Bryan Fuller’s Hannibal is notoriously dark, gruesome, and violent, exactly what one would expect from a show about a murderous cannibal. This spin-off of Red Dragon’s addition to the Hannibal timeline received critical acclaim and, despite low ratings, was well-loved by fans. Its moody tone, beautiful cinematography, and all-star cast were some of the most appreciated attributes of the series. But what no one talks about is how humorous this gory crime drama could be until its untimely cancelation before Hannibal season 4.
In addition to great murder mysteries, Hannibal offered a colorful selection of quirky characters: Hugh Dancy’s reserved but consistently sassy portrayal of criminal profiler Will Graham, Mads Mikkelsen’s witty and subtle interpretation of Dr. Hannibal Lecter, Raúl Esparza’s extra flamboyant Dr. Frederick Chilton, and more. Each character brings some element of weirdly unexpected humor to Hannibal, and these hysterical moments greatly made the series.

The horror comedy series aired on both USA Network and Syfy. According to Variety’s sources, “There had been discussions of bringing the show back for an abbreviated final season or even a wrap-up film, but ultimately to no avail.”
“I’m heartbroken over the news that ‘Chucky‘ won’t be coming back for a fourth season, but am so grateful for the killer three years we did have,“ series creator Don Mancini said in a statement. “I’d like to thank UCP/Syfy/Peacock/Eat the Cat, our awesome cast and Toronto-based crew (the best in the business), and finally, to our amazing fans, a big bloody hug. "Isla isn't just a gifted child... she's much greater than that." Vertical has revealed an official US trailer for a mysterious religious thriller called The King Tide, set in a struggling East Coast island community. This Canadian indie film first premiered at the 2023 Toronto Film Festival last year, before opening in Canada earlier this year. After the mayor of an idyllic island village discovers a child with mysterious powers awash on their shores, the once peaceful community is divided by conflict, torn over the belief the child is the next savior. Isla's adoptive parents must decide whether her safety takes precedence over what the community believes. The cast features Frances Fisher, Clayne Crawford, Aden Young, Michael Greyeyes, Lara Jean Chorostecki, and Kathryn Greenwood, with Alix West Lefler starring as 10-year-old Isla. TIFF describes it further: "It’s a story about an insular community refusing to accept a much larger world beyond its shores,...

A decade ago, actors Aden Young and Clayne Crawford were pivotal parts of the much-underrated Sundance channel drama series Rectify. The show had a niche fanbase, and I was a part of it. Naturally, when I got the new assignment of writing about the Canadian film The King Tide, a new film starring both Young and Crawford, I was overjoyed. And the film just happens to carry the same moody DNA as that show, which is more than I could have ever asked for. It’s contextually and thematically much different, though. Part Midnight Mass (2021), part The Village (2005), this is an exhibition of “what if Mike Flanagan and M. Night Shyamalan had a love child” There’s an undeniable The Wicker Man (1973) influence as well, if you think about it. Yet, The King Tide, directed by Christian Sparkles, can very much stand on its own as a quasi-horror-drama that is...

The opening scenes of director Christian Sparkes’ The King Tide set an ominous tone: a powerful storm takes down the power lines of a small island town as a pregnant woman loses her child while her dementia-suffering mother sits nearby. In the morning, as the town takes stock of the damage and the power is restored, a surprising discovery is found in an overturned boat in the harbour: a baby girl…with the ability to heal.
Writers Albert Shin and William Woods, working from a story by Kevin Coughlin and Ryan Grassby, treat the story as something of a morality tale mixed with a fable. Following the cold open, the action jumps ahead 10 years at a point when the unnamed island is thriving. The fishing is bountiful, the islanders are self-sufficient and have cut ties with the mainland, and most everyone is happy.

Plot: In a remote fishing village, a wrecked boat containing a baby washes up on the shore. Rescued by the local mayor (Clayne Crawford) and his wife (Lara Jean Chorostecki), they adopt the baby and name her Isla. As it turns out, the child has mysterious healing powers and can even fill the sea with fish, allowing the island to be completely self-sufficient. As she grows into a young woman (Alix West Lefler), Isla becomes almost like a deity, but when her powers fail, the town becomes desperate to protect their way of life, no matter what the cost may be to Isla herself.
Review: The King Tide reminded me a lot of the type of genre-tinged morality tales we used to get from Rod Serling’s version of The Twilight Zone. The premise is pretty intriguing. Imagine a child existed in your town whose mere presence guaranteed your health...

