits who suspect it may still happen before the 2024 presidential election. The latest update is this: Fox News, a network Trump has long shown a preference for, has once again proposed to the parties that it could host a second debate between them. This time, the proposal is for the debate to take place in Pennsylvania on October 24 or 27, with Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum as moderators. It remains to be seen whether Harris or Trump will accept this new pitch from the network. Donald Trump announced his disinterest in another debate immediately after their September showdown. In a post to his social media website, Trump wrote that his reasoning for declining a second debate with the vice president is because he believes he “won” the debate against her.

In the following 24 hours, nearly half a million people visited Vote.gov, the official government website where United States citizens can register to vote (learn more on how to register here).
As reported by Elizabeth Wagmeister (a CNN entertainment correspondent) and Betsy Klein (CNN’s Senior White House Producer), 405,999 people were referred to Vote.gov directly from Swift’s Instagram page. Such a number dwarfs the website’s usual traffic, which averages about 30,000 visitors per day.

Donald Trump had a lot of things he wanted to get off his chest on Thursday night (August 22) following Vice President Kamala Harris‘ speech at the Democratic National Convention. The former president called into Fox News after the conclusion of Night 4 of the DNC, which took place at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois. However, Trump’s comments were cut short when hosts Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum had to hang up so they could throw to the live edition of Gutfeld! Before he was cut off, Trump claimed Harris gave “a tax increase of four to five times what people and companies and paying right now,” all the while being interrupted by dial tones, seemingly caused by someone pressing buttons on his phone. MacCallum tried to keep Trump on topic, asking his strategy for rebuilding momentum amid Harris’ rising popularity, particularly as “she’s trying to pull the youth vote,...

Donald Trump lasted about two minutes into Vice President Kamala Harris’ nomination acceptance speech before launching into a full-blown public unraveling.
Moments after Harris took the stage Thursday at the Democratic National Convention, it became clear that the former president — and her 2024 opponent — was glued to the television in a hate-watch for the ages.
“Here she comes into the Arena,” was the first of around furious 50 posts in a Truth Social meltdown that began when Harris entered the United Center in Chicago, Illinois, and continued long after she left the stage.

On the first day of the Democratic National Convention, there was a display of energy and optimism over the course correction, even if the proceedings itself have had to grapple with a crush of attendees, long security lines and an overly packed lineup that resulted in President Joe Biden getting pushed out of primetime.
Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-md), who got one of the choice earlier speaking slots, was unfazed as he walked out of the United Center just after 11 p.m.
“What a night,” he told Deadline. “I couldn’t imagine it going any better.”
Privately, some Hollywood boosters wondered if the first night would have been better had an hour been shaved off the lineup — a message that seems to have gotten through to the convention planners, who were making adjustments today.

Former President Barack Obama, former First Lady Michelle Obama and Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff are among the speakers scheduled for the second night of the Democratic National Convention, while organizers are pledging changes to try to prevent delays.
The first night’s lineup ran into delays, to the point that President Joe Biden’s speech got pushed out of primetime on the East Coast, and finished after that key time period in the Central time zone. The delays occurred even as some parts of the lineup, including a performance by James Taylor, were scrapped.
Alex Hornbrook executive director of the Democratic National Convention Committee, said that they made “some real-time schedule adjustments last night” and that they were making some “other adjustments this evening, including beginning at 5:30 to make sure that we stay on track for that tonight.”

Fox News was the most watched network for the Republican National Convention last month, drawing an overwhelming share of the viewers throughout the week, including an average of 9.43 million on the final night.
The question is whether the Democratic National Convention will be a far different story — a big if given that leaders in the party have at times chided or shunned the network.
That said, figures such as Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg and Sen. Chris Coons (D-de) have made recent appearances, while Kamala Harris’ campaign announced over the weekend that part of a mega ad buy would be on the network’s daytime programming, “particularly during day-time programming which reaches a more moderate audience.”

Vance has further called for his challenger to accept an offer to participate in a second vice presidential debate that would air in early September on CNN. Donald Trump has backed out of his previously scheduled presidential debate on Sept. 10 on ABC News.
Instead, the former president shared on Truth Social early Saturday morning that he has agreed to debate Kamala Harris on Fox News on Sept. 4.
In his post, he wrote, “The Debate was previously scheduled against Sleepy Joe Biden on ABC, but has been terminated in that Biden will no longer be a participant, and I am in litigation against ABC Network and George Slopadopoulos, thereby creating a conflict of interest.”
Trump agreed to the original debate on the network two months after he filed his suit against ABC News, and George Stephanopoulos was never set to moderate it.

Weeks after Donald Trump backed out of a scheduled Sept. 10 debate, the former president proposed a televised face-off against Kamala Harris, but under his own terms.
In a Truth Social post, Trump offered to debate Harris but with a change of date — Sept. 4 — as well as a change in televised venue, insisting on the much-friendlier (for him) confines of Fox News instead of ABC, which was to host the planned Sept. 10 debate.

