Exclusive: Filming is underway on long-gestating European thriller series The Kollective (6 x 60′), which we can reveal will star Natascha McElhone (Californication), Celine Buckens (Showtrial), Felix Mayr (Unorthodox), Gregg Sulkin (Marvel’s Runaways), Grégory Montel (Call My Agent), Karel Roden (A Spy Amongst Friends), Cassiopée Mayance (The Clearstream Affair), Martha Canga Antonio (Lupin) and Ralph Amoussou (Transatlantic).

Produced by Submarine (Apollo 10 ½) and created by Leonardo Fasoli (Gomorrah), Maddalena Ravagli (Gomorrah) and Submarine’s Femke Wolting, the series was commissioned by The European Alliance and will be distributed worldwide by A+E Media Group, with Hulu coming aboard for U.S. distribution.

Inspired by the investigative journalist group Bellingcat, the series will span Europe from Budapest and St. Petersburg in the East to London in the West. It will follow a group of intrepid young citizen journalists who, after a sudden tragedy, find themselves sucked into a web of government lies and corruption.

Ralph Amoussou has had memorable roles in several projects over the last few years.

The actor recently got his first major U.S. role in Netflix's Transatlantic, a limited series focusing on an American journalist who arranged safe passage to the U.S. for over 2000 refugees.

Ralph tells TV Fanatic he was interested in playing Paul Kadjo in the series because it told a war story from a very different viewpoint.

He found it "gratifying" because one of the recurring themes is "solidarity" because the people being transported out of Marseille need a hero and they got one.

Ralph says that saving lives is very important, and the series captures the beginnings of the Erc, which ultimately became the International Rescue Committee.

"They are ordinary people trying to get together to do extraordinary things," he revealed.

TV shows and movies inspired by real-life events tend to overstate the truth for dramatic effect. Netflix’s Transatlantic is a rare case of underplaying history — in this case, the work of Varian Fry, Mary Jayne Gold, and the rest of the European Rescue Committee, who worked to get Jewish refugees safely out of Europe in the early days of World War II.

In reality, Fry, a journalist, and Gold, an heiress, helped the Erc smuggle more than 2,000 refugees — many of them great artists and intellectuals like Marc Chagall and Hannah Arendt — out of France.

Transatlantic is a series created by Anna Winger starring Gillian Jacobs, Cory Michael Smith and Yoli Fuller. It is based on the novel by Julie Orringer.

Without dramatisms, with a wide range of complex secondary plots, aesthetically cared for, with meticulous production and, yes, a light comedy tone from the 30’s that might put some viewers off.

That hasn’t been the case with us, because we find it to be a delightful series.

It is easy to watch and to savor in every shot. A series that aesthetically looks like a movie, that shows the loving care put into the production and, finally, the desire to make “a great series”. Of course, this “great series” does not receive this treatment with respect to the script and does not want to become the neo-noir epic that some will surely ask for. Netflix’s new limited series Transatlantic is the inversion of the streamer’s recent Elvis-as-animated-spy comedy Agent Elvis.

With Agent Elvis, it was: Come for the silly premise, genre hijinks and a lovable (thoroughly historically accurate) masturbating chimpanzee, stay for the surprisingly well-researched exploration of 1960s and ’70s esoterica.

With Transatlantic, I came for what is a spectacular, perhaps under-known corner of history, with tendrils into 1930s and ’40s European cultural esoterica, and I was left with genre hijinks, surrealist wackiness and a lovable (thoroughly historically accurate) dog.

Take that as you will.

If Transatlantic arrived on Netflix with a guarantee that every viewer who tuned in would promptly go and learn more about the story of Varian Fry, Mary Jayne Gold and the Villa Air-Bel, I would give it a strong recommendation.

Have A Good One (Hago) has boarded “Split,” a series created and directed by well-respected French feminist author Iris Brey ahead of its world premiere in competition at Series Mania Festival.

“Split” was produced by Fabienne Servan-Schreiber et Charlotte Ortiz at Paris-based Cinétévé for the French broadcaster France Televisions’ digital platform Slash.

The show revolves around Anna, a 30 year-old stuntwoman who falls in love with a famous actress during a film shoot. The attractive cast includes Alma Jodorowsky (“The Serpent”), Jehnny Beth, Ralph Amoussou, and Pauline Chalamet.

Hago is also attending Series Mania with “Sex (re) Education” (“Septième Ciel”) and will be pitching the show at the Coming Next from France session.

The series, produced by Henri Debeurme and Aurélia Grossmann’s Next Episode, was awarded best TV series at the Fiction Festival of La Rochelle last year. It premiered on Ocs in January and pulled some of the pay TV channel’s highest ratings.

“Community’s” Gillian Jacobs and “Call My Agent” star Gregory Montel are set to appear in a new Netflix series from “Unorthodox” creator Anna Winger.

Joining them are Lucas Englander (“The Witcher”), Cory Michael Smith (“Gotham”), Ralph Amoussou (“Marianne”), Deleila Piasko (“Boys Are Us”), Amit Rahav (“Unorthodox”) and Corey Stoll (“Billions”).

The series, titled “Transatlantic,” tells the true story of the Emergency Rescue Committee during the Second World War, which helped thousands of refugees escape Nazi-occupied France. Among them were dozens of well known artists and creatives.

Varian Fry and Mary Jayne Gold, who led the rescue, soon find themselves hiding out in a French villa with their fellow committee members and celebrity evacuees, where artistic – and passionate – partnerships soon take center stage.

Production has started in Marseilles with the series set to be shot in English, German, and French.

Gotham alum Cory Michael Smith, Gillian Jacobs (Community) and Corey Stoll (Billions) are set as the leads of Netflix’s Transatlantic, a limited series set during the 1940 refugee crisis in Marseille, France. Call My Agent star Grégory Montel, Lucas Englander (Bridge of Spies), Ralph Amoussou (Missions) Deleila Piasko (Boys Are Us) and Amit Rahhav (Unorthodox) round out the international cast of the series, from Unorthodox creator Anna Winger and her Airlift Productions.

This marks the first project under Winger’s multi-year deal with Netflix announced last year, under which Winger and Airlift develop and produce international drama series for the streamer. Pathé (“Coda”) has set the release dates in Switzerland and France for “The Three Musketeers – D’Artagnan” and “The Three Musketeers – Milady,” the anticipated $85 million two-part saga based on Alexandre Dumas’ masterpiece.

Directed by Martin Bourboulon, the movies are produced by Dimitri Rassam’s banner Chapter 2 and Ardavan Safaee at Pathé. They are based on a script by Matthieu Delaporte and Alexandre de la Patellière (“What’s in the Name?”). “The Three Musketeers – D’Artagnan” will be released in France and Switzerland on April 5, 2023, while “The Three Musketeers – Milady” will be released 8 months later, on Dec. 13., 2023.