The story threads converge in “Panic Room,” the sixth episode of “Chucky“ Season 3. In the previous episode, a death row-bound Tiffany (Jennifer Tilly) demanded that a dying Chucky (voiced by Brad Dourif) “go down in a blaze of glory and take as many with you on your way out.” Considering the last episode also ended with the gruesome eye gouging of President James Collins (Devon Sawa), “Panic Room” plunges the White House into chaos and terror as Chucky lays the groundwork for his most ambitious plan yet.
Warren Pryce (Gil Bellows) continues to reveal his true colors, giving First Lady Charlotte Collins (Lara Jean Chorostecki) no room to grieve, let alone process what’s happened, before he enlists a clean-up crew to cover up the President’s death. Charlotte attempts to shield her children from the truth, even as she can barely hold it together, but finds herself plagued by...

Chucky season 3 had to be split in half due to the writers and actors strikes, with the first four episodes (read our review Here) airing on Syfy and USA Network (as well as the Peacock streaming service) back in October. Production resumed at the end of November, and the second half of the season will begin airing on April 10th – so now that we’re closing in on the end of season 3, series creator Don Mancini is, of course, fielding questions about the possibility of a fourth season. During an interview with The Direct, Mancini confirmed that season 4 has already been pitched!
When the subject of season 4 came up, Mancini said, “There’s very little I can say about that. I can’t tell you my idea for Season 4, but I’m really excited about it. I already pitched it to the network. So fingers crossed because it’s something I really like to do.

Part two of “Chucky” Season 3 is underway, with last night’s midseason premiere kicking off Chucky’s continued bid for the White House while dealing with a new aging affliction. The midseason premiere also delivered on series creator Don Mancini’s tease of a Chucky vs M3GAN showdown, just not in the way you’d expect.
In “Death Becomes Her,” Chucky (voiced by Brad Dourif) wallows over his mortality (when he’s not murdering people), which includes moping about in bed or watching TV. His channel surfing leads him to a string of killer doll horror movies playing, and Chucky’s commentary on his potential rivals will leave you in stitches.
The first film Chucky flips through is 2016’s The Boy, featuring the creepy but prim doll Brahms. After a brief scene of Brahms being cared for by his mother, Chucky dismisses this particular rival with “what a fucking joke.

The back half of Don Mancini’s “Chucky“ Season 3 has finally arrived, which means the metaphorical training wheels are off. The first half of the season introduced new slaying grounds for the killer Good Guy doll, thrusting Chucky into the White House with its complicated tenants. Episode 5, “Death Becomes Her,” wastes no time addressing Episode 4’s massive dangling threads while barreling toward what’s sure to be an unpredictable battle for control.
The Halloween bloodbath at the end of Episode 4 did poor President James Collins (Devon Sawa) no favors, both for his career and declining mental health. USA and Syfy’s hit horror series “Chucky” is coming back to the small screen for “Season 3: Part 2” on April 10, and Syfy brings us a handful of first-look images this week.

The Chucky franchise has been around since 1988, with the titular killer doll hacking and slashing his way through each movie.
The franchise got the TV treatment in 2020, carrying on many of the plots from the previous movies, along with a cast of new and returning faces.
It has been a success story for Syfy, drawing rave reviews and bucking the trend for horror movies being adapted into TV shows.
More often than not, switching mediums doesn’t land well with diehard fans.
But Chucky will go down as one of the best horror series on the small screen because it doesn’t forget its lore.
With the second half of Chucky Season 3 coming in hot, it’s time to take a look at everything we know about it.

Chucky season 3 had to be split in half due to the writers and actors strikes, with the first four episodes (read our review Here) airing on Syfy and USA Network (as well as the Peacock streaming service) back in October. Production resumed at the end of November – and now it has been announced that the second half of the season will begin airing on April 10th! The announcement was made via a social media video made to look like a text exchange between Chucky the killer doll and series cast member Devon Sawa, and you can watch that at the bottom of this article.

