Singer and Yellowstone TV star Lainey Wilson came into the 2023 Country Music Assn. Awards as the leading nominee, and she lived up to that advance billing by taking home five trophies Wednesday including the top honor Entertainer of the Year.

The CMAs were held at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville and broadcast live on ABC. It will be streaming on Hulu on Thursday.

Performers on the night included Wilson, Luke Bryan, Kelsea Ballerini, Luke Combs, Kenny Chesney and a noticeably slimmer Post Malone among others.

Wilson was the leading nominee for a second year in a row, boasting a record nine nominations. Jelly Roll was second with five, while Combs and Hardy each had four.

The annual country music awards show, with hosts Luke Bryan and Peyton Manning, took place on Wednesday night (November 8) at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn.

Country’s biggest stars gathered in Nashville Thursday night to kick off the first-ever People’s Choice Country Awards.

Little Big Town hosted the inaugural ceremony live from Nashville’s famed Grand Ole Opry, and it featured several fun performances from Kane Brown, Dan + Shay, Kelsea Ballerini, Carly Pearce, and more; plus, it saw country’s best accept the first time awards. Honorary trophies like the Country Music Icon Award and the Country Champion Award were also presented, to which they were awarded to Toby Keith and Wynonna Judd, respectively.

Amongst the epic night’s top nominees were Ballerini, Brown, Blake Shelton, Luke Combs, Carrie Underwood and Morgan Wallen. There were even a few unexpected musicians, who dabbled into country music over the past year, including Pink, Ed Sheeran and Bebe Rexha, whom were up for some awards.

The People’s Choice Country Awards made its debut on Thursday night at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville. On this night at least, the people’s choice was Jelly Roll, aka Jason Bradley DeFord, who was a winner in four categories.

Hosted by Little Big Town, the show began its live broadcast airing simultaneously on NBC and Peacock.

The full list of nominees was revealed in August, with country superstars Lainey Wilson, Luke Combs and Morgan Wallen dominating the nominations. Kane Brown and Jelly Roll were also top contenders, earning six nominations each.

The Country Music Icon Award was presented to Toby Keith by Blake Shelton.

Lainey Wilson was the first winner at the inaugural People’s Choice Country Awards. The Louisiana native, who just headlined Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado, in support of her album Bell Bottom Country, was named Female Artist of the Year.

Dan + Shay were named Group/Duo of 2023. “I didn’t know if we’d stand on stage again, let alone winning an award together,” Shay Mooney said, upon accepting with Dan Smyers. “We were those kids that grew up listening to Toby Keith and Wynonna and Little Big Town.

The inaugural People’s Choice Country Music Awards established itself as country’s hottest night, with a star-studded lineup of genre legends, including Blake Shelton, Wynonna Judd, Toby Keith and Little Big Town, among many others.

Hosted by Little Big Town in Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry House, Jelly Roll swept the awards show as the most recognized artist of the night, scoring best male artist, new artist of 2023, song of the year for “Need a Favor” and collaboration song of 2023 for “Save Me” with Lainey Wilson.

Morgan Wallen came next with three awards, including the people’s artist of 2023, album of the year for “One Thing at a Time” and concert tour of the year. In addition to best collaboration song, Wilson also nabbed the award for female artist of the year, as well as a feature on music video of the year for Hardy’s “Wait in the Truck.

Country singer Renee Blair is recovering after a harrowing child-birthing experience.

Blair took to Instagram Friday after welcoming her first child with husband Jordan Schmidt, to share that she ended up losing two liters of blood — almost half the blood in the human body — while giving birth to their son.

“If you’re wondering what happened, two hours after giving birth I lost over 2 liters of blood in under thirty minutes and had to be transferred to a different floor to try and get things under control,” Blair, 31, wrote.

The musician continued, “I ended up losing roughly half the blood in my body. This last week since coming home I’ve had panic attacks just walking from my bed to the couch after catching glimpses of myself in the mirror looking so pale and from feeling so weak.”

6 January 2023 – Emi Records Nashville recording artist Tyler Hubbard is gearing up for the January 27th release of his debut solo album, Tyler Hubbard, and today released a new track, “Me For Me,” which also has an accompanying unofficial music video. The song was written by Hubbard and fellow artists and friends, Russell Dickerson and Thomas Rhett, and was produced by Hubbard and Jordan Schmidt. The song highlights the beautiful parts of a relationship and loving people for who they are.

“’Me For Me’ was written with my good buddies, Russell Dickerson and Thomas Rhett. We set aside a few hours and just thought we’d see what happens. We ended up writing ‘Me For Me,’ which quickly became one of my favorites because it really felt personal and real. I love when an unexpected song falls out of thin air, especially with two of your best buds.

Lainey Wilson looks back on a young and reckless love in the new song “Watermelon Moonshine,” her latest release from her upcoming second album. To recap, Sam and husband Mark Wales had two hidden idols between them, plus Mark had the immunity necklace around his neck, when they stepped into tribal council in the 20th episode. Despite being warned by alliance member Josh Millgate that Mark should play an idol for Sam, the married couple rolled the dice … and Sam ended up being blindsided. Following Sam’s elimination, the surviving players all exited the tribal council area and then host Jonathan Lapaglia broke from tradition and asked jury member Jesse Hansen, who had previously been betrayed by Sam, whether he “enjoyed” her blindside. “That was flipping epic,” the kid stated enthusiastically.

In a recent poll, Gold Derby asked “Australian Survivor” viewers to name the person they most wanted to win the current “Blood V Water” season and the results were, well, all over the place. Five contestants earned double-digit support in our poll results (see below), with “juicy” David Goodchild coming in first place at 25%. He’s the father of superfan Briana Goodchild, who was eliminated way back in the second episode. Editor’s note: this poll was conducted prior to the “Purgatory” twist that sent several voted out cast members to a deserted island in the hopes of one day returning to the game.

Phase two of the competition has officially kicked into high gear, with the Red (Blood) tribe and the Blue (Water) tribe merging into one group. Khanh Ong and Melissa “Mel” Chiang were the first two boots of the Purple (Lava) tribe, and they’re both now members of the jury that will decide who ultimately wins the $500,000 grand prize.

NBC is developing God’s Country, a drama inspired by Blake Shelton’s hit song of the same name. The project hails from the long-time Voice coach Shelton, Las Vegas creator Gary Scott Thompson and Universal Television.

Written by Thompson, in God’s Country, when the patriarch of a hardworking Midwestern farm family dies mysteriously in a car accident, his grown children discover he was keeping a devastating secret they could never have imagined.

Shelton’s song “God’s Country”, written by Devin Dawson, Hardy and Jordan Schmidt, was released in March 2019. It has gone triple platinum and won Single of the Year at the Academy of Country Music Awards last week. The song’s official video has been viewed more than 114M times on YouTube alone.
