Attempted sequels would have answered mysteries about Snow White, the dwarfs, and the Evil Queen. Snow White's prequel explored the dwarfs' and the Evil Queen's backstories but was never made. Snow White's canceled sequel short, Snow White Returns, showed her returning to the dwarfs' home.
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is the movie that started Disney’s reign in the world of animation, and it almost expanded with two movies that would have solved three big mysteries about the main characters. In 1937, Walt Disney Pictures brought Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, the first cel-animated feature film and the first animated movie produced in the United States. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs quickly earned a place in animation history, and it set the example for subsequent Disney animated movies, particularly those starring female characters.

In the ’50s and ’60s, the Ussr frequently used dogs for orbital space flights in order to determine whether human spaceflight was possible. If you ever wanted to see a cute animated version of their exploits, look no further than “Space Dogs: Adventure to the Moon,” the sequel to the global hit “Space Dogs 3D.” The film follows Pushok (Samuel Witwer), a teenage astronaut determined to find his missing astronaut father. Pushok stows away on a Us rocket ship to the moon, but soon finds he is not alone, as he’s reunited with his mom and encounters a macho monkey and a baby alien. Together, the furry heroes learn the true meaning of teamwork as they join the search for Pushok’s dad. Starring Alicia Silverstone and Ashlee Simpson as Belka and Strelka, the first dogs in space, “Space Dogs: Adventure to the Moon” is a fun,...

Mike Disa's entertaining Postman Pat: The Movie is based on a long-running stop-motion BBC children's series which is hugely popular in the U.K. but has never quite made a dent in America, possibly because it's deeply British.
That Britishness hasn't been toned down for the domestic release of the feature film, including borderline ethnic jokes about the Irish and Scottish, and that's a good thing.
The setup is fairly standard: When Pat (Stephen Mangan) fails to receive the bonus he was going to use to take wife Sara (Susan Duerden) on an Italian vacation, he auditions for a Britain's Got Talent–type show, unexpectedly becoming a national celebrity and Losing Sight of the Things That Really Matter.

Pat Clifton, the humble and dedicated postman who's been the star of his own TV series for more than 30 years, gets his moment to shine on the big screen with the release of Postman Pat: The Movie.
Forget the quaint and low-key adventures of yesteryear, though, this film translation is a multicoloured 3D animation that turns its protagonist into a Paul Potts-type singing sensation via a reality TV show. Unfortunately, much of the parochial charm is lost in a film that lacks the visual and storytelling sophistication of superior toon fare.
If only Aardman was in charge of pulling the strings, Pat and his loyal feline sidekick Jess could have been like Wallace and Gromit for a new generation. As it stands, the...

When adapting a children’s TV show that has an established, expectant audience in already in place, to fully succeed you need to ensure that you remain faithful to the tone and spirit of the much-loved series, and to enlarge cinematically with minimum contrivance. While Postman Pat’s debut on the silver screen may deliver in both aspects, it remains a somewhat alienating production as far as the parents are concerned, with little in here to appease all members of the family.
In Mike Disa’s endeavour, Pat’s journey does feel greater, with more dramatic implications to the narrative, to warrant this big screen release. Pat (Stephen Mangan), along with his trusty pet cat Jess, is determined to take his wife on a holiday to Italy. To raise some funds, he decides to enter into a national talent contest, to show off his unique singing ability, and go head-to-head...

Having spent the last year sat in screening rooms and cinemas watching over 200 of 2011′s cinematic offerings, it stands to reason that I’m going to have to sit through a fair share of duds. As I had seen the vast majority of the key Oscar plays before November, I spent the latter part of the year dedicating myself to seeking out the worst, most lowest common denominator fare ripe for a skewering, and with these twenty dreadful pictures, we have what are, in my opinion, the 20 biggest train wrecks of 2011. Note that Bucky Larson: Born to Be a Star is still awaiting worldwide DVD release and didn’t get distribution in the U.K., so that’s one that I was forced to avoid, but I’m assured that it’s irredeemably horrible nevertheless. Anyway, on with the list…

A First-class cast has been assembled to bring the adventures of children's favourite Postman Pat to the big screen.
Stephen Mangan will voice the character in Postman Pat: The Movie - You Know You're the One, alongside contributions from Harry Potter star Rupert Grint, former Doctor Who David Tennant and Oscar-winner Jim Broadbent.
The 3D animated film will show Pat tempted away from his hometown of Greendale and his cat Jess by the bright lights of fame after he enters a television talent show.
Mangan (pictured right) said: "I'm absolutely thrilled to be playing the world's best-known postman in his big screen debut - he's an iconic British hero and it's a great script. However when I excitedly told my three-year-old son that I was going to be Postman Pat, he said, 'No you're not, dad, don't be silly'."
Rupert Grint added: "I used to watch Postman Pat when I was a small boy.