Don Mancini, who has written every film in the Child’s Play / Chucky franchise (except the remake) and directed a few of them, developed the TV series Chucky with producer David Kirschner – and he has made it clear that he enjoys casting actors in multiple roles. For example, Devon Sawa has already played four different characters over the course of the TV show’s three seasons. Now Entertainment Weekly has learned that legendary filmmaker John Waters is the latest person to play two different roles in this franchise. Having previously played Pete Peters, a tabloid photographer who got dissolved by acid in 2004’s Seed of Chucky, Waters has now been added to the cast of Chucky season 3, where he’ll be playing Wendell Wilkins, “the reclusive creator of the Good Guy dolls, who gets drawn into the psychopathic Chucky’s tangled web”.

As if we needed yet another reason to get excited about “Chucky” Season 3: Part 2, set to arrive next year, EW reports that filmmaker and Seed of Chucky alum John Waters is set to make his franchise return.
EW revealed that Waters will play Wendell Wilkins, the reclusive creator of the Good Guy dolls, who naturally gets caught in Chucky’s killer web. Waters previously played tabloid photographer Pete Peters, who met an acidic demise in 2004’s Seed of Chucky.
Waters’ appearance continues Mancini’s streak of bringing back the franchise’s players in exciting ways.

Now that Jake, Devon and Lexy are headed to the White House, he plans on adding them to his body count. Each week Joe Lipsett will highlight a key scene or interaction in S03 of Don Mancini’s Chucky series to consider how the show is engaging with and contributing to queer horror.
Gather around children because the time has come for “the talk.”
Last week’s “Chucky” Season 3 premiere basically confirmed that Don Mancini and company were planning on taking Jake (Zackary Arthur) and Devon (Björgvin Arnarson)’s relationship to the next level. Like a lot of other queer-storylines on the series, this development is folded in organically among the bloodshed and the larger threat posed by Chucky (voiced by Brad Dourif) at the White House.
Quite some time has passed since the Season 2 Christmas bloodbath: Lexy (Alyvia Alyn Lind), now also orphaned, is living with the two boys under a single roof under the care of science teacher-turned-guardian Mrs. Fairchild (Annie M. Briggs). That makes for a lack of privacy,...

Don Mancini's Child's Play and its renowned main character Chucky, voiced by Brad Dourif, became an international horror sensation. How do I know? Because growing up in ‘90s Poland, I knew all too well about the evil doll. Chucky gave me a few nightmares, but it also turned me into a hardcode horror enthusiast. With the SyFy series Chucky , the creators extend the film universe and reintroduce the possessed doll to a broader and younger audience. This naughty, deliciously vicious series never gets old, even after several runs. This time, season 3 transports us to the White House and has to offer even more outrageous moments, great script, and continually astounding performances.
Following the events in Hackensack involving Chucky, Tiffany, and a pile of dead bodies, Jake (Zackary Arthur), Lexy (Alyvia Alyn Lind), and Devon (Bjorgvin Arnarson) find themselves orphaned. As befits Gen Z, the infamous trio immerses themselves in technology,...

By the end of Don Mancini’s “Chucky“ Season 2, orphans Jake Wheeler (Zackary Arthur), Devon (Bjorgvin Arnarson), and Lexy (Alyvia Alyn Lind) found a new stable home, free from Chucky (Brad Dourif). With Chucky on the lam and Tiffany (Jennifer Tilly) accosted by the authorities, all seemed well for Hackensack and the franchise’s protagonists, save for one or two loose ends. As for the killer Good Guy doll, he doesn’t appear interested in Hackensack anymore.
Season 3 puts Chucky’s ambition on display as the pint-sized serial killer takes aim at the White House. With the third outing of “Chucky” split into halves, Season 3: Part 1’s more self-contained narrative keeps overarching plot threads on the backburner in favor of setting up a White House bloodbath that puts the camp in politics.
Chucky may still have a bone to pick with Jake, Devon, and Lexy, but his unwavering lust for power takes precedence.