Former President Donald Trump said he would no longer take part in a planned debate between presidential candidates that had been slated for Sept. 10 on ABC, and instead pitched the concept of a new stand-off hosted by Fox News Channel on Sept. 4.
The ABC debate had been agreed to by both the Trump campaign and the campaign for President Joe Biden. Biden exited the 2024 presidential race in July, and Vice President Kamala Harris is now the Democratic nominee. She had committed to keep the ABC debate in place. The event was to have been moderated by David Muir and Linsey Davis.

Executives at Fox News Media have sent letters to campaign representatives for Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump asking for the two presidential candidates to participate in a televised debate in September.
The letters, penned by Fox News Media President and Executive Editor Jay Wallace and Vice President of Politics Jessica Loker, were sent to Trump campaign co-chairpersons Susie Wiles and Chris Lacivita and Harris campaign chairperson Jennifer O’Malley Dillon on Tuesday, according to copies of the notes obtained by The Desk.
The requests amend one made earlier this year, in which Fox News sought to host a vice presidential debate between Harris and Trump’s running mate, whom Trump named as Senator J. D. Vance after accepting the Republican nominee for president last week.

Fox News has sent letters to the Donald Trump and Kamala Harris ampaigns proposing a presidential debate for September 17 in Pennsylvania.
“We are open to a discussion on the exact date, format and location — with or without an audience,” Jay Wallace, Executive Editor of Fox News Media, and VP Politics Jessica Loker wrote in the letters to both campaigns.
They also recommended Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum to moderate the debate.
Trump and then-candidate Joe Biden had agreed to two debates: the CNN event on June 27 and an ABC News-sponsored debate on September 10. The status of the latter debate is unclear, as Trump recently has bashed ABC News and anchor George Stephanopoulos. The ABC News event was to be moderated by David Muir and Linsey Davis.

Fox News has proposed a new Sept. 17 debate to the presidential campaigns of Donald Trump and Kamala Harris, a sign that TV networks see new opportunity amid a chaotic run for the White House and a desire by both sides to skip around the traditions that have been set in place in the past by the Commission on Presidential Debates.
In letters to the Harris and Trump campaigns, Jay Wallace, the president and executive editor of Fox News Media, proposed a debate moderated by Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum, two veterans who typically lead the cable-network’s coverage of elections and top political moments. The event would take place in Pennsylvania.
“We are open to discussion on the exact date, format and location — with or without an audience,” Wallace said. The letters to campaign officials contained statistics on Fox News’ reach among independent voters in swing states.

The Fox News Channel scored the highest ratings of any broadcast or cable network for its multi-night coverage of the 2024 Republican National Convention (RNC) in Milwaukee, according to data from Nielsen.
More than 10.3 million people tuned in to watch former President Donald Trump accept the Republican nomination, marking the highest program of the year and outpacing CNN’s presidential debate in June, the network said in a press release. Of those that watched, 2.1 million were in the key demographic of adults ages 25 to 54 years old (A25-54), the group most-attractive to cable news advertisers. The figures included the Fox News broadcast and a simulcast on Fox Business Network.

Biden Decision Surprised Most TV News Networks: How CBS, MSNBC and More Scrambled to Cover Bombshell
Many of them knew it was coming, but not exactly when.
The nation’s big TV-news outlets appear to have been caught flat-footed by President Joe Biden’s Sunday announcement that he would end his 2024 campaign for the White House, with many top anchors not visible on screen in the minutes after the president dropped his bombshell.
Broadcast networks fielded faces that were not as familiar. CBS News broke into programming at 2:02 p.m. with coverage lead by Kristine Johnson, an anchor at Wcbs, the company’s New York station, suggesting Norah O’Donnell, Margaret Brennan or Major Garrett were not immediately available (O’Donnell and Brennan joined about 45 minutes later). NBC News put up a special report 30 seconds later anchored by Hallie Jackson, who was recently named to lead weekend broadcasts of “NBC Nightly News.” ABC News broke in at 2:04 p.m. with coverage led by Rachel Scott, its senior congressional correspondent.

Scott MacFarlane, the CBS News correspondent, wasn’t quite sure what was going on Saturday night. He was covering former President Donald Trump’s rally in western Pennsylvania when he heard noises that reminded him of firecrackers. They were gunshots.
Suddenly, MacFarlane realized he was in potential danger — and a nearby rival was trying to keep him safe.
“Rachel Scott pulled me down,” says MacFarlane, referring to the ABC News veteran. She “grabbed me by the arm, told me to get beneath the bleachers.” On Sunday morning, MacFarlane tells Variety, “I gave her a big hug.”
As TV news outlets try to pivot from one of the rarest of events — an assassination attempt on a former U.S. president — to coverage of the Republican National Convention, such goodwill may be in short supply. MacFarlane, who has remained in Pennsylvania to cover some of the investigation into what has been described...