If I hadn't of missed out on the slate unveiling during the festival, I would have been extremely curious about what the Weinstein Co. had to show for for Jim Field Smith's Butter. With the distribution rights pick-up of The Iron Lady and The Artist, the Weinsteins are now more focused then ever in sticking to what they know best. The distribution and Prod co. had several items that have already been released and are selling, but in the titles that are getting ready for the fall, we look forward the most to Simon Curtis' My Week with Marilyn starring Emma Watson (see above) and Michelle Williams (aka Harvey's new Paltrow) as Monroe. Our Idiot Brother (My Idiot Brother) by Jesse Peretz - Completed Reign Of Assasins by John Woo - Completed The Details by Jacob Aaron Estes - Completed Apollo 18 - Production Butter by Jim Field Smith...

Fast money for a racing movie. Fast Five premiered in the Number One spot at the box office this weekend with $83.6 Million. I do not think anyone was expecting such a large take from Fast Five. It seems Universal Studios was right to prep The Fast and the Furious 6. Rio was Second with $14.4 Million for $103.6 Million so far. Tyler Perry’s Madea’s Big Happy Family was Third with $10 Million. Water for Elephants was Fourth with $9.1 Million. Prom premiered in Fifth with $5 Million. Hoodwinked Too! Hood vs. Evil (which premiered this weekend), Soul Surfer, Insidious, Hop, and Source Code rounded out the top ten respectively.

So it it surprising that a sequel is now hitting theaters. Yet animations are hotter than ever these days; and if a studio slaps the 3D on them, Cha-ching! It would be easy to say that is essentially what “Hoodwinked Too! Hood Vs. Evil” is all about. But the writers...

Hoodwinked Too: Hood vs. Evil
Directed by: Mike Disa
Cast (voices of): Hayden Panettiere, Glenn Close, Patrick Warburton, Amy Poehler, Bill Hader
Running Time: 1 hr 31 mins
Rating: PG
Release Date: April 29, 2011
Plot: Red Riding Hood (Panettiere) is off training, but she’s called back in when Granny (Close) is kidnapped. Now Red and Wolf (Warburton) must find Granny in addition to Hansel (Hader) and Gretel (Poehler).
Who’S It For? If you need to keep the kids busy for 1.5 hours, there could be worse things to do with your time.
Overall
Like most fairy tales, it’s best if we start at the beginning. That means we’re going back to December 2005 when Hoodwinked hit theaters. It was a shockingly low budget, computer animated flick on the heels of Pixar and Shrek. Similar to the green ogre movies, Hoodwinked was tongue-in-cheek toward fairy tale lore. Unlike Shrek it wasn...

So the day has come for you folks to take home Costas Mandylor in the final chapter of the phenomenon that is Saw! Well, at least until the inevitable reboot. Even cooler...if the jolly red-suited fatman brought you a 3D television last month, you can watch this puppy in its gory 3D glory, too.
Another franchise that is buzzing this week is the video game sequel, Dead Space 2. In addition to the game itself, you can also bring home the collector's edition, the album soundtrack, a hardcover game guide, and an animated DVD movie. That should keep you busy for a while.
Oh yeah, there are a couple of other interesting titles with some familiar faces from "True Blood", "Angel", "Buffy", and even "Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman".

"Enter the Void" (2010)

Somehow it's fitting that two of last year's most dangerous films will be hitting DVD shelves the same week, both being favorites of the IFC.com staff. "Dogtooth," Lanthimos' much-debated Un Certain Regard winner from Cannes, concerns the lives of three culturally isolated children -- two daughters and a son, who range from mid-teens to early 20s -- fenced in by their parents' country home, who receive a reeducation when their lone connection to the outside world, a female security guard for their parents' business, introduces them to the joys of sex and Sylvester Stallone films. Meanwhile, "Irreversible" provocateur Noé's latest is a wildly ambitious 155-minute extravaganza set inside the mind of a drug dealer told from the first-person perspective.
